Went to Isola 2000 over New year for a couple of nights. Drove up from Nice, not the prettiest resort but it actually served us well for a snowboard introduction for our 9yr old twins. Got an appt for Eu100 per night overlooking the slopes/beginners area. Snow was good but we obv didn’t venture far at all with two complete novices in tow. I did a lot of running up and down the slopes those first two days with them. When they had finally cracked the beginner drag lift on the second afternoon, mum and me could finally get on our boards too.
It was our first time back on boards since the kids were born.
Logistical nightmare getting everyone ready to go out on the slopes each time but we have already booked the appt to do the same next New Year, so it must have gone alright

Something seems to have changed in their warranty procedure.
I had a warranty on a Giant TCR (road frame) many years ago.
Crack on seat tube, near bb, it was white paint so may have been a paint crack.
Bought as a frameset, built up by myself, so had to strip bike down and send back as a frameset.
Warranty honoured and a new frameset duly arrived.
I now have 4 Giants in the garage partly due to this experience.
    Following outcome with interest

Yep, i’m told cap will be about 34p delivered but there is also a maximum discount available (presumably to stop any temptation to milk the system) This maximum discount has been reduced by the government from initially 40.5p/kwh down to 34.5p/kwh.
21p figure was always seen as confusing and misleading.

We used an AHC last year for our new pup to go to our place in France. Cost about £180 i think, do check them very carefully, read lots of stories of them being invalid with wrong entries made etc. Guess vets are probably more used to filling them in now. Luckily we have an ‘understanding’ vet in France and have been on their books for previous dogs for 15 years. So our new dog is officially French. Cost about 30 euros. Haven’t actually used its new passport yet but hopefully all will be ok, just have to get all rabies boosters administered by the French vet. Any entry by UK vet will render the passport invalid.

Yes, bought a fair few bits, no probs.
Never anything more than about £15 tho.
‘DT Swiss’ star drive tool, roadie bar tape, gloves, Sram Etap rubber hoods, 0.1mm and 0.2mm washers for fine tuning rotor spacing, syringes, valves, led lights
They tend to quote long lead times but most things turn up quicker.2-3 weeks
They now charge Tax on UK orders at source.
One order never arrived and refunded promptly

Hi, does anyone know the actual rules/timeline with the 5 day isolation introduction today.
Does it apply to those currently in isolation or just new cases from today?
Daughter tested positive last Tues, passed lateral flows Fri, Sat Sun and this morning (day 6), so we took her to school. School have kicked off, kept her in isolation(we have now collected her) read the riot act to Mrs, saying as she tested positive last Tuesday, she cant come back until this Wednesday (full seven days) according to Public Health guidelines.
All i can find out is statements on gov.uk saying

“17 January , this guidance applies toENGLAND
You can stop self-isolating at the start of day 6 if you get 2 negative rapid lateral flow test results on days 5 and 6 and do not have a temperature. Tests must be at least 24 hours apart. If either test is positive, wait 24 hours before testing again.”

    Thanks

My friend….wasn’t allowed to remove a wall in his flat, even though the Grade 2 was really only concerned with the outside. (quaint High Street frontage, shop below)
What he should have done was removed it before he applied for change of use from office to residential. Conservation had no idea it was there in reality and now has a wall in the middle of living room doing nothing but creating a tiny room behind it.

Many years ago, late 90’s i was upgrading from a steel road frame to a nice new lightweight alloy Principia. I was transferring over the groupset myself. Fitting the down tube cable stops onto the bosses i encountered trouble. The drive side stop, secured with an allen bolt, would just not nip up tight and kept spinning, albeit with a gentle amount of force. After about six extra turns i stopped and took stock. The heart stopping moment was when i realised i had pulled the opposite non drive side stop into the downtube denting it. The two bosses were connected through the downtube not just brazed on like my old steel frame.

    Shimano 9 pitch 4.35mm
    Campag 9 pitch 4.55mm
so it should work, depending on how fussy you are.
Set rear mech in middle of block gear 5, set gear 1 and gear 9 with mech stops.
Gear 4 and 6 will be .2mm out
Gear 3 and 7 should be .4mm out
and gear 2 and 8 should be 0.6mm out

oh and the Mrs and her googling powers always ended up with us booking on the German Disney site .de
They always seemed cheaper. Spoke to us in German at reception on arrival but then no problems

Dont go in school holidays if you can possibly avoid it, so busy.
We have been 3 times, driven each time, first two before the twins started school. Went cheapest times, best was late November all the Xmas stuff was up, and it did actually snow a bit. Wrapped up warm it was fine Queues manageable 10-15mins but try to avoid Fridays/ W/e’s, definatly gets busier than Mon Tues etc.
Staying in Disney Hotels is expensive but you can get deals that include fast passes and transferable meal passes to use against booked character dining and breakfast in the Park.
Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest rooms were good as got own quieter breakfast dining area and free soft drinks all stay (liberated loads to take with us during the day) and afternoon cake available if you made it back. Obviously you are wasting time not being in the park but we needed down time.

We have stayed outside the park and got the shuttle in but it does add 20mins or so each way and is a nightmare to get back if you have stayed for the fireworks etc then thousands of people try to get on the shuttles around the same time

Make sure you do a deal with the mrs to let you nip off and ride the fast ones (single rider queue’s) esp at the end of the day in lead up to 10pm fireworks. No queues on Space mountain from 9:15ish onwards, got about 4 rides in, with no queue.
We never managed to get ourselves up and out for Extra hours though, up too late previous day/night. We always had the double buggy as a portable storage unit, clothes, food and as a means to rush them round the park whilst they rest. Another advantage of driving is you can take loads of food/snacks etc with you.
Luckily the spell has been broken for the Mrs by our last visit, it was Easter hols and was just so busy 1.5 hrs wait for rides, even close to 30 mins with fast passes.
She’s now talking about the Florida version!

Stock Giant PX2 wheels do indeed weigh a lot, 2.2kg guess not far off, my rear weighed 1150g which i noted down, front from memory was 950+g

I switched to Kinesis Cross wheels at 1600g and have some Chinese carbon tubs on the way for racing

Port des canonge, i wouldn’t bother unless you want to tick it off the list. Descent far too slow, corners every where as in pic, unless you are on an MTB and can straightline it 😉 Nothing at the bottom of note, very quiet road tho. Port Valldemossa, a bit further along north is a better descent/ climb but busier.
Cant help on the Esporles one

How big are these 7 ‘Plec’s’? They are usually tough old buggers but can grow to 18″+

Get a nitrite testing kit as above and if u are keeping the plecs use them to mature the tank

Please don’t buy any more fish until the tank/filters are established or the plecs (some at least) have gone.

Then just get a few hardy species and slowly build up stock levels as the tank establishes itself

Go off road from Centre Parcs on the by-way up to Cobblers Lane and miss out Steppingley, then either Ridgemont or Deerpark. Starting from South West corner of Centreparcs outside the fence

Oscillate Wildy, mine did the same, dropping charge when not in use, when new but having used it a few times it (touch wood) seems to have cured itself. So letting it drop below 50% and the recharging may be the way to go

Similar to DaveyBoy :D, ive always considered a false floor, set at the right height for storage boxes/bags underneath and put bike/more crap on top. I guess the only real hassle would be accessing the boxes right at the back

I’ve always been told it was on health & safety grounds as the French had some drownings, where baggies got trapped/caught in filters/ steps etc

Some do, some don’t (require a bumper trim) even with same car model
Worth shopping around to find one that doesn’t if poss.
I did on a car I knew I was getting rid of in a year and didn’t fancy cutting the bumper

The weightweenies guys swear by the back of a scalpel blade ie the square edge dragged towards you.
Tried it on some roadie brake lever blades and it was certainly quicker than sanding. Finish off with some fine wet n dry and relacquer

Weds Vets at Hillingdon didn’t happen last night
Pre race a cycling member of the public crashed into the organisers car.
By the time the police/ambulance etc had sorted it, too late to race and no refunds apparently!

Yep happened to me with AA Euro cover
They claimed to have sent me two notice letters before renewal
I never rec’d those and took out cover with someone else
Complained when I saw them take the money, wouldn’t refund it all, lost about 20% for the 1st month.
I was bored at work so argued on the phone for close on 2 hrs, getting a little higher up the chain but they weren’t budging, so had to admit defeat.
It’s definitely in their interest for auto renewals to get ‘lost in the post’ 🙄
