Yep – I’m with nationwide and was going to remortgage back in Sept when I came off my fixed rate – glad I didn’t.

The news Ive heard is that rates are expected to go down to about .5% or 0% by the summer – hover there for some time and then start to go up in about 18months from now.

Advice I’ve been given which seems to make sense is to wait for 5-10yr fixed rates to go down to 3 or 4% and fix. If you enter into a 2yr fix now it will run out just as interest rates have started to go up and you’ll not get a good rate.

All this is speculation though and its quite a gamble really.

Most of what you described cannot be made

Soma-rich – I’m talking in an ideal world, not actually about building something. Although I’ve ridden purpose built trails with the aspects I’ve mentioned – well all except for the last one as the trails I’m thinking of were in NZ.

I am just curious to understand what people would want from a purpose built trail as I don’t understand why there is general dislike for them. I’ve ridden some trail centres which are loads better than my local trails and vice versa.

Another site I post on only lets you buy and sell stuff if you have paid a tenner to become a “sitesupporter” for a year. You can still browse the classifieds but you just can’t post anything.

It is done to show that the seller isn’t buggering around and that the buyer is more than likely genuine. Reduces the number of people just jumping on the site to sell or buy stuff to make a profit and keeps the second hand trade more between the biking community.

Most people pay their money not only to buy and sell but also to support the site and help with its up keep and you get a shiney “SiteSupporter” badge on your profile to show you’re a paid up supporter of the forum (but to post on the general forum you don’t have to pay).

Suppose it depends if we are talking purely just on riding or other aspects as well such as facilities, accessiblity, fun for all and scenery?

Better than no riding at all.

I went back and tried and it came off easily.

The bearing shown in the photo is seized – can’t get it to move at all. The bearing at the other end of the freehub is moving fine.

Can you get upgraded bearings for Pro2’s?

The freehub is really difficult to get off. Tried but it won’t budge.

Pete – Many thanks – not quite sure what is going on so the once over might reveal something.

Away on tuesday so I’ll drop it in on Wednesday if that’s OK.

    Cheers.

Postman didn’t even make it yesterday because of the weather.

Defo welded – its on a pair of bog standard BMX forks and not sure what brand the headset is.

If I do get a “generic” crown race – will I damage the headtube or forks? Don;t mind if the headset gets knackered as I can replace that over time.

You considered that some people actually know these people in the real world rather than just the virtual world and are being polite.

They might also be posting up to signal they have heard about it and would normally consider it but can’t attend on that occassion.

I don’t see what the problem is.

I have more an issue with people saying “Why are people different to me – I can’t understand it??? They should all be acting how I act!!!”

    Everything in moderation lads…

All the problems I’ve seen have been by people taking too much and / or too often.

For me taking drugs was an experience – like travelling, some drugs were like going to the most beautiful place ever and some, like speed, were like going to some far off country that I now have no inclination to visit a second time – On the whole drugs were something that taught me a lot about myself and opened my eyes to the world around me.

I am the person I am today from my experiences and have no regrets at all in that respect as I am happy with who I am. However I am obviously sad that a number of my friends have died through taking drugs but like I said above the problem is normally through misuse.

I’m always surprised by peoples attitudes to drugs if they have never tried them – they stand out a mile off. It’s really refreshing to see this thread on the whole has some accurate and genuine first hand advice / comments on the subject.

As mr Mackey would say “Drugs are Bad M’kay!”

No where – family weekend unfortunately – but I have the afternoon off and will be having a long ride (6hrs or so) on Tuesday!!! Can’t wait!! 8)

Sheldon – you wanted to know the next time I was going up to Corby so you could take some pictures – well I’m off on Tuesday afternoon to meet Jedi (3rd Feb) if you want to come up.

Hopefully there will be a few right good riders down there to keep your camera occupied including an old school BMX legend you just loves playing on the vert!

Check him out on this one!!!

The bowl is proper deep! right scary dropping into it. Getting out of it is like riding up the side of a house and in through the bedroom window!!

Don’t do it – I don;t understand people with running machines in the house – run outside!!!! There really is no excuse!

If you want to exercise indoors join a gym and see how you get on.

I love my bikes – very happy with them and only change stuff when it breaks.

Having said that I am changing some parts on my BMX but that is to reward myself for progressing – something I always said I would do.

Not addicted to buying stuff but I am addicted to riding!!!

From riding with him I wouldn’t have guessed.

What happened? did hHe hit a car while on his bike or was in a car?

How long before he was back on the bike?

Most used bikes stay inside – cheaper / less used bikes in the shed.

I had two and been one of two and it worked really well especially on the stag do as they / us shared the pressure.

    In terms of speeches.

On mine – one mate did a speech about how great I am (well that is what I was expecting and hoping for) the other did a multiple choice quiz – where the audience had to shout out the answer – went down really well.

When I was best man we did the whole up to a certain point then the other takes over.

True – I’ve broken my Arm, Knackered my shoulder twice, twisted my ankle and had numerous more close calls on MTBs compared to BMX.

But I’m sure people on here can count many more injuries than that!!!

Thinking about it in 9months riding with Jedi I’ve knackered both ankles and broken a rib – it could have been so much worse..!!

One thing I’ve learnt from riding a BMX is that I no longer care what people think.

Its their problem not mine if they’ve got an issue with it!

It’s become one of my favorite parts of my riding and don’t get me wrong I still love a 6 hour day out in the Peaks as well. But it is purely just messing around on a bike which makes you feel really good.

Those of you who are keen to try it or have bought a bike and want to try it out – there is an underground of non-teenagers riding round the country who would more than likely be happy to hook up and ride / show you the basics.

Is this more from the fear of injury though?

Yep – totally second the fact that it is really hard to do and takes loads of guts – I dropped in on an 8ft quarter for the first time last Sunday and rolling up to the edge and seeing about 2 foot of vertical drop before the transistion takes hold puts a big mental block on you.

I’ve found that Park riding is more strenous than my MTB riding and regularly gets my HR up to my Max which is something MTB doesn’t do as often.

Pulling tricks you have been practicing for a while give you the best feeling ever…

    Nice one Rob.

Techsmechs – FACT! I’ve started carving up banks and pumping the trails no end since starting riding BMX – its brought my riding on leaps and bounds – much more than anything else I’ve done.

This is the reason for posting really – there is so much we as MTBers can gain but people have a serious reluctance doing it and if anything BMX is no more risky than “All mountain” (to coin a phrase) MTBing.

I can never understand this so I have to ask: why is it just for kids?

Surely its riding bikes in a similar way as riding technical or downhill tracks – Loads of fun and excitment!

The damage done via the impact is cumulative during a run – so be careful when you are going from mainly cycling to running lots – like me you may end up with leg problems due to tendons not being prepared for 30minute epic runs!!

I tried to do too much too soon and increase length of runs too quickly which has led to numerous problems. I wish someone had told me earlier.
