Don’t bother with the Shimano fittings and hose (they still appear to leak)….if you are going to buy Shimano then get some goodridge steel braided hoses and fittings.

One of the exercises the Marines do a lot of for example – part of their so called ‘controlled aggression’ consists of recruits punching each other in the face as hard as possible until one falls over. You are not allowed to give up. You either keep punching or you fall over. They very rarely do this in the regular army because they seem to focus more on training them as tactical thinkers rather than focusing on making them hard as nails.

    I Lol’d a bit.

Good luck to the OP’s lad.

I rather like the look of the bike though…. need to have a go on one of these to see if it needs a damper or not…

How is a Zero stem without a steering damper working out for you then?

Cuz the Mondraker team riders are using them…. which tells me they probably ride like shit without them and old school Hopey steering dampers have a habit of ovalizing single crown headtubes.

KK, I’ll try this – although I reckon I still want a coil shock as well. I’ve been on the fence for months about it, I think this is the final straw as I don’t want to have to do this in the Alps next year. I think I’d have a hissy and would be very tempted to through my bike off the side of a cliff if it died at 3000m.

Thanks guys, you’re loads of help! I really appreciate it.

The rock shox vid says that you should depressurize the IFP before taking it apart.

Isn’t the IFP pressurized with nitrogen? What’s the standard pressure on the Mega for the IFP? Secondly what should I use to fill it with nitrogen again.

Sounds like a lot of hassle imo and I’ve just seen a Vivid for 240 euro’s which is sorely tempting (despite the lack of titanium springs available for them) as I guess the weight wouldn’t matter for when a coil shock is called for.

Cool, will try that thanks. I can’t bugger it up by throwing it in water can I?

    bwaarp

I might try that, it’s just pressurized things even if they’ve been depressurized don’t seem to mix with me. They tend to go bang.

What about the 150mm KS Lev? Is it actually available to buy anywhere?

I REALLY REALLY want to drill the bottle cage mount on my mega because I want the 150mm drop…my bikes not with me

    1) Can you actually feed it through that CNC section? As in are there holes in the CNC section to allow the hose to get from the down tube to the seat tube.

    2) Don’t care for the warranty now, only a few months left on it….what would doing this do to the resale value?

    3) Do you reckon it would weaken the frame?

DC. Speeding is speeding, it’s only excusable to a degree if you’re in an emergency i.e. driving someone to hospital.

What about when they put 60 limits 3 times in a row on the variable speed cameras that are on the m6, when it’s perfectly clear….followed by a 50…and then another two 60’s. Meaning that 90 percent of the drivers get flashed by the 50 camera?

Bwaarp did you really call a French girl a bitch in a library?

This threads already been locked so I’ll discuss it only once, maybe I went to far. It’s not a very nice word and I do feel a little bit bad about saying it, on the other hand she spoke perfect English as evidenced by her phone conversation and there was a big sign right above….and more of them dotted all around the room saying “Silent Study Area”.

I wouldn’t normally bandy the word around like a gangster out of Compton – deadlines can just be frustrating sometimes – especially when you’ve had to move already because of noise in a library.

What I will do, is put this word in the same box as the “N-word”….thinking about it….it’s just as bad. There’s no excuse for using it tbh.

Perfect setup for me would be:

    1 DH Bike (Nukproof Pulse)
1 150f/130r mm FS (Nukeproof TR)
1 130/140 mm hardtail (650B Saracen Zen X or a Privee Shan in the gulf colours)
1 4x/jump bike (The Nukeproof Snap for 869 on CRC looked tempting)

Currently just have a Nukeproof Mega

Sooo how come Bikeradar gave it 2 stars out of 5 and said that it was so harsh even for a hardtail it barely sticks to the trail.

Example in the OP is not a good one, Chinky for a chinese takeaway is refering to the food and has no racist connotation wheras words like **** are flat out insulting and are meant to offend

    Can I order a **** from here?

Either both words are bad or the both words are okay. I prefer the former.

Either really. Depends if the lighting in the library set the right mood?

There’s some dimly it study rooms right next to us, I feel that if I ask her I might get done for something or other like harassment.

Serves her right. Nothing against tourists or those from across the pond, but the loud mouthed, cocky, arrogant, rude and disrespectful ones make my blood boil.

I’d never go to another country and start acting like a **** in a library. Tough peanuts, she deserved it.

I saw french kids spitting on Nelson’s plaque on the victory the other day. I nearly went back in to eject them over the starboard side.

It’s all the undergraduates including white British students, the only ones who are actually polite are the Chinese and Japanese students. Not once have I ever had a problem with them, yesterday I had two Japanese students ask me if they were being to loud……in a group study area.

It would be nice if people learn’t to be polite again. The library is meant to be somewhere you can get away from distractions at home or your housemates.

“Hey Ladies, if you want to chat why not go to the bar, fancy a drink. obtenir l’amour de votre manteau, vous avez tiré”

Should have done that, should have messed my hair up…done my crazy eyes (they’re very googly) and made her think I was a serial killer. Then again the other people around me would have thought I was weird instead of just laughing.

I can’t abide rude people in libraries.

10 minutes of talking and me asking politely to quieten down prior. So yes, I did.

TBH a lot of the undergrads do it but it was taking the cake this time talking at the top of your voice on the phone.

I wasn’t about to move for the 2nd time to get away from one.

Just in case you guys get on the outrage bus, there’s a massive sign over her head that says “SILENT STUDY AREA” on a 2 foot wide poster.

I doubt it. Just because he’s been in the sun, it won’t stop him going on ops in afghan or elsewhere.
Like it or not, these guys have a high level of trust placed in them. They are able to legally handle and when necessary carry firearms in the uk and abroad. He wasn’t going out to rob a bank or kill a rival gang member, which is the intention of most criminals possessing firearms. Yes, he was wrong. Yes he should be punished but imprisonment will serve no purpose as he had no criminal intent (as the police stated).
I once new a chap who found a cart of PE4 in his jacket after a day on the dems range. He threw it in a skip!

Tell me again, wasn’t there a squaddy who murdered his missus with an AK not long ago. As other squaddies have pointed out, soldiers are no less likely to go on a killing spree just because they’re in the SAS.

He wasn’t going out to rob a bank or kill a rival gang member, which is the intention of most criminals possessing firearms.

How’d you know he’s not going to brass someone up for money French Alps style? What other reason is for their to be having .338 lying round without permission other than to blow someone’s guts out at range who’s wearing body armour. Pretty **** overkill for deer shooting if you ask me.

I’m sure many other squaddies would like a Glock to plink with in their back garden without intending to **** up the day of some inner city crip with it. I wonder how they’d fare in court if they weren’t SAS. I bet the nutters at RM Poole are laughing their balls off at what they probably see as the ‘unprofessional SAS’ being allowed to take so many explody thing’s back home, then getting in trouble for it and exposing the regiment to further mass media coverage and derision.

I got pulled up a little while ago for using the word “coloured” as it’s apparently racist. Made me vexed because I used it specifically to try and avoid using any potentially derogatory language.

Then I got to thinking, you know, whilst I don’t agree that country contractions are inherently racist (compare ****, Brit, Scot, Pole, Iti, etc), I’m happy to avoid using them as I understand that some people find them offensive (rightly or not). However, when we’re getting into the realms of “black / brown / white / coloured” now being offensive, I really don’t think the the problem here lies with the speaker. What next, differently pigmented? We’re running out of words.

Fundamentally, we’re heading towards a situation where words are becoming viewed as ‘racist’ purely because they’re used to describe a demographic and racists speak the same language we do. So we start saying (for example) “coloured” to attempt to safely refer to someone non-caucasian, then the racists start using the same word, hey presto it’s suddenly a ‘racist’ term and we’ve to find something else. It’s a race condition we can’t win unless we force racists to start speaking Esperanto or something.

    Lunacy.

If you want to be as inoffensive possible just use African, Caribbean etc. Simples. At any place I’ve worked at we’ve never used the term “the black lad over there” in any conversation to describe someone we work with…..we’d use “the African lad over there” or the Caribbean lad over there”. All you have to do is make an effort to find out where they are from.

You can actually cure HIV, the problem though is that the treatment involved has a far higher chance of killing you dead and therefore reducing your life expectancy  than HIV does.

DD, that’s your interpretation! Given that I have to work in different countries, I would prefer to call it placing sensitivities of local contexts, cultures, norms etc above personal ones. Same as wearing appropriate clothing, not drinking etc.

That’s why I wouldn’t want to work in the middle east or Japan. I’m intolerant of their intolerance – those societies are utterly opposed to my own ideals. I can’t stand egotistical arrogant cultures, I’m glad Britain and Germany started to an extent losing our national arrogance after the second world war ended.

Interesting point Bwaarp. Racism, imperialism, nationalism…are they the same, intertwined, different….? Is Japan much different to others?

I do believe there can be difference, the Philippines for example is a hell of a lot more laid back when it comes to ethnicity than Japan.

    bwaarp

I have worked in Japan where the difference in my skin colour and race was a topic of daily comment. Ditto, I was openly referred to with an adjective that bore this out and was discriminated against on this basis. Was it offensive? Personally no I don’t think so. I chose to live there, I was different (odd to many outside the main urban centres), it was my responsibility to fit in not vice versa. But I accept that is not an opinion shared by all.*

Japan’s profound racism is an issue for the rest of the world considering what it has led to in the past.

It makes me think your mates a bit of a donut for messing with people.*

Onza, Why are you changing the V2’s?

because he’s a brake whore, V2 evo’s are great brakes. I run them, you’re never going to get brake fade or boiling fluid with those little beasties.

If you’re riding downhill and you break a lever, prepare to have to buy a whole new master cylinder and lever if you go with Shimano. I prefer Hopes because of the ease of bleeding, parts availability and support from Hope.

Unless you’re running the Icetech rotors and the expensive finned pads you are possibly going to getter better heat resistance with the M4’s. Hope’s also modulate better.

Try to have a go with both brake sets, you may prefer the feel of the shimano’s, who knows.

As the proud owner of a Chinese wife I can categorically deny that Chinese people refer to themselves as chinks, if you know of any that do I would suggest that they’re in the minority.

If someone called my wife a chink I suspect I’d have to restrain her to stop her punching them.

My girlfriends Filipino, she finds it offensive.

When we’d been dating for a few months in my third year of uni I didn’t restrain myself at a drum n base night, said wannabe skinhead got sparked out (in self defence of course) and then the rest of his mates got sparked out by my brother when they tried to intervene.

    Good times.

Biomass for energy often mean plant base material although can equally apply to both animal and vegetable draw from material. Biomass is actually a biological material derive form living or recently living organisms. Biomass chemical composition is carbon based and is composed of a mixture of organic molecules containing hydrogen, usually including atoms of oxygen, often nitrogen and also small quantities of other atoms, including alkali, alkaline earth and heavy metals, metals are often found in functional molecules such as the porphyrins which include chlorophyll which contains magnesium.

Can we use you as Biomass?

This isn’t an online version of the Oxford Union or a forum version of Nature.

Or should we all start Harvard referencing and spoil basically what is a bit of banter.

I wouldn’t mind it if someone posted some good articles that back up Monbiot but I have a feeling that instead of totally abolishing farming subsidies perhaps they just need some reform.

Have you some data or are we just going on your hunches?

At least you have the option of decent public transport in London. It’s not as if anyone else has bothered to post any data yet to defend Monbiots claims 😛
