I have the phone and highly recommend it, can’t see why people spend double on the alternatives.

Haven’t used the dual sim option.

I got my boy a Puky Lino for his first birthday, he didn’t really get the knack of it till he was about 18months. I do believe that this is what gave him the skill of steering and using his feet to gain momentum, it also taught him to coast.

I then got him a Frog Tadpole at 18months but he was to small for it till about 22months. Hes now just turned 2 and he’s really good at it, to the point he scares me, especially as he doesn’t understand “go left” or “slow down”. He’s had a good few tank slappers now which normally ends up with him lying on top of it.

Get a Puky Lino, my son still flys round on his round the house. We have wooden floor downstairs, the speed he navigates round furniture is impressive to watch imo, his mother doesn’t think the same.

The morvelo long sleeve jerseys are pretty good and worth a look. Combined with a base layer they are toasty warm but not a sweat fest, i add a gilet for the sub zero days.

Would love to know, they say they have greater disc clearance, fed up with my 785s rubbing.

Had similar once, this was definitely de-resticted the way it was accelerating over 20mph.

I do like my Voyager hypers, i just dont have much confidence with them in the wet after having them slide on me a few times. Thats comparing them to Gp4 seasons and Pro4 endurance in 28mm.

If you could let me know how well they go up tubeless, id have a go at doing it on mine.

@snowrock, what are the differences between the randonneur and the hyper? Is the randonneur a bit more grippy?

Yeah know what your saying but that’s not the way I approached buying it.

My son just turned 2, I spent ages looking at which balance bike to get him. I went for the frog tadpole in the end, but to be honest any of the of the good ones will do just fine. As soon as he was zipping along the whole decision process I went through seems a bit pointless.

I was going to go for the Isla but the price put me off, at no point do I now wish I got it, I don’t think spending that extra £50 would have put a bigger smile on his face.

Vittoria Voyager Hyper in 32mm, fast, light, with good puncture protection. Only downside is they are not brilliant in the wet.

I don’t quite get the point of them on the majority of cars i see them on. So your protecting your paint by putting some horrific looking black thing on the front of your car. Its like your trying to keep you car in pristine condition so the next owner can enjoy it looking good.

The police did a changing places event at my work, they had with them a large Tipper truck which we could sit in.

I am amazed that they are allowed on the road, the design is so dated with such poor visibility in just about every direction. It worked as i stay well away from them now, however it angers me more when one comes flying past with a close pass knowing that they probably would see if they did run me down.

    Im all for it.

Falperon couldnt disagree more, phones in someways are far more advance than a basic satnav.

My phone does live traffic updates, gives me re route options incase of traffic, has offline maps and im never in the situation that the maps are out of date.

22 miles each way, 4 times a week.

Depth of winter usually drops down to 3 times a week, sometimes in summer if i have no weekend riding plans i do all 5 days but it gets me really tired.

You shouldnt be put off buying one, speaking with Freeborn they have sold hundreds and congratulated me on the first cracked tripster they have had.

I searched the internet and could not find anyone else with a cracked one, guess i was unlucky.

    Its an amazing bike.

After 2 years of ownership and 14,000 miles my Tripster died.

Freeborn were excellent with replacement, luckily they had a 54 in stock and the frame was swapped out in under a week. Freeborn said this is the first one they have had back.

    @brassneck, speak to Upgrade.

Probably not what you want if you want posh/light but you can get Hope Pro 2 Evos with an 11 speed road cassette, not the lightest but plenty bomb proof.

Its what I have on my commuter, 32h laced to a 35mm Light bicycle U rim, not the lightest but ive done 5000 miles on them now without an issue.

Wow amazed this thread is still going, bit of an update on my Tripster. Owned it for coming up to two years now and covered about 12,000 miles, absolutely love riding it still.

I dont really use it for what is was originally designed for but i find it just about perfect for my 44 mile round trip commute on roads, tracks and bumpy cycle paths.

Its set up for a road. but i find it handles just fine on the rougher stuff still.

-17 Stem and 5mm top cap, tried to get it lower.
35mm Light bicycle rims on Hope hubs, 32/28. 28mm Michelin Pro4 endurance
    Tubus airy Ti rack.
105 ll speed but with ultegra shifters.
    P35 guards.
TRP spyres but want to change to 685s soon.

I had problems with my De Rosa Idol disc with the front pads rubbing when out of the saddle going up hill, i swapped the standard shimano qr with a DT RWS and its been fine ever since.

I had the same problem with my Tripster ATR, it had cheap qr, i swapped to a hope skewer and its been fine for over a year now.

The quality of the qr skewer does make a difference.

So I made the switch from 28mm GP4 Seasons to 28mm PRO4 endurance and I am really disappointed.

I’ve had more punctures than I normally would have had and they give a noticeable harsher ride. I’ve had 2 punctures on the front which was unheard of on the GP4 seasons.

Still in search of the perfect tyre.

I got overtaken on my commute a week ago while riding up a small hill, i was doing 20mph. An oldish lady came flying past me with a massive grin on her face, she was still grinning as i overtook her going back down.

Her bike was clearly de-resticted, it didnt bother me as it made me smile seeing her enjoying herself.

I’ve got mixed emotions about them, they are getting more popular on my commute and there are a few that perhaps dont really need them and only have them to get to their destination quicker.

Commuted just over 6000 miles in the last year, been through 3 GP 4 seasons on the rear, all suffered fatal deep cuts (tube sticking through). About to change them and moving onto something else.

The gp4 are fairly light, give reasonable feedback, have pretty good grip and are ok puncture resistance. There an all rounder, i just wish they would wear a bit better, it seems once they wear past a certain point they give up.

The problem is theres not many all rounders like them, I might try the Pro4 endurance.

Remember Hi-Viz Fluro clothing only works during the daytime/dusk as its reacts with the UV, it does squat all during the night.

Lights and reflectives are what you need.

My son is now 7 months, dont worry things will get better once you get established and set the routines.

I am still riding, just no where near as much.

I adopted the attitude that the bike will always be there, missing the changes of my son growing will not and they do change fast at this age.

Enjoy your time as you see him develop, bikes and trails are not going anywhere.
