WCA, not an expert, but don’t dismiss hypnosis just because some clowns got up on stage and made arses of themselves and you didn’t. I was hypnotised thirty years ago for nail biting and haven’t done it since. Hypnotist told me most people cannot be made to go under against their will, but can be helped if they want to be.

Just might be worth checking out

Bracknell store has a mechanic called Paul who is top notch. If he worked in your lbs you would rave about him. Not sure they are all that good, but surely some of the others must be.

    Three cheers for Paul!

au contraire I treat screen protectors like F1 drivers use tear off visor protectors. new one every few months at a cost of a couple of quid a time. once screen is scratched there is no way back…

all about the price you pay as a major failure will probably make it uneconomic to repair. but at the right price I would buy one

My wife has 2.0 diesel smax which we bought new 18 months ago. Hasn’t missed a beat, delivers over 40mpg and she loves it.

Personally I hate it. Neither fish nor fowl. Would rather have had another galaxy or a mondeo estate which at least know what they are for.

As usual the problem is with inexact terminology. My rich may be my friend’s comfortable and your poor. There is no precise definition.

But relatively speaking £60k is a decent whack to most people; try and support a family in a decent part of Surrey on that though and you will certainly not feel rich. And whilst you may feel well off that will almost certainly not be the case if you lose your job and have no savings to fall back on.

Actually rereading original post la Rosie re would not have enough non skiing activities. Val d’isere would get my vote, but it won’t be cheap.

Check out La Rosiere in France. High enough to be snow sure, small enough not to have to worry about traipsing around and very focussed on families. Think we went there three times in all.

Avoid Chamonix like the plague for families…

Agree with what mikewsmith and rogerthecat said, but a note about accountants fees – the numbers quoted on here are very low and you need to know what you are getting for your money. I pay £200 per month, but I get all business and personal tax returns done, vat returns done, payroll returns done (pay myself just enough on salary to get maximum use of tax free allowance), and most important of all to me I get sound advice about dividend policy, allowable expenses and all manner of structural things like whether to buy/lease cars, usually without asking for it.

My mates think I pay too much, I think I get good value for what I pay and can’t imagine having to issue myself with payslips and tax vouchers for dividend payments, etc.

    Whatever you decide, good luck.

Hate the idea of the texan getting any publicity whatsoever. Should be ostracised from sports altogether. Only positive basis for a film would be to focus on the ruined careers of those who refused to dope thereby killing the myth that the texan had to dope to compete.

andybach, can’t really disagree with any of the negative comparisons of woking with edinburgh, but surprised nobody has mentioned the climate. I have a friend who moved his family down from edinburgh and they flatly refused to move back a few years later because of what they descibed as the lack of sunlight back home – about half on average I believe – so you may just grow to like it

The texan who ruined others careers should be aggressively ignored. I am personally disappointed that some pros still follow him on twitter.

Mcwyc, thanks for response. The truth is I have a few days, a load of enthusiasm and a little spare cash, but I don’t know where to start. Can leave UK Wednesday morning and really have to be back sometime Saturday so wondered if it was possible to watch Thursday and Friday stages. Concerned that I will get within striking distance and then not know where to go. Have a tent or could rent motor home or fly down and stay in a hotel, but as a tour Virgin really looking for inspiration!

Not against knighthoods per se, but for sustained services to sport/charity/whatever, not because it will make the Prime Minister more popular for being in touch with the people…

BTW, Wiggins was first brit ever to win TDF and has I believe four olympic golds from three different olympic games. Hoy has six olympic golds and is Britain’s most successful olympian. Both were knighted in their thirties. Murray is doing very nicely thank you and may merit a knighthood one day, but not yet.

Froome to win, Porte in top three, Cav to win at least four stages, Clenbutador to flatter to deceive, Schleck to whinge, Popeye to make things interesting and Sagan not to pinch any ladies’ bottoms.

    It’s going to be great!

find somebody local who has had a new bathroom and can recommend somebody so that you can see their workmanship

we did the three quotes thing and ended up choosing the most expensive one on the basis of the work we saw (and he was Polish and did the leccy, tiling, plumbing and wiping up after himself…)

depreciation is of course the biggest cost of ownership in the first few years, but maintenance starts to become a bigger factor as the car gets older so it’s not simply a matter of buy new and run into ground for best financial management

we take the view that the main family car has to be reliable and therefore buy new and change every three to four years whilst accepting that this is expensive

the second car (mine!) is now thirteen years old, cost a couple of grand a year or so ago, and whilst it has low depreciation there is always the risk that maintenance costs will mean it has to be written off at any point in time

Honest John gives the golf mark 4 two stars compared to three for the pug and four for the focus, but thousands of golf drivers would disagree. To be honest when you buy a thirteen year old car I think it is more down to the individual car than the make and model, but I have never felt less than happy to drive my golf and that has to be worth something.

I drive a Mk4 GTi and all of the above comments about known problems are valid, but they don’t usually all happen at once on the same car. Having said that if you are going to run an older car you have got to plan to spend a few hundred pounds a year on servicing and maintenance. I’ve probably spent over a grand on mine in the last year, but I could have done things more cheaply if I was so inclined and I am covering 500 miles a week.

BTW £2,400 seems a little steep (I paid £2k for mine with 99,000 miles a year or so ago), but shopping around will give you a good idea of the going rate.

    Good luck,

Personally I think the discomfort of RCT is worse than that for an implant (have had both), but having had same decision to make as OP last year I went for the full RCT and a gold crown and have not regretted it (although I would have preferred to spend the cash on a bike!)

what verses said, although I too will have the same dilemma when my upgrade is due in August

currently have htc desire s which is great, but use a samdung galaxy note 8 tablet so wonder whether there would be any advantage in having two samsungs?

overall I want a phone with a bigger screen than I have now, but not really as big as either of these two – but I do want their performance and I don’t see that anywhere else

think i will go for the htc…
