I’m actually waiting for an xbox game to come from Play.com which was ordered on the 25th Dec! Ah well, less game time means more bike time so I’m happy enough until it arrives.
bwoolymbrFree MemberI am currently half way through a bowl of pea and ham soup (a personal fave) but on other days I can also be found enjoying leek and potato, tomato and basil and fish chowder, along with many others. Yesterday I had slow roasted lamb with root vegetables (soup) which was incredibly tasty.

bwoolymbrFree MemberI got a packet yesterday that was posted on the 10th Dec. The seller on Ebay that I bought the item off actually re-sent me another one on the 4th Jan and it arrived on the 5th; a day before the one posted on 10th Dec from the same post office….shocking.
I’m also waiting on four packets from Hong Kong that were posted on 10th Dec…I expect they’ll be with me around June time!
bwoolymbrFree MemberI often offer to show ramblers my bell when they ask me where it is….well, I did do until PC Plod decided to pay me a visit. In that visit, he explained that it is actually illegal to show your bell to ramblers (or anyone in fact,) no matter how shiny and nice it looks.
Since my stern telling off, I’ve simply been parping once or twice when going past ramblers…It doesn’t have quite the same shock value but the look on their faces when the smell becomes apparent is still jolly amusing!
bwoolymbrFree MemberPS. Yes that is an industrial estate…don’t let the houses and shop fronts make you think otherwise.
PPS. The dog’s bike had hope hubs (sprayed matt silver) so I heard him coming with plenty of time and injuries were avoided…however, he didn’t give me a ping-ping on his bell when approaching and had I been a rambler, this situation may have got even nastier.
bwoolymbrFree MemberOh, and if I see a dog on a bike coming for me, then one of my canine protection officers splits off from the group and takes them down before any perceived threat can become a reality.
The other day, I came across a particularly nasty piece of work when cycling through the industrial estate near to my house –
He got taken down with maximum force.
bwoolymbrFree MemberI’ve always been a firm believer in fighting fire with fire, which is why I always carry at least one dog with me on my bike when I’m out riding…sometimes two if I expect to encounter a multiple-dog attack scenario.
bwoolymbrFree MemberTo be honest Cinnamon_girl, if I was out riding and ramblers kept stopping me and asked me 21 questions It’d annoy the hell out of me. I mean just imagine if people in cars did it..both drivers stop and wind down their windows and have a good old chinwag. I can’t see it happening really but if you’re friendly and polite I see no reason why a rambler should be annoyed with you, after all taking a step to one side to let someone pass isn’t that taxing a task, even for an old aged pensioner (which not all ramblers are.)
bwoolymbrFree MemberHow about this for a bell….
A quick parp from about two meters away is sure to let any ramblers know you’re there!
+1 if it’s on a canal towpath as the resulting dive into the water by the rambler would mean that the path was free for any further cyclists who come past within the next 5 minutes (or however long it takes them to get out of the water)
On a serious note however, I see nothing wrong with slowing to a near stop and saying “Excuse me.” It’s polite and as long as cyclists are allowed on the path/trail that you are using, you have as much right to be there as any rambler.
bwoolymbrFree MemberTroutie,
Just letting you know that payment has been sent to you by Paypal and I’ve included the details and my address in the notes.
Thanks,
Bwoolymbr
bwoolymbrFree MemberTroutie,
That’s great, well for ease I’d like to get the kit and one of the boxes from you if that’s ok? If so, should I send £28 as a Paypal gift to the email address in your profile, including my name and address with the order details in the notes section so you know that the payment came from me?
Thanks,
BwoolymbrbwoolymbrFree MemberTroutie – I’ve just noticed an earlier post from you that has the whole kit i.e. the LEDs, reflectors, alu plate for the driver, bracket mount, alu L plate etc and so if you’ve got the whole lot and the hammond case, could you put me down for one and let me know how much to send you through Paypal?
Thanks again!
bwoolymbrFree MemberHey, I’m thinking of building one of these lights and was wondering about a couple of things:
Troutie – Would you please be able to supply me with 2 of the XPGs, a couple of reflectors and one of the silver Hammond boxes?
BCT – Do you have any of the drivers, switches and power leads for sale currently (I’d be after two female ended leads and one male ended one)? I’ve had a scout around Ebay but can’t seem to find any at present (though it may just be me being blind.)
I don’t know how it works with posting price info on here but if you could both get me prices for everything if you have the bits in stock, it would be greatly appreciated.
Troutie – I’m probably asking a silly question but I’m thinking of using either a 7.4v or 14.8v Lipo pack for the battery but I was wondering which voltage you would advise I go for and what Mah rating should I be looking for?
Any help given would help me out and I would be very grateful as although I’ve completed DIY projects in the past, this is my first time dabbling with electronics (although I doubt it’ll be my last!)
Thanks,
Bwoolymbr
