    £60 for a helmet? You poseur !

A 20 helmet every ten years or so does me fine! (and thats only because Im fussy about how they look) £8 will buy you a perfectly good helmet made to pass the exact same safety standards

No one is forcing you to buy the latest gash fashionable accessories

Whatever you’re happiest riding, personally I hate swamps, too round profile with no decent edge when leant over and would rather ride minions in mud over them.

Bare in mind a properly wet track where it’s constantly raining can run a lot faster than a drying muddy one.

Wow there princess! It’s only as boring or as dangerous as you choose to make it.

If you’re bored, choose a more interesting route and try harder.
If you feel scared for your life, ride quieter roads with good visibility at the quietest time of day. If all the above is too difficult to cope with, stay indoors at all times.

Wow! a 7 page thread on a tyre clearly designed by an ADHD sufferer?

Pentagon shaped knobs? Really? And what the hell are all the random “L” and “U” shaped sipes all about?

    That is indeed Fantastic news.
I’m a gambling man too, so much so that I stopped buying any cycling magazine other than Singletrack a number of years ago as it seemed many of the others started to employ experienced riders who’ll actually use the equipment before reviewing and rating them in their magazines. I too would much rather go out and buy a product used once (or better still, just photographed in an office) and rated highly with no real explanation of why by someone who’s maybe just returned to riding or perhaps doesn’t really ride much at all.
thanks for sharing, must get back to 888.com now

No quibble returns policies make no sense on any product that if used suffers so much wear and tear it can’t be resold at the same price. Maybe start a a hire business instead?

You make it sound like your shops sales staff do **** all other than operate the till and you’re moaning about the customers who fill it most. Odd!

Yeah, that was me, in the helicopter, think I heard you say you had no ammo/weapons so tried to help out. Without a headset myself I’m not sure I cottoned on to your objective though, we’re you trying to steal a fighter jet?

Anyone give any recommendations for a decent cheap(ish) PS3 headset?

Ha ha.. Gotta laugh at folk using a report button on an 18 rated game..

On that theme, is there a quick way to mute inane thick people or **** who play their own shit music while online like there is on games like Cod etc?

Completed single player a while back, found it very entertaining but ultimately a bit too easy.
Online is just as entertaining but for different reasons.

Have no idea what you’re talking about and don’t really care.
Had roadbikes for over 30years, ridden with road clubs but other than the odd club TT only ever raced mtb. Mainly ride the road on my own these days and rarely ever see another rider if it’s cold/raining/dark
    Don’t understand sportives
don’t care what bike others ride.
Never liked rude **** who ignore a friendly nod/smile/wave/hello.

More (expensive?) Road bikes may be being sold but as far as I can see nothings really changed.

Drac’s right, I ran/drove around for hours the other night being a complete prick in freeplay killing randoms until I got bored and did a few co-op missions then was rewarded with $1000 for being good.

Good laugh playing with some of you, I really need to get myself a new headset for playing with crew members though.. That yeti guy likes to talk, eh?

    Oops! Typo, 3M dual lock.

Check it out, it’s basically industrial grade velcro.

112miles? really? As above any roadbike that fits will be fine..

You’re not doing the whole ride in speedos though are you?

    campkoala

I wouldn’t use velcro, I’d use 3m lock block, far more secure

    Yes, Dave,
    100% correct.
In the mid 70s the Lopes, Cullinan and McGrath families were to be regularly found in truckstops across America hitching lifts from state to state so their boys could race their £50 S/H bikes against kids from other poor families

What’s even more of an achievement is how they always managed to get back in time to stand in line for their social security check each week.

David, guess betterer next time.. lopes and cully both came from racing national level bmx as kids, as did gracia, only he’d also been a national level ski racer from an even younger age.
Girls don’t really count as to get a top 15 WC position you generally only really needed to turn up and complete the course in under half an hour..

All of the riders you mention came from families that heavily supported their chosen sport as kids (even Missy) hardly comparable to todays UK council estate kids on £50 BMXs

Mtb is a dull middle aged middle class man’s pastime where paying for bike fitting, skills coaching and keeping up with the latest trends is what’s most important.. Kids aren’t interested in joining fat IT managers in dayglo poc gear mincing about on bridleways

Ha ha.. Ever been in an indoor skate park recently chief? they’re full kids on £500+ BMXs or £200 scooters driven there by mummy or daddy

Which great DHers started on a shit S/H bmx?

I’d be looking at that as I’d have thought being in control during a race far more important than out training in winter.

I mainly ride those sort of roads year round and in the dark so always use 4 season tyres (no bigger than 25mm though)
Rarely ride in busy traffic so normal brake pads are fine for me.

Ah.. Thanks mrblobbly, hadn’t thought of Di2 shifters being a problem but I don’t ever wear thick gloves. Strange you want a different position for winter though rather than just riding the hoods/tops a bit more.. How many miles are your long rides?

Interesting you ride different roads in winter too? Why’s that?

Being a tough beer drinking, fag smoking cartoon koala rather than a softy English squirrel my good (only) roadbike has mudguards and lights fitted all year round so it’s ready to be ridden no matter what the weather.
Do you guys really only ride your nice bikes in fair weather?

What are we talking here? £2k bikes carefully put away and crappy old £200 bikes actually ridden instead? or £5k+ superbikes? Either way, no thanks! as with mtb if it’s too precious to ride, why bother owning it?

    Cool!

    Happy days! ;D

Stabilisers are great for teaching wee ones how to pedal, balance bikes not so much 😉

Any kids ride on toys help balance, planning and navigation.

Expensive balance bikes offer very little over cheap ones or indeed a bike with pedals removed.

Gps devices aren’t actually all that accurate for at a glance current speed (if that matters to you)

Temp gauge is handy for me, a lot of my road rides are at night all year round, if the temp is close to zero, I know to head for the coast on well driven roads rather than the quiet roads in the hills (a scary mistake I’ve made in the past)
    Wireless comps are indeed rubbish.
Sigma does a wired comp that’ll do all you require and more.
