I may have missed it but did they explain or show how the peloton split?? Kind of a big deal for the race overall, yet it was hardly mentioned and didn’t even show the main field coming in to the finish.
Good days racing though and nice to see pro’s racing in proper conditions

Breakaway group, rider on the left had just seen his mum, hence smile.
The Peloton, but where is Wiggo??
There he is! 😀
CammerFree MemberA classic example on today’s ride in Grizedale.
Coming down one of the bridleways to the visitors centre we were on a narrow track that popped out onto one of the main paths for walkers. I noticed a couple with young kids who were just about to cross the exit of our track, and I slowed down to pass, stopped, told them to be careful because there was another bike coming down. What did they do? Of course they all walked right into the middle of the exit of said track.
The only place I have witnessed real hate from walkers is the Loughrigg descent. But yes they all do seem very slow and have the reaction of a sloth.
CammerFree MemberVideo of improvement to Windermere bridleway here, as per original post
CammerFree MemberJust got back from a ride that took in the Loughrigg ‘Improvements’
I was a tad dissapointed to see what they have done but i’m sure i’ll get over it. But I would say it just makes the area look worse then previously, when it was a narrow bridleway out of sight.
More worried about the increase of these improvements around the Lakes. Recently they have made Walna Scar into a motorway which was a dissapointment, and noticing more and more minor fixes to places. It seems to be the thing the local authorities enjoy spending money on at the moment.
CammerFree MemberMy X9 rear shifter went kaput yesterday after 15 months use. Small plastic bit inside snapped, so going to try and warranty replace it tomorrow as it’s certainly not a wear and tear failure
Also had an XT shifter do the same but an SLX I replaced that with is still going strong.
CammerFree MemberIf you forget to turn it off in the car after a ride you should crop it to show your actual ride.
But I’d be more interested in removing rubbish segments that people have created. Some places just seem to be overrun with them and I feel Strava will become a victim of it’s own success.
CammerFree MemberBritish Summer, then go for Ski’s recommendation, else my Troy Lee XC have lasted longer then my 661 digit’s did.
CammerFree MemberWe hired a couple of decent carbon racers from a place in Playa Blanca.

The owner was very helpful giving us ideas for routes and setting the bikes up. Can recommend, but it was 3 years ago since I was there.
CammerFree Memberrecently? problem with the PF30 BB shell on my 2012 Stumpy Evo 29’er(aluminium), it was machined out of tolerance (just 0.2mm) causing ongoing BB issues since January when the bike was bought
sent my frame back to SBC UK, within 3 days was sent the Stumpy Expert 29’er (carbon fibre) frame free of charge with new BB and new headset
That’s very Interesting. I started a thread a while back because I was having the exact same problem. As I mentioned above it took a few phone calls to Specialized, and all I got was a new PF30 BB that still wasn’t quite the same size as what came on the bike and it goes in very slack. It’s actually been ok for a while but can’t see it being long before problems arise again.
CammerFree MemberI ride Specialized and i’ll talk to anyone on the trail, even Kona riders if i’m in a good mood
Experienced fairly good customer service with them, got a free replacement BB but took a few phone call from the local bike shop to get it sorted.
CammerFree MemberWatch out for Dani King’s mysterious fuzzy jumper on the bike folding section! Not sure what was going on there?!
CammerFree MemberThanks all, guess they don’t like me then 🙁 I have drifted over to Wiggle a time or two so that’ll teach me!
CammerFree MemberWhinlatter near Keswick is not far over the border if it has to be purpose built.
I always enjoy it round there but then you also have the whole of the Lake District to play in. Plenty of natural trails around Keswick, Borrowdale Bash, Tour of Skiddaw etc if you fancy following a route map.
CammerFree MemberIf you go to the link in the first post now you get this message
Sorry guys. If you’re trying to sign up for a free sample, the closing date was the 24th July 2012. No worries though. Check us out on Facebook, because we’re always running competitions and free give-aways.
If you’ve already signed up and you’re waiting for your freebie, we’ll be in touch. We’re pretty much buried in free samples here at HQ, but we’re packing and sorting as we speak (er…type). Thanks a billion 🙂
Pretty sure something will turn up soon and it isn’t a scam. Just have to be patient 🙄
CammerFree MemberDid we ever find out what the winning raffle numbers were?? 😕
Seriously though, awesome!
CammerFree MemberYes, top of South Loop. I went up a couple of weeks back. The few walkers we came across were talkative (in a good way)
CammerFree MemberWas up there a couple of weekends back. I think it’s more fun when it’s a bit damp.
Really enjoyed the North Descent from the top, a few slippy roots here and there to keep you on your toes, and they have done a bit of work to reduce the rather large braking bumps that had formed. So holding up well.
CammerFree MemberSamsung TV with Redbull.tv app installed
Excellent quality, no faffing about with laptops etc, but have experienced the odd connection loss 😕 Looks like the app is available on Samsung boxes / blu-ray players as well

CammerFree MemberI also have a Stumpy Evo 2011. It’s a great all round bike, and I could talk about how well it rides until the cows come home, BUT it has been high maintenance and disappointing in that respect
CammerFree MemberI get migraines quite often but they infrequently start with the aura. Usually a severe headache over one eye or down one side which also makes feel generally ill / loss of appetite etc.
I take Naramig, takes a while to kick but they do a great job. More info here but prescription only
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/aches-and-pains/medicines/naramig.html
My aura migraines always happen when I’m at work staring at the computer. Anything on a white background is impossible to read. The last one I had a large piece of white chocolate cake minutes before. Never touched it since and no aura migraine’s since. Should really test that theory 🙄
CammerFree MemberThis guy is showing immense bravery and balance but he really should have his helmet on
CammerFree MemberThe climb from Troutbeck has eroded a lot recently, making it much more difficult.
If anyone comes on here saying it is an easy climb they need to attempt the ‘new’ Garburn pass! I was suprised at how much it has changed! I used to be able to ride 99% of it (with a few rests!) but it was a struggle all the way last time.
CammerFree MemberIt is very odd that the “same” parts are a different size in the frame and that Spec told you to put the smaller one in given your reportings to them.
We even sent a video to Specialized showing how it fit. Their response as above ‘that’s how they go in, and to run it like that’
So much for working to a standard size. Interesting about the previous headset problems. Waiting to see if this topic comes up more as others replace their bb’s. I guess some will just throw the replacement in and not notice the difference.
CammerFree MemberExactly what I was thinking Mr Plow. I mentioned that at another local well known bike shop and got shot down immediatly saying they wouldn’t be allowed to do that. Well I think that is exactly what they have done!
I don’t think we have seen the end of this problem, the new BB won’t last long with the movement, it’s easily going to wear much faster then it should 👿
Not that I want your BB to fail any time soon Rickos but I’ll be interested to see how you get on
CammerFree MemberHi Rickos, Specialized just told me to use the new BB as it was, (ie just push it in by hand).
I’ve had the bike out for a couple of rides and whilst it has been ok, there is a slight bit of movement starting to appear if you move the cranks with your hands.
My LBS have made a note of the communication with Specialized so if the play gets worse or the BB doesn’t last very long i’ll be straight back to them.
Still doesn’t seem right to me, but can only see how it goes for now. I still think Specialized have messed up somewhere as it doesn’t get away from the fact that the measurements on original and new BB’s are different!
CammerFree MemberWhen did “mountains” get a 50% downgrade to 1000ft?
Apologies for this. It was a genuine mistake and only in my head trying to justify the purchase of my All Mountain bike.
Natural trails
Whats that then a trail made be a wild dear
Generally created by man on a horse, or footpaths 😉
CammerFree MemberI always thought of it as anything over 1000ft is classified as a mountain, hence requires an ‘all mountain’ bike to ride it to the required standard.
CammerFree MemberWhinlatter is in the mountains but I wouldn’t class the riding as ‘All Mountain’ unless you go off-piste
CammerFree MemberAnother thing to add, I notice an approx 5mpg swing between the summer months and winter months. Summer being the higher reading
CammerFree MemberI have a golf gt tdi 130 and 50mpg is easily achievable, although it has only done 50k mile.
On the motorway it returns around 54mpg. Taking it easy on a-roads it can get upto and above 60mpg 🙂
CammerFree MemberRode it today for the first time.
The video really doesn’t do it justice. Great fun, with sections on the vid you wouldn’t notice until you actually ride it.
Quite techy at the top, I actually found the switchbacks through the tress the most difficult part, but all the drop-offs are a good height and you get a big whoosh factor halfway down with a steep descent into a big berm (similar feeling to hully gully at Gisburn)
A lot of downhillers around today on big bikes showing how it’s done, but it’s perfectly ridable on most bikes. I just have to improve my lack of jumping skills!
Mix it in with the bridleways and you have a bit of everything 🙂
CammerFree MemberWhy worry about the trail grading. Just ride it for what it is and enjoy.
It’s good to have somewhere in the area to improve jumping skills, although there is a notable shortage of rocky black graded gnaar sections in the Lake District 😉
CammerFree MemberAwaiting a response from Specialized who are talking to their people in America. The frame might be going in for warranty.
Checked with a couple of local shops and none have not seen the problem before. I have compared 3 new BB’s with the original, and all have been a different size.
So no, I haven’t had an answer yet but i’ll report back.
CammerFree MemberBit tiring reading the few comments complaining about a new track that hasn’t even officially opened yet.
I know a lot of work has gone into this trail for almost 12 months, and I never expected to see the like in Grizedale. Looking forward to giving it a whirl and big thanks to the volunteers.
Hoping this is just the beginning of new trail building in Grizedale and I hope to be along sometime to lend a hand.
If you look at what has been achieved at Gisburn in a relatively short time, if Grizedale gets anywhere near that level of new trail building to go alongside the existing network of bridleways it’ll be awesome 😀
CammerFree MemberFor the area nothing beats Grizedale
There are some fairly decent routes you can put together from Staveley-In-Cartmel but if you have the time i’d head to Grizedale
CammerFree MemberAny of you trying this kind of terrain think before you do it!And wear the right protection as he only had his helmet on
He could have at least put a pair of shorts on!
Joking aside I hope the guy is alright, and recovers quickly
CammerFree MemberSurely the best Gisburn Slab video is this one? Don’t watch if you are trying to pluck up the courage to ride it 😉
