Haven’t got a picture of the bodged bearing, I do have a receipt from a shop that managed to fix the hacked job for me – and ordered me some cable guides, which turned up next day.

    Top job from them.

In rely to Luke – Pinkbike lets you know when a mail you have sent to someone has been read, so I refuse to believe you haven’t read my mails – as I watched when they were read.

And I’m confused that an iPhone wont let you respond to a website written in HTML4. Just to confirm I’ll ask a mate with an iPhone – or if someone on STW would like to check?

Just to add a bit of info…. paid April 26th, Frame arrived May 16th. By STW standards that’s pretty damn slow.

Result = unhappy + £75 out of pocket, and a frame that *could* be worthless.

No idea if it is, just know his username. He was warned on several occasions to comply, with what I think are the two valid and fair options – a refund or a repair.

No reply from him, so I have to make people aware so they dont go through the same as me.

I rememeber selling a pair of Revs here a while ago, and oil had leaked in transit – the chap I sold them to wasn’t happy – so I just said to send them back and I’d give him a full refund (including postage). Turns out they had just leaked a bit from being upside down, they’re now over a year on, and being used on my missus’ hardtail and feel very good indeed 🙂

    Kaesae, YGM.

You’re a star dude 🙂 Been meaning to buy a couple of kits off you recently.

Right then, following on from the saga – the chap is dodging my two options for him, so I’ve given him an ultimatum:

Well, the frame is at my local Scott dealer – I have no other option, other than to use a Scott dealer as the missing parts are Scott specific.

    Again, I’ll re-iterate:

    1. Return the frame for full refund.
    2. You pay for a shop to sort out the bodged job.

You have tried to scam me, and it really isn’t going to work. You can’t sell something that you have got halfway through servicing/repairing and decide to pass it off to someone else to fix, at their cost.

If you look a bit further up our emails I asked the question: ‘are all other bolts are included’… you confirmed that they were – as in fact, brakes and gear cables can’t be run.

I’m losing patience, so you can have another chance then I will name and shame on STW, PinkBike, Bikeradar, and any other bike forum.

That sound fair? He works in a bike shop as a mechanic, so wouldn’t be great if people knew he was a complete t0ss3r.

I did get lots of photos, just happened to be before the ass-hat had attempted a bearing change. Apparently he works in a garage or a bike shop too… so i feel sorry for whoever he does work for professionally!

What annoys me more is that the chap obviously thought I either wouldn’t notice, or wouldn’t care.

The cost for fitting a full bearing kit on the frame is circa £100 + £90 for the kit. Great that he’s included a kit, but I’m still left £100 out of pocket – IF – all the parts are there – which dealer I’ve visited has suggested aren’t.

Giving me a £90 bearing kit doesnt equal a working frame if that involves a good 5 hours time fitting it.

Well, he has ridden it down the canal like that. So must be fine.

I love that he values his 2008 Totems at £800. A new set you could grab or £400.

Ardent front…. how do you find the grip? in the mud? in the dry?

Hmm… I’m torn, I’d like to try Schwalbe, but they appear to have real lifetime problems, i.e. wear fast and are susceptible to sidewall tearing.

Conti would be another choice, a Speedking rear and a X-King front… but these have issues being setup tubeless as the walls are so porous.

    Specialized i haven’t look at tbh….

    Any other suggestions?

These will be for training, and for 24 hour endurance events.

Contacted the council and they will call me back tomorrow, hopefully.

Given the guy’s reaction when we spoke to him I doubt he’ll give two sh1ts about a letter.

Seriously, why do you need to have a beeping alarm to alert people that you have an alarm?!

They were there first, but it’s been over a year now…. and the alarm noise is 24/7, every 12 seconds, and the car alarm on and off at times – depends where he parks the van.

The chap didnt seem to care at all when we spoke to him.

Hmmm… just seen the Merida Ninety-Six Carbon, it looks amazing. Very much like an Anthem, but cheaper (for the carbon version) by £1k….
