You have to use the international site if you live outside the UK. I live in Switzerland and as my address is swiss i cannot use the Kindle UK market. Something to do with Copyright.

I got the 3G version as I often walk into a book shop at an airport etc, think I like that and can buy and download as I walk out.
Buying exclusively from Amazon is not too bad as they have a huge range but if you live abroad then it’s annoying as you do not access to the UK book market; it’s mainly the US which for me is not the best
I did find that it was also quite to do some monochrome surfing whilst stuck in Amsterdam airport.

Saw a somewhat moving plea from a rapidly fading Bobby Charlton last night who asked why England had not hosted it now for so long and should host it again. Probably not now in his lifetime.

Went to Keele ’92-96. Best time of my life played rugby lots and found out I preferred it to football. Met a girl there and then another and so on. And found out that if you drink too much you could fall over and break something. Got a 2:1 in something no where related to what I do now.

Then did masters down in Sussex after a year off paying of a minor overdraft. As I lived in Brighton I ran up a debt of 10k but did an It subject so paid it off in my first job as they got taken over by a much larger company. Real piece of luck.

I really feel sorry for people trying to go now. Its seems it’s so business orientated both in terms of getting the best degree for your pound and funding the right career afterwards. When I went we just grew up in a big play-school.

Now as I sit in my grown up job on a Friday afternoon I wish I was back at Uni! Grass is always greener…

i live in a valley so if i waited for the sun to rise in the winter it would be the afternoon. so anything that will kick-start me out of bed is a bonus.

when at university played footie with Robbie Williams – he was just stating out in Take That and living in Stoke.
Sister when living in los angeles went on a date with George Michael – waste of time that one.
But best of all had a pool game against spider stacey of the pogues.

Did one Saturday – sprint distance. In Switzerland the swim is done in the lake which is quite tricky if you are used to the swimming pool, as there is real bumping and pushing which you cannot train for.
So for my training I just rode home from work, parked up the bike and went for a run. They are very serious out here about Triathlons – and age and gender has nothing to do with performance! You get some mighty fit old ladies.

So I presume you could read Singletrack magazine on this device?

Also being an ex-pat i subscribed rather than having to find a shop with yesterday's newspaper. But i have little time to read it.
In the future might be more useful if you can get it on an I-Pad or something.

Down the local bar tonight to watch the second game of the tournament and boo France. A few people with us no little about football but want to come for the atmosphere.
Really looking forward to the WC – rather have been playing – but will watch and pick my rides more carefully for a month.

Love football but I have no particular affiliation to any team. Yesterday my girlfriend dragged me off to Milan to get a suit for my mates wedding but as she shopped I went on a tour of the San Siro there were about 100 people an hour, men woman and children from all over the world. Says it all about a shared passion.
    Never got the suit.

I'd go swiss at the moment unless money is a really big factor. I fly from Zurich.

I would still go to the police and the British Consulate and tell them your story. Not sure if you are visiting Switzerland or living there but they do have some funny procedures that are not intuitive sometimes.

This must have been a one off event as this is a really safe country.

Oh dear I had exactly the same experience. My best friend since I was 5. I was his best man at his wedding and godfather to his 2 children. He told me he had pneumonia and it was treatable but it turned out to be non-lymphoma cancer. Took only a month.
    We were all devastated.

Strangely the funeral was somewhat surreal as I live abroad and so did many of his friends by then. So we did just talk about the good times.

Agree with Alpin here – the hours are much longer here than the UK so you really only get the weekends to do the Alps. But i ride home across some of the foothills each day so it makes up for some of it.
Unless you get a job as a guide.

Cantona (I think) once said that Pele was the icing on a great cake butMaradona was the cake. But Messi might well prove to be better if he has a great world cup.
