what the heck happened to that guy on the first straight after the start, he looked a mess and his bike was 50 yards away from him?

yeah that was me, turns out the puddle i tried to ride through was a hole, i guess the front end vanished, was tanking it so went flying, knocked the crap out me and my face, 5hrs in a neck brace…… lush

Swift or most Niner frames are great rigid, especially a Sir.9

i’m going to try shimano as i have a custom fit place near by. i just find that to get them tight (when wearing thin summer socks) across lower part of the shoe the velco straps are pulled to their limits, even then i find i get movement

looks nice Gee, really like the dropout design, seems a sensible way of doing it, niner ebb’s work well but still a faff adjusting them. surely it can’t be that silent with hope hubs 😉

if you use a fizik saddle their clip-in saddle bags are good, small version fits tyre levers, tube, puncture repair kit/allen keys

mine were complete buggers to inflate on stans 355 rims with a compressor, never had a problem with other tyres before…

I am considering a pair of the FRM wheels as well, I have stans crest, arches and 355 but the build quality isn’t great, but the tubeless compatibility is very good, hopefully they will do an eyeletted version soon!

really great race, laps around 8 miles maybe shorter, i lapped in around 40/42mins and came 5th so around 8miles i’d say, no major hills on the course other than the grassy climb out the arena and a few short steepish climbs, fast and flowing course with not as much traffic as say bikefest etc, i think i’ll be back again next year 😀 oh and isn’t it 6hrs?

for summer, now 34:19, works much better, no half link needed

for winter, 32:18 as had a surly stainless chainring

@bullheart u must have legs of iron! could never hack 34:16!!!

my last resort is to get it rebuilt, reluctant due to cost of build and spokes, and unsure who would cover it. as far as i know they didn’t use threadlock, they just blame me for choosing thin gauge spokes, despite them being wheel builders who know more than me..

just wanted to try it before going down the respoking route

I ride with them most weeks, great mix of groups and speeds, our trails suffer slightly in the winter but still plenty of fun bits to keep the interest. 2 try rides, tend to leave at 7 prompt. come along we’re a friendly bunch 😀

(i’m chris if you come along, rides singular swift or niner…)

    2 x 29er rigid singlespeed’s
1 x fixed wheel road bike
1 x ti xc race bike

should be cheap to run but always seem to be buying things…..
