i have one of the originals, has been useful. protolabs do machining quite cost effectively

i have an inpower on my xc bike, find it useful for data collection after a race, and also useful to stop me going too deep at the start of a long race, used to affect in 12hour races, keeping NP output consistent early on, all goes to sh#t when its mega muddy and rains and can’t see the thing!

i tend to drive in then ride home, just leave a bag of clothes at work, then just bring lunch with me in the morning, fairly long 40km so i’m not desperate to ride both ways in the winter

I’ve got an xg-1150 cassette, you’re doing well if you can get 4000miles out of one! i’m in no rush, will keep an eye on amazon!

what is up with the weather forecast? look fairly good apart from the storm tomorrow. I don’t believe it gets ridden much there so the trails are usually fairly good. it was quite grotty last year but I think it rained the night before. i think i’ll do the 4hr, 6 months out of racing is long enough.

left my lovely alpkit sleeping bag, at a house somewhere, annoying thing is previously i carted it round for 3months whilst i was touring and never lost it then!!

i run my Roubaix 30c tubeless tyres at 50psi, I don’t run tyres at more than 75psi even 25c, you’ll go no faster all expel less energy having them at 80psi!!

great PSA, got some 34 Rhythm’s for my chinese 27.5plus bike, after i discovered 9zero7 sell the same frame with 130mm forks, should make a fun trail bike

tricky with no ride time on the 24th, i try to get as much done on the 24th as i can, last year was tough because it got real icey and i came off twice in one ride. two rides a day is sometimes a good plan to fit alongside family plans, but its meant to be fun 😆

Stage 12 could be a cracker! hopefully the cobbles are tricky like a few years back as they were the undoing of froome that year

i’ve just been down the di2 route on my pivot, i used xt shifter linked to EW-90 B 5 port junction box (you could use the same) with the battery and rear mech plugged in to that, this worked well, but I added a small JC41 junction box between mech and 5 port box so I could charge the battery by just removing the seatpost.

Seems a shame, they have a lot of characterful riders, and finally a few good results

probably better for an endurance performance would be becoming more fat adapted, `i found it boosted my ability to fuel for endurance better than purple poo

always amusing reading the rapha overpriced comments. I ride alot, and spend a lot on kit, and I own quite a bit of rapha kit, i have a winter jacket which is 5 years old and still perfect, unlike my gore mtb jacket which is good for nothing even when reproofed, i have a pair of bibshorts that were the only shorts i wore when i toured for 3 months and just wore at a 24hr race last weekend and still comfy and no issues. some other main brand kit last 1/4 of that time, but i guess if you ride once a month and winge on forums rest of the time it probably lasts ok

well that was hard, still can’t feel my quads or feet! so happy to come 4th in 24hr solo! few weeks ago i wasn’t sure i’d cope with the whole race due to a longtime injury, but despite my hatred of mud and rain i got through it thanks to an incredible pitcrew!

Had my caddy 4 years, never had any issues, get around 50mpg, good for bikes, i have a bike rack in the back which hold one bike upright.

i’m back for another try at 24hr solo, fond memories from my last go, better prepared this time! i’ll be one of the many fluro pivot riders…..

like my pivot 429c frame, not the lightest but copes well 24hr races or alps riding, seem to go fairly cheap, or many chinese frames can be had for that much but would need a shock

as a Longleat local the trail building has become fairly extensive, I best take notice of this! rather not loose our trails, perhaps they need to stop being marked with arrows!

can’t talk from experience of fatherhood, but from being time crunched i drive to work then ride home, get up at 6 and ride the 40km to work, drive home that evening having left the van at work the night before, maybe not the same thing, but mornings are valuable if they can be used constructively

sacked off xx1 cassettes as the prices have gone berserk, trying a hope cassette, seems a tad clunky to start with but so did xx1

having ridden some of the route i’m in awe of their mental fortitude as well as their athletic ability, the second half of the route is much hillier so be interesting to see how it plays out

i like mine for bashing round wiltshire on, no maintenance required so ideal winter fork, dead light and better than rigid which is the alternative. rode swinley on it which was fine, would get overwhelmed on anything too rough

good thread, i always had trouble with my niner for the amount of rust it accumulated. i believe sam does treat the frames from new with frame saver, but wont last for ever!

exposure traceR has been good, small and neat design, and a great UK product/company. still use my 10year exposure light on a daily basis

I’m working for Alpcycles.com we run guided tours of central alps, we ride each day with guests and take the weather into account, when riding to 2600m this comes in handy as it can turn pretty grim! transfers, accom, food included

they will be fine if you’r sensible when descending and it doesn’t rain too much, i’ve used both and prefer the predictability of alu rims. i’m working as a road guide for the summer and i’m not allowed to use carbon rims

start my sabbatical from a real job in 10 days! 3 months road guiding in the french alps then 5 months touring round Auz/NZ/SEA. thought after nearly not being able to ride my bike properly again due to accident last summer i’d hit it big time this year!

i have already ordered the frame, lovely Travers custom. Jungle have replied saying they might offer them in the future as they’ve had a few requests. As a growing market i think more fork options would be helpful, as i’m not sold on bar bags

@dave1986 how did you get hold of the rose fork? looks like what i’m after as i want rack mounts, i think the new tripster fork should have them eventually, but not sure on eta
