I am aware of the mechanical pitfalls. Before I spend lots of dosh on an old but nice bike. I would have liked to hear that someone had done it and it rode well thanks

I need new forks as my 26″pace forks are hopeless. Seems an easy swap but quality 650b forks even second hand are far more expensive than Fox 32s which are available
For £100 sometimes on e Bay. Thought some 650b’s might give me a more modern ride though

Ta brain unit is slightly different. But gives me an idea how  to make  a bracket now. The option to buy a bracket must be ziltch

    Thanks

I went into the Nordic area today. I couldn’t find any jumpy bits. Plenty of tricky descents and very slippy after the recent rain. Bit short to .It will take me ages to find my way around in this area.

Just an update on the RC41 air forks. They are back in service now after fitting a steel steerer tube and quick check, over clean up and new oil.
I had forgot how good they are! I had some rc 36ers on the hard tail they were good and light but the 41’s are much better, definate evolution there!. Just waiting for the lighter springs to put in my rc 40’s then they will be reinstalled on my unloved full suss!
Anybody want any tipps on changing the steerer’s .”Alloy ones crack”
    Chase me up

Possibly so .I am out of the seat in both cases ! The issue I usually have is on downhill fast aproach jumps where I strugghe to get much of a pump in at all! i’m getting to an age where I should’nt be worrying about such things. but I do enjoy getting a run right and uneventfull though!

My air forks are limited edition 57 x cam .They have more travel than the fighters that I have! Very confusing I can only tell what I see.
I do know about the adgustable travel on the springs !I use it to reign it to 100 travel. 130 is to much for the bike they are on!

Yes it would have been easier to be happy with one .but I got sucked into all the hype. two issues with the full suss I am a lot higher from the ground ” higher bottom bracket” I find it scary on steep drops . I don’t have a dropper post! The bike is front heavy ,so nose dives more when attempting the same small jumps that I do. Hard to quantify precise but I feel more in controll “in a bouncy sort of way” on the hard tail

Says on the legs of the spring forks “Fighter” they areI believe 130 travel. The air pair have more travel. to much for my intended bike!

Hi Very confusing I thought the Fighter model was the rc41

    RC40 and RC41 XCAM
    RC40 and RC41 Fighter

My other pair are air xcam I am sure they can be converted as I have both sets of lowers together . they are nigh on identical! Re rc 40’s The weaker spring will be my only option unless the offered are very cheap I’m an ex Northener
