Strapping is a good idea to start with, as is a training schedule with regular running. Dont try any sort of topical application, doesnt really work. Just be patient, your feet will toughen up eventually. make sure you clean those broken blisters and cover them ’til they’ve healed.

Great career choice if thats what he really wants to do. If he doesnt like it he wont make it through basic training…its a world away from the cadets!
Loved my time there, and i know the British Army has changed a great deal since then, but if its what he wants to do then find out all the information you can for him.

sandwicheater, dont bash or prick the sloes, freeze them for a day or 2 first, then use them as normal, saves a lot of time! About to bottle 5 litres from last years harvest of sloes, then i will steep the gin soaked fruit in cider for a month!….Hic! :D

Careful there coffeeking. Agreed all food will last a fair bit longer than the sell by date would suggest, but that packet of meat (pork?) bottom right is past it! 22 years as a master butcher tells me its only fit for the dog! Its ‘blown’, gasses from the decomposition have filled the plastic to make the lid expand…

Hope you got a BOGOF on bog rolls

Pippa (3 year old Border) had fantastic recall outside and in unless there were other dogs around then she would go and boss them, not taking any notice of a recall. The only thing that would get her attention was to ignore her and walk away, she would then come running up in a hurry!
I think selective hearing is a Border trait, she is now refuses any recall in the house unless she thinks there is something in it for her, so we now call the cats name first, then hers and she responds immeadiately. Outside she is ok ish, unless she has found a scent of something, or there is fox and badger poo to roll in.
She is taken out 3 times a week with a dog walker who has a big group of mixed dogs, this is to make sure she is well socialised. Her behaviour then is impeccable, with instant recall. but she does boss other dogs about.. She IS the boss.

Pain in both knees? I would want to rule out the obvious, as in OA from wear and tear etc before looking at your gait and any possible foot pathologies or lower limb/back alignment issues. Go to your GP and get him to refer you. What part of the country are you? Most PCT’s have NHS biomechanical specialist podiatrists.

Why do you think its your gait thats affecting your knees? If you have concerns then go and see a Podiatrist or a Physiotherapist, they will point you in the right direction. Gait analysis is part of my remit as a Podiatrist, but you havent given many clues as to what could be the problem.

Bought one after having various other tunnel/dome tents.

BRILLIANT! So much easier to erect/take down. Loads of room. Just about to take it to cornwall for two weeks so we’ll see how it does in the rain.

Made a double layer tea light for the central pole, much cheaper than buying one already made (get the patio table light ring form Sainsburys, and just add chains)

Would not go back to the other tents now.

‘Looked after a friends Spinger/Setter cross, introduced it to our 18month B terrier at the time, Border was boss, no arguements there. first night, put the dogs out into the garden, walked back into the kitchen to find the springer cross sat looning at me with tail wagging like crazy. repeated the excersise, same result. The dog could clear a four foot window sill, sink worktop piled with drying plates by jumping clear through the window from a standing start!

Mad mad mad dog… was glad to hand him back!
