Don’t forget about HDCP, which is present on a lot of HDMI sources like a sky box. I very much doubt that cheap ebay converter will strip the HDCP off, your get nothing out of it.

Reverbs break just as much as Levs, there isnt a post out there that doesnt break.

    Ive had:

    A Joplin 3 x2
    A Joplin 4
    Original Reverb x2
    2013 Reverb
    KS Lev
and i now have a KS Lev Integra

All have broken apart from my new Lev but that is early days. I would never touch a reverb again, the lev cable and actuation is so much nicer.

To the OP, what frame is it on? I have issues with my integra where the cable outer goes through the grommet in my bronson frame. The outer sticks to the grommet, this stops actuation system returning correctly as the spring isnt strong enough.

    “smug superiority”

You clearly are not reading my posts right, we all share the road with other users, there are bad drivers and bad cyclists. Shouting at people, confronting fueled with rage is not the way to do this. That sort of superiority will get you in trouble some day.

It’s quite simple dez, over defensive riding, it can and does cause drivers to make stupid overtakes. Yes the drivers shouldn’t do it but if your clever and don’t put them into the position to do it in the first place then your not going looking for it.

I commute 140miles a week on busy roads between South London to healthrow, so I see plenty of it. I’ve had plenty of close calls, Smart riding, don’t be in a rush and don’t shout at every car that comes within 6ft of you and your enjoy the ride a lot more.

I’m a regular commuter on the outskirts of Central London. I used to think helmet cams were a good idea until I saw more and more of them on cyclists looking for trouble or throwing the toys out of the pram for nothing.

Recently this was backed up by riding behind a cyclists when a bus overtook us, the bus gave us in my opinion plenty of room but clearly not in theirs. Shortly after we caught up with the bus, the cyclist went mental at the driver, I then noticed the camera on the helmet.

This is pretty much what happens in 90% of that video. I can see the cameras good use, but I think they cause more problems than solve them,

I had it when I was 27, im now 31.

I was off work for a month, couldnt sleep, couldnt risk getting out of breath so biking was off the cards for ages as was pretty much everything.

I think i was ill for about 2 months and had on going breathing problems for about a year after that, im sure it scared my lungs or something.

Not something i wish to ever experience again, i feel for you.

Definitely consider a rack and panniers, I commute 22miles each way 3 times a week and getting the weight of my back made a massive difference. Sitting down and relaxing is much nicer without a back pack on.

Get the right gear, do not think this is going to save you money, I spend a lot on food and clothing.

At 28miles a day I think your have to build up to that, 5 days a week will leave you feeling weak on Friday and your struggle to get out on the mtb, I try not to ride Friday so that I’m fresh for the weekend.

Oh and join the winter commuter challenge:

Are your rides set to “Cycling Transport”? As only those will be logged in the challenge.

I hide all my work outs except to friends, it doesnt have the private zone like strava has.

I guess we are hoping people dont take the piss and add a 100mile loop onto their commute. A commute should be a point to point journey, i dont mind if extra miles are added on here and there or you feel like going the long way home etc etc but if your little extra sections actually exceed your total commute journey then its more of a training ride than a commute.

Can’t believe I missed the win on the summer commute by 2 miles, I appreciate will stopped adding rides a fair while ago but I don’t do any extra “loops” on my commute, it’s to fricking far already!!

Happy with the win for September commute.

Maximus is on here somewhere, I know him from another Mtb forum also.

You would think so, my internal string snapped, easy i thought. However the lower actuator was seized on, meaning that i couldn’t remove the shaft to replace the string.

Whole thing had to be sent back, I eventually got a refund.

Not doing to well in the August commuter, been on holiday.

3rd in the stw summer, now if those above me would stop adding extra miles into their commute I could move up a bit :)

Only log my commute rides to save me from boredom.

Got a LEV sat on the work bench in pieces, internal cable snapped. Unable to change the cable due to the lower actuator being seized on, trying to sort out what to do with it.

We have 2 Burmese cats, a lot less wild than bengals and more suited to indoor life style. We let ours out during the day time but most breeders will not let you buy from them if you plan on letting them out. They are clever things, will fetch etc and run to the door when they hear the mrs car pull up, you sit down and there be on your lap instantly.

Big difference between returning items and customer support.

It took them 6 weeks to replace my broken xtr trail pedal. A friends xtr trail pedal also broke around the same time and only took 3 days from a uk shop to Madison and back with a new one. I won’t buy anything from the Germans that has a risk of going wrong now.

Seems others have had the same sort of experience.

This was going to be my next bike after seeing the stolen bikes pics, I own a covert at the moment.

But I can definitely see welds in that rear triangle, I’m not going to buy one only for them to release a full carbon one a year later.

Its a shame it wasnt a touch on the FOD one but as mbnut says it never was going to be.

I was dissapointed with the 3 DH sections, personally thought they failed to test the endurance of a rider, they were far to short and physically undemanding which is what a gravity enduro should be. For example some of the transition stages could have been used in the race. Stage 3 could have continued up past the skill climb stage up onto that wonderful little section down the open hill, that would have been a longer more demanding stage. If we had been able to pre walk the DH runs then we would have been able to push that bit harder on them making it more physical, riding them blind you just couldnt do this with the doubles and drops on them which also made the flow dissapear and enjoyment with it.

Saying that it was a good fun with some fantastic people and i definately would do it again. Looking forward to the next one.

Yes you will be able to aslong as you only have 2 devices registered.

Your get the F1 channel if you subscribe to the sports package or HD, you do not have to have HD.

BBC News isnt HD, nor do they have the infrastructure to do HD, the BBC are so cheap they only use 2mhz of bandwidth for each news live tx which is why it looks so crap, sky use 10mhz and in HD.

BBC HD looks fine to me though im sure alot of the stuff on BBC one HD is just upconverted to HD.

    Had a Joplin 3 – Broke 4 times in a year.

Joplin 3 was Replaced with a Joplin 4, worked faultlessly for 8months then broke.

Thought sod the Joplin im buying a Reverb.

    Reverb broke in 3 weeks………

Currently being fixed at Fisher, something came loose inside which meant it couldnt hold the 250psi inside which it requires for it to come back up. I tried pumping it back up but could just hear air leaking and my guage dropping from 200psi to 50psi, i couldnt even reach 250psi.

    edit.
Worth mentioning I now have my Joplin 4 back on and i actually prefer how much quicker it comes up and goes down to the reverb. Ill put the reverb back on once its back fro repair.

2pure have been nothing but excellent to me up until now. I had a Joplin 3 which failed about 3 times, each time i got an immediate email response and the post was fixed and back to me within a week. They eventually replaced the joplin 3 with a joplin 4 free of charge, i then changed my frame and they sent me a 30.9mm joplin outer sleeve also free of charge! However the Joplin 4 recently broke, I sent them an email about a week ago and have still not had a reply, something must be up with 2pure as im really surprised.

Petra Cycles are very good and freindly, they dont hold much highend stuff in stock but if you look on there website they can get anything in, they are my LBS and have always treated me well. Worth giving them a ring before you travel just to check they can fit him in. Wildside used to be my LBS and i avoided them like the plaque, always had awful service with prices that you have to bend over for.
