I bought the 18 inch as I felt the 20 was too big but now having to sell as I find it to cramped when climbing. 19 inch would be perfect im 6 foot 1. Come on orange get your act together obviously a market out there for a 19 inch

it takes 10 minutes tops and all you need is a flat blade screwdriver and some lube (float fluid about £10 lasts years). place the screwdriver in the slots that have already been placed there for you then slowly leaver up seal then add lube to sponge rings and push the seals back down sorted. If you cant be bothered to do that you deserve for the forks to fail.

I’m in similar position got to wait till end of may for my canyon frx 6.0 but hopefully it will be worth the wait and the saving over comparable bikes softens the blow

You can pick ex demo bikes up from alpine bikes for 1680 so that gives you £900 for upgrades on your £2600 budget guide

Crikey how many trail centres have good transport links there all in the middle of nowhere come to think of it most descent riding is in the middle of nowhere so transport aint the issue here. As for not getting at least 1000 new riders using the trails I would expect that as the minimum as noted in several posts you open it to a much wider audience ie 140mm travel bikes who cant be bothered with push ups. More riders can only be good for the local community not harm it as it would generate much more income bars, hotels, restaurants especially when a lot of them are struggling to break even now. The only real point you make is it will mean people using other places less which would harm investment in them but that also contradicts your point about not getting 1000 new riders.
by the way im not a downhiller but would still love to see something like this happen as it can only develop the sport and attract new people to it

5lab I agree with you totally 14 riders a day is nothing especially as I stated earlier it will also appeal to all mountain riders me being one. If anything it more feasible than xc trails as it generates more income

Also how does a xc trail generate funds to make it sustainable beside the £3 car parking fee it can’t cover it all. How is glentress paying its loan back. I think the up keep of it is very feasible with even very low numbers as someone calculated earlier.

To be honest £5 million isnt a lot of money when you look at the wider picture. Yes current numbers (downhillers) would make it look unfeasible but riding numbers would probably double at least if there was lift assisted riding if not more. Then factor in the all mountain (140mm travel +) crowd becasue in reality you dont need a downhill bike to ride most of it apart from the obvious bits and numbers increase dramatically I know myself and other members of my riding club 50 or so riders would love something like this. A day riding the red at glentress or a day with lift assisted trails I know what most would prefer. The only reason they dont get used now is becasue people cant be bothered to push up.Spending money on blues is all well and good to encourage new riders but there isn’t much difference between them as there is only so much you can do to them before interesting features make it into a red. If they built more trails I know its more money on top of the lift cost based on fun flowy reds its makes it even more appealing to a wider audience yes downhillers may see this as them loosing out but it would be a fair compromise.

Longer stems not really an option 70mm is the longest I will ride anything longer makes the steering feel weird imo. I guess i will just persevere and if I still find it awkward in a month i’ll just buy the bigger size

Taff that is what I was basically wanting to know do you compromise the downs and fun bits or go for better pedalling on the long slogs uphill. I guess i better get used to the cramped climbing for the grin inducing descending

I really just wanted to know if there was much difference in the two sizes before I drove 100 mile to demo a 20″

I thought about a layback seatpost but dont think I could live without my reverb now. I think my problem is quite a long torso

I just feel like im perched on top of it when pedalling. Downhill its awesome as im off the seat and its lowered. Just contemplating buying a 20″ if it would be better

Well if hes the same as me it was because they rode so differently and its nice to have an option of what to ride

im in the same situation apart from it being a zesty its remedy. The remedy cimbs better and descends well and when I think I have made my mind up take the orange out and it never fails to put a smile on your face on the way down. I think its all down to if you feel it is worth the extra effort on the ups to benefit from the downs

I have a set of the new ones and when comparing them to my friends two year old set they are noticeably brighter. I did the comparision in the local woods where ambient light was very minimal. We changed lights over half way through ride. I use mine on low setting when climbing and high setting when descending I get about 2 and a half hours on a half epic battery and about 4 and a half from a full epic. So with a quick battery swap halfway through ride about 20 seconds due to having a extra gecko mount.I can happily do a 4 hour ride without worrying about a blackout

I always back all my riding gear in bike bag including shoes, shorts, tops and underwear for the week to pad it out. Then pack essentials in my small case this way saves paying the extra for hold luggage. Never had my bag checked or any problems checking it in.

Used the superstar sintered pads in my elixirs for my trip to alps and they were no problem at all did over 200 miles of descending and still had a few rides when I got back with them.

I went for a walk round the trails yesterday to see what condition they were in and they were very wet. The only route that wasnt to bad was the rocky route down from the top of the crag. V1, v2 and balcony were really wet and badly cut up in places. on the other side walked super g and skeleton and both were bad with skeleton being very wet
