    Skiddaw?

Seen people getting ferried up there on a small motorised buggy

Yes, the new and old are both definitely press fit. The image below matches exactly what I purchased from chain reaction and the one that came from the bike shop where I purchased the bike.

They both look exactly the same as what originally came on the bike, apart from the tiny difference in size! Bike shop is trying to get some info from Sram tomorrow.

Both the new bearings I have tried can be pushed in by hand, and slide in and out easily 😕

I see Redbull have released an app available for Samsung smart tv last night. Not sure if other makes will have similar available.

The live show was working well, and a decent selection of other extreme sports videos available on demand..

Looking forward to watching the downhill world cup from the comfort of the sofa in HD 🙂

Much better than your average Sunday night telly!

It had a lot of riding footage from Roam / The Collective Dvd’s

I’m giving the zipvit ones a go at the moment. Can’t make my mind up whether I like the taste of them, but what attracted me to them is:

Unlike most low calorie sports drinks ZV0 uses natural flavours and colours and does not contain chemical additives like sodium benzoate, polyethylene glycol and acesulfame K.

Monday night’s episode was very good!

Much better then these ‘modern’ comedies where the actors take themselves too seriously.

Best comedy since Father Ted (I must like my Irish comedies!)

I’ve been to Dale Bottom (!) with my non-biking friends a couple of times in the last few years for hiking and drinking weekends.

They have always accepted groups no bother, I think it’s well known as the campsite in that area to go to if you’re in a group, and don’t mind a bit of noise! They open up another field if it’s a busy weekend.

Only basic facilities and a bit of a trek to Keswick and the nearest pub, but there is a bus stop right outside the site.

I was in the area yesterday and the snow is only on the higher mountain tops. I live about 30 minutes away and it has rained all day today so what little ice and snow there was, will have all gone by now. The temperatures are forecast to rise as well.

It’ll be very wet but Grizedale bridleways handle it well (bar the North Face!)

I bought a pair of the new Specialized defrosters but returned them unused after having second thoughts. Didn’t trust their water-proofness with the opening down the laces and reading comments about their lack of warmth.

The same shop recommended Northwave Celcius even though they did not stock them, so I bought a pair elsewhere and so far so good! Was out in them yesterday with 1 pair of thin socks and seal skinz and feet were warm!

I think sizing is VERY important, you want them slightly too big to allow air to circulate and allow you to wear thicker socks. If your feet are cramped then the cold will soon set in.

I have always found Specialized saddles the comfiest. Currently have a Henge.

I did try a charge spoon with all the positive comments, but I found it very uncomfortable…just to confuse you

    Running a vw 1.9 gt-tdi 130 here for the last 4 years.

Keep thinking of having a change for the sake of it, but can’t find anything that comes close to the economy and practicality that warrants the change. Easily get 58mpg on a-roads crusing at 50/60mph. It’s only at 50k miles so hardly at the end of its life.

I had a look at a 2.0 A3 last weekend and the dealer was in the process of installing new injectors on it due to the known problem. Think i’ll just stick with what i’ve got for another 12 months 🙂

I really like my Stumpy Evo 2011, so can only imagine the carbon 2012 will be ace! The 11 bike got good reviews all round, only held back by supposed mechanical faults.

Zesty probably does climb better, but I love the Evo on the ups and especially downs. Fun bike!

if it were a case of one bike to rule them all for me, this would probably be it.

This just about sums it up really!

No lack of choice in Ulverston!

I’d say Taste of Balti for the best quality Indian food, Stan Laurel pub has some great 2 for 1 offers mid week and good food. Also can’t go too far wrong with Rose & Crown or The Farmers.

DaveyBoyWonder, not exactly sure where you mean as it seems you refer to Parkamoor descent as what can be known as ‘Grandad, Dad and the Dentist’. Parkamoor descent actually drops into Nibthwaite.

“I took the BW that heads away from the visitor centre towards Satterthwaite ” Is this the same bridleway the North Face starts on, up from the visitor centre? If so then the footpath you are talking about could either be one that crosses the first singletrack climb on the NF, or another shorter footpath that starts from the hairpin bend on the fireroad.

I have been out there a few times but not done an awful lot of riding. Hardwood Hills isn’t anything special IMHO but a good few hours riding non the less. It’s not somewhere i’d like to rely on for my biking fix.

If I was going out there again I’d be checking out Blue Mountain http://www.bluemountain.ca/mtnbike.htm. The video on the front page should whet your appetite

I have just found out from family that there WAS a bike shop in Greenodd. About 70 years ago run by a grand fellow named Goerge Peake, on the main street next to the Machels pub. There is an old picture lying about somewhere in th archives, if I find it i’ll get it posted up.

Think the quotation marks may be hinting at something else?! Never been a ‘bike shop’ in Greenodd

Are these not long before the end of the trail, on the final descent

Yeah that's the ones. Worst trail feature i've come across anywhere.

I know exactly which you mean (before a large right-hand berm) and they are awful. They were built into the track by the trail-builders.

Much biggger than breaking bumps need to be, and they all differ in size by quite a margin.

Grizedale BW's and Claife is worth mentioning.

Also for a full on day with all the best bits of the area would be Tour of Coniston. Roughly compromises of Blawith, Stephenson Ground, Walna Scar, Coniston, Grizedale, Parkamoor.

Rob, just about all pubs apart from the Sun then 🙂

You need to install a modaco rom http://android.modaco.com/category/409/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/

Also need an unlock code. I managed it in several nervous hours, but not something i'd do again. There is always the chance you could brick the phone of course.

[edit] Beaten too it. Yeah bridleway at the car park is the best option.

My 2nd option would be slate mines to Torver.

Was there at the weekend and was thinking that closing it for a while would be a good option. Rather it was closed now and hopefully back to its best for the spring.

Also had a sneaky look at the log ride section. Not sure if its for me, but it will add interest for some people.

    Good work all round!

I'm currently beta testing ViewRanger on my HTC hero 🙂

Impressed with what they have created so far, still quite a few bugs and it's lacking in features, but it tracked my ride at the weekend perfectly. Can't seem to import gpx files yet but they are only upto version 0.1.6.

I enjoy the initial climb (as enjoyable as climbs can be!), but some parts are lacking variety. (Certainly better then fireroads though!)

Have ridden the board-walks many times, wet / dry, and never had a problem apart from when it first opened. Plenty of grip.

You could be right Grumm, never thought of that area. Just don't recognise the fence on the right at the bottom.
