run a marathon along the canal while your SO cycles

Ergh I HATE running (mainly ‘cos I’m rubbish at it)

TBH I hate any party that is about me. HTH.

It wouldn’t be about you, so don’t worry :-)
I know what you mean though, I think I’d only do big party if there was someone else with a birthday near mine to share it with and take the heat off me a little

    …even have a little cry.

If I want to, if I want to…?

or bike holiday of a lifetime in Australia/US

Sounds amazing but it’s in 19 days and I only have 4 days holiday left to take from work

Someone must have done something awesome recently?

I’m North West based if it helps.

Marmalade only please. Unless it’s not for breakfast then jam or beans is passable.

    Or cheese, don’t forget cheese!

p.s I can cut bread but we get rye so it’s firmer / easier than normal bread.

I’ve GOT to fit my mudguards!
Waterproof trousers that I found 3/4 of the way up Blencathra, wet feet but dry legs.
Baa baa top and mega old raceface wind / showerproof.
Dry socks in my bag for when I get to work.
    Only 5 miles though :-)

I think that should be my 2011 rule. Maybe even replacing ‘bike’ with ‘life’.

1st rule of life – never drink so much the night before as to affect life

    I’m in.
I’m 30 this year so can’t be overweight, unfit and 30. Too depressing.
Might go for slightly overweight, bit more fit and 30… that feels better. :-)

how about sharing some of your opinions on the regulars that you referenced. How are they viewed by the outside world?

This could be dangerous :!:

Sat morning ill, in bed till 1ish after a rough night. Sat night went out to a friends for tea, ate too much and then proceeded to drink too much at another mates until 5am… Sunday in bed again recovering from too much alcohol consumption.
Now doing that kicking myself at a wasted weekend thing.
No booze for me for the next couple of weekends :!:

El Rincon is a good recommendation for scran if you can’t stretch to The Modern (which is the restaurant at the top of Urbis)
You could always go to The Modern for a posh cocktail, high up n that so it’s a nice view.

Depends what job you’re being crb’d for. A lot of places crb and then for most stuff can use discretion when hiring.
I would have thought (given the circumstances of your ‘crime’) that even if you had been cautioned they wouldn’t not hire you for it if you explained!

    Surely?

Drinking at the Marble? Sheesh I go there alone with my dog and a bloody newspaper.

I most certainly wouldn’t take a girl there!

Pants – I once took a girl there for a first date.

Afternoon tea at the Radisson Edwardian. You’ll need to book a table.

    This is a good idea.

Arriving at work and your colleague having a go at you after you spent 2 hours picking up their work for them on Friday because they were off sick (potentially / pretty much def’ fake sick)

I’m not sure I agree with the once a cheater always a cheater thing. It’s always good to talk it through with the other person. I think you can tell if someone really regrets something.

Then it’s up to you to decide if you can forgive and to some extent, over what ever kind of time period, you’re going to need to forget as well otherwise it will always be something that hangs between you.

That’s a rubbish start to the year though and like others I suggest riding bike, def’ not drinking, doing the things that make you feel happy, maybe writing things down so they don’t swim around in your head so much.

    Printworks?

    Just kidding.

Band on the Wall is a nice choice, maybe drinks at The Marble first, nice beer / nice tiles.

The Recorders exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery is fun.

Someone took me to The Midland for afternoon tea recently, I thought I’d hate it a bit, I didn’t it was lovely!

I’m a fan of my surly crosscheck. Use it to get to work and back and for canal towpath / round delemere etc. I’m thinking of doing lejog on it this year (if I can afford the time off work) but don’t know how it feels properly loaded up.

Garlic, tin of tomatoes, tin of chickpeas, couple of chillis, load of cheap green olives (or expensive nice ones if you’re rich) cook until the chickpeas are soft and eat with a chunk of bread.
You can sling some red wine in or some sun dried toms to make it a bit richer if you fancy / have them in the kitchen.

Mine started to appear and then never developed into a full blown cold. Feel like it’s lying in wait now ready for Christmas day. If it impacts my Christmas lunch and boozing I’m going to be angry.

Used to get this all the time even with good hand creams like Norwegian formula. Invested in some scarily expensive kiehls stuff this year and it’s been amazing.

I don’t know what halo reach ostrich culling is but I’m going to try and focus on the never drinking again feeling you’re having to restrain myself this lunchtime. I wonder if it will work

Peas and mange tout are doing well here. Potatoe plants are HUGE. Had some mega beetroot this year as well and all the salad is lovely lovely. I've also had the best crop of strawbs yet! Parsnips failed to germinate (forgot about them and sowed late anyway) I've got my first flower on an achocha plant though (first time I've grown it, never tasted it before – excited!)

Be nice to women, as in don't assume we know nowt (and if we don't then don't speak to us like we're morons) And don't assume we want to buy a pink hybrid :-)

We're probably over sensitive about it in a lot of cases but rubbish, patronising experiences in shops is what makes me travel 50 mins to buy stuff from a bike shop I rate.

Plus we tell other women about our good / bad experience and could generate you some extra custom

nb this obviously applys to every male customer you serve as well but us girls do tend to be overlooked a little

Carrots for brekkie were actually pretty good.
Black tea is a taste I'm aquiring.

Smoked mackerel wilted spinach and walnuts for lunch is sounding good!
Local beer festival tongiht and tomorrow but I'm planning on a glass of red or two instead.

This would fit in the plan I think…

Roast some beetroot in olive oil and then let it cool down a bit.
Mix on a plate with spinach and rocket some walnuts and flaked warm smoked mackerel. Make a dressing out of some horseradish, olive oil, (lemon juice – eek – red / white wine vinager?)salt and pepper.

    :D

I'm knocking together a plan minus the tomatoes for now, see how I get on. :-)

A good easy recipe is; onions & garlic fried off in olive oil add chickpeas, sherry vinager and chicken stock, cook for a bit add a massive bag of spinach and let it wilt mmmm

I think that would be pretty good for the meat eaters if you added some chicken as well.

I'm going to make some tom yam soup for a tasty lunch tomorrow

Ok, I think I'm in for the next three weeks starting tomorrow.
It will be bread and pasta that I'll struggle with I reckon.

AND tomatoes…! Are tom's out? I know they're a fruit but a couple of people have mentioned eating them? Loads of sauces I make are tomato based (as are my curries :?)
