Tracy – I think I have admired your camper on other threads! It would need to be a stunning deal, with a stunning payment plan, to get me to order anything at the show! I am somewhat financially embarrassed at the moment 😉

I must admit though, that’s how I want to use it – weekends popping out, holidays… even just running to the central Lakes from here for an early start on the hills would be great (only a half hour drive up into Langdale!) – just have it packed up and ready to go at any time!

We want to take the kids on more adventures – both the two that live with us and my daughter when she comes down to stay.

Space for keeping something is less of an issue. My bottom drive will take 3 vehicles reasonably easily, and once I re-make the gate it would probably take 4. The top drive will take a couple – or would be about ideal for a campervan/motorhome (probably not a caravan though, manoeuvring it in would be… interesting… the bottom drive would probably be more straight forward for that!).

    Hmmm… we shall see…

I could always pop the Moto Guzzi on a trailer for getting two of us about once parked up 😉

Post Brexit we have no chance of moving to CET – that would be non-British….

Knowing the pro-Brexit lobby groups we will probably move to an entirely new and even further removed time system from our neighbours!

(I am all for CET myself)

I always wanted to move to Inverness – that was my next planned location after Stirling. Unfortunately something went terribly wrong and I am now in the Lake District!

    Really quite envious.

    Enjoy 🙂

Hmmmm – I think the show next weekend is going to be interesting. Not planning on anything new (I don’t think), but it seems the best place to get a good look at all the options!

Other than a DIY Van conversion 😉

I was looking at renting one for our summer hols this year… holy**** – over £2k for a 6 berth, then I have to get it to Orkney and back!!! Although that may make us rethink the plan (though I have wanted to introduce the family to their cultural home for a long time!)

I was wondering about getting an extra-large van (Sprinter/Crafter/Big Fiat thingy), sticking some insurance on it and then converting it myself either through a pre-made flat pack kit… or just getting someone else to do it for me.

The Campervan thing works better in my mind, but I just think a T5 size job is going to be way too small. Of course we could go down that route, and then stick a caravan on it when we wanted to go for a longer trip. Which may be the best of both worlds (although I am still more inclined to something bigger – possibly with a small caravan when the kids get bigger!)

    Car 88bhp
    Van 190bhp
    Bike 1 120bhp
    Bike 2 12bhp

    All in all 410bhp

I have had cars with more than that 😀 I must be getting respectable in my old age!

Which one of these eight beers is the only one they brew ?

    http://www.conistonbrewery.com/coniston-ales.htm

The Thurstein Pilsner is fantastic through a superchiller 😉

As to Ulverston David – there are 3 at the moment I think! There was one in Barrow, but can’t remember it’s name… and not sure if it is still there. Foxfield Brewery isn’t far away though either.

Then you have a few over in Millom too – Hardknott is over that way.

Infact – a convenient list is here!

    The closest is probably:

Unless (yet) another one has opened up since I last checked! Within the immediate surrounding area (upto 15 minutes drive) there are a few more:

And there are many, many, many more!!!

Lots in the Messa Boogie… quite a few more in the Peavy… a few in the Blackstar… and I even have a Fatman amp somewhere with a few more in.

So quite a lot I would think!

Y’see Davesport – that is *my* idea of a good time… however… I am not convinced that the rest of the family are quite so onboard with that! My wife spent her childhood on big caravan sites – and the kids have had a good dose of that with the grandparents for a few years too.

Which makes a Caravan more sensible.

But I am not really known for sensible 😉

Kinda looking forward to next weekend to see what is out there, what it costs (and then look at some second hand stuff – or build your own options!)

The cost issues of a camper are a bit offputting. I was looking at the large van types (rather than coachbuilt) but not many got to 5 berths – and new they are pushing £60k which is just taking the piss.

I do like them though 😉

T’other half doesn’t want a coachbuilt job, which does make it kind of tricky!

The caravan idea just seems cheaper and simpler. Just could I live with myself???

(I can see me just giving up, putting the insurance onto either a cheap “fun” car or 4×4 and sticking with normal holiday cottages at this rate!)

Being as they are about to ban backless ones from new, so I think you are onto a lost cause!!!

    According to SWMBO

Got the Rhythms on my EX too – I had thought I may wind up changing them… but actually pretty impressed so far.

I went with the 27.5+, then popped some Hope 29″ wheels in. Very happy with it… just need to ride the thing more 😉

Just had a quick look for some 2.8 HRs… a penny off £100 per end!!!!

Is this Brexit gone mad! Think I will be waiting a bit before changing the rubber on my plus wheels (I wanted something with a bit more bite and stronger casing than the Bontrager jobbies that came on it, not that I have used them yet as it is all a bit slip slidey out there just now!)

I have no immediate neighbours either… but wife and kids kinda stops the excessive ampage in-house sessions these days 😉

Not tried a Vibro Champ – I used to try everything I stumbled upon too!

Neither… Vaude Moab Mid Stx AM – quite a mouthful, granted, but they are waterproof, grippy on the pedal (but with some token toe and heel grip for walking bits) and comfy.

Very impressed with mine, although I had to import them from Germany!

Keeping it for 10 years… surely it is going to make bugger all difference to resale if the plate is 6 months older????

    Get it 😉

My neighbours are sheep, a few horses, a couple of tawny owls and a barn owl on one side… couple of locals next door (Cumbrian), and a southerner across the way (multicultural see!).

This is what you get for living in the Lakes 😉

Blimey – you can tell how long I have been out this game… last time I had a Portastudio it ran on C90s and could only cope with 4 tracks!

Just ordered up an 8 track jobby, with a built in drum machine that is digital and cost half what I paid for the old Tascam back in the day! It should sound a bit better too (I recall those slightly stretched tape tones, hiss and crackle… and degradation of “quality” further each time you mixed down!

I may indulge in some mics rather than using amp simulators too… but that can wait 😉

Boys gone to school, wife away to work, house guests all off out for the day… and I am not working today.

    Absolute bliss!

May take a walk up the hill in a bit to get a Photo a Day project shot in, but the main plan is to have a bit of a time out and relax. Got a head cold to shift, and a couple of jobs on tomorrow!

Ooooh I do love me a Dual Rectifier. Had one with a V Twin running into it for some recording time once….. epic!!!

The Mini Rectifier looks kinda interesting too. Do love Boogies!!! Just hope my .50cal is salvageable (way too tatty to be evonomically salvageable, its had a tough life! Sounds divine though!)

I was thinking the IRT Studio a while back – so that is an interesting comment Mutley. I could probably hook that into the Blackstar 1×12 cab for the time being to give me a bit more headroom whilst we get things working again – then either run straight to PA or pop it through some bigger cabs depending on needs.

Be handy for the recording aspect too.

Interesting… perhaps this isn’t a shoe in for the Orange 😉 Not sure if Promenade Music in Morecambe have one to have a play on, may need to pop in sometime for a look. The band will probably be based in Glasgow though once things come back together (currently it is… erm… globally challenged) so I will have plenty of chance to try more stuff out!

Some other good ideas in here too though 🙂

I think I need more amps personally – love the idea of those wee micro-heads. If I ever get space for a proper studio I plan to have loads of em!!!!

I am not sure what my budget is yet either!!!!

Interesting comment on the Tubemeister – clinical is not what I am looking for! I will take a look anyway (curiosity), but sounds like the Orange is looking more “me”.

I used to love Marshalls, Jim was half responsible for buying my first electric guitar for me! I haven’t really looked at the more recent stuff from them – last time I tried one I was slightly underwhelmed… and this comes from someone who has always lusted after a Bluesbreaker! That wouldn’t be ROCK enough for me for this project though 😉

Some of the Laneys caught my eye a while back, so will take a look at those (Ironheart although it was the more chilled Lionhearts I was looking at last time… but that was for a more bluesy idea I was playing with rather than the Industrial/Goth kinda direction that I am going back to).

Will check out those non-valve suggestions too, ta 🙂

I had tried a 15W Terror in the past – and the sound was brilliant! Very Angus Young tones achieved with no effort – I very, very nearly bought it. I am thinking two channels may be useful though as I do (sometimes) use a clean tone or two 😉 The Dual Terror or Dual Dark would probably be more versatile though.

    I did like it though!

Not tried the Dark yet, but the description sounds a bit more suitable for purpose!

Doesn’t have to be valve – just not heard anything solid state to match valves yet (but I haven’t been in the market for a long while).

I ain’t buying just yet though – getting ideas for the moment. The Boogie may be sorted in time if I am lucky!

I have seen them on t’interwebs… looked kinda interesting, but never seen one in the flesh – I shall hunt one down for a play!

It’s been sent to my (almost) brother-in-laws Dad whom used to build radios in naval ships at sea to see what he can do with it.

No one outside of London seemed willing to touch it!

Tone was generally on the heavy side of things, although with a few clean tones thrown in now and then… occasionally a bit more bluesy… but mostly heavy 😉

    Capt.Kronos

Yeah… I tried an Orange years back and loved it. Almost enough to chop in the Boogie, and it has kind of been on my mind ever since.

I think I may need to test the Dual Dark and Dual Terror in the near future. The output should be fine from either (mic up anyway), but I do like a good bit of ooomph anyway 😉

Now… just got to remember how to play the guitar again – and more specifically the parts that I need to play!

Swapped from Fitbit to Garmin recently (more the GPS tracker end of things than the fitness bands) due to wrist rot from the Fitbit.

Got to say, I am pretty impressed with it, but it is a harder task master than the Fitbit was!!!! My steps have dropped a lot, and it seems the number of flights of stairs I go up and down has collapsed too! Just going to have to do more to get up to target 😉

The GPS and HRM bits seem to work pretty well though – and I can go swimming in it, unlike the Fitbit, which may or may not be relevant.

M4/3 folks – check out the Olly 12mm f2.0 and 45mm f1.8 LOVELY!!!! The 45mm is remarkably cheap too, and sharp as a sharp thing.

    Capt.Kronos

This is why I rate the Olly so much Mr Coolhand – I take it everywhere as it is small, light and inconspicuous whilst the D800E only comes out if I am off to take photographs as the primary reason for being somewhere.

However, whatever I take needs to produce the goods hence why I moved to the micro 4/3 over a compact (that isn’t to say that there aren’t really good compacts, but I felt I was giving up too much versatility and functionality going down that route).

OM-D + Pancake lens = teeny (coat pocket size), and a set of primes giving a nice spread from an ultrawide to a mid tele macro fits in the other pocket 😉

Oooooh – every time I try and do Parkamoor it is sheet ice and I give up. I must sort that out… since I live a couple of miles from the bottom of it now!!!!

I really get on well with the Olympus OM-Ds for small – also really robust and capable of stunning results (I had a double page spread in Outdoor Photographer magazine from an OM-D E-M5 mk I, the newer version is a bit better… but not much).

Otherwise whatever Canon, Nikon or… my current hot tip – Pentax K-50 – fits the bill! Very impressed with the current Pentax range.

Not had much to do with the Sony offerings, some people rate em so could be worth checking out.

I do love my Ollys though!!! (I have 2)

I went boost and it was something I was pretty keen on for the new bike – but this is mainly as I am a big chap and had issues with wheel flex on my previous 29er full sus, so anything to help stiffness in that regard was high on my agenda.

But for £1300… I don’t think I would have been all that bothered 😉

    Capt.Kronos

I am still trying to work this one out – and at the same time failing to do any of them properly! Slowly starting to mountain bike again, motorbike is mainly the lighter months (March – October) and mostly consists of a few social weekends for the moment. Guitar… utter backboiler at the moment, has been for a long time – although if we ever do get either the band back together, or form that supergroup I keep threatening to do….

Which just leaves photography. I squeeze that in everyday, but there are vague plans afoot to switch that to the career and not bother too much about earning more than I need to raise the family.

Oh… and surfing… lets just not go there eh! I am absolutely shocking at it, but do have a lovely longboard just waiting for me to find time to master it!

Since kids (and previous life falling apart) I haven’t really had much time or inclination to do anything properly. Hopefully this is the year all that starts to change.

I haven’t actually run my B+ bike with the intended tyres yet… must have a go soon. The Bontys that came with it are worryingly small knobbed though so it has 29″ wheels are more aggressive rubber for the moment.

That said, I may throw em in and go out on a gloop fest and see what happens sometime this week though, if I get a chance!
