Is it me or do the posts from SFB seem like they are touching the envelope of truth just to get a reaction from people.

By the way, I’m not looking to eat a ridiculous amount of protein for the rest of my life, just increase the amount of protein and any other building materials available until I am back to normal.

I can’t wait to get back on that hip!!! Freak accidents involving 10p coins suck!!!

I am resting but going do everything I can to heal it up as I want to get back on my bike. I’m looking for positive advice here, it may not work, but any suggestions on what may help are useful, someone saying its bollocks isn’t constructive (may be true, may not)

I think you will find there is more evidence it works than it doesn’t…

What you are saying is along the lines of Iron is a great metal, no need to add anything to it to improve its properties or make it more useful depending on how you want to use it!!!

    Perfect day…

Spent it accompanying Mrs B on her first HONC doing the 50km. I’m very proud of her as she did it without stopping except for tea and cakes and she really enjoyed herself. Came in almost dead on 4hrs which for her is really good.

    Bring on next years!

At least it looks like it isn’t going to rain – looked at the weather yesterday and it was dry all week except for just Sunday morning when it was going to tip it down!!! All changed today!

Rustytrowel – you spent £800 on a BMX – How?

    Bushwacked

Probably £2k on a CD player and mixer when I was mixing or £1500 on a picture of my daughter for the living room.

Sold the DJ kit about 3 years later for the same price I bought it for and I love the picture. No regrets all in all.

I did fund my wifes business which has / will have cost me about £40k by the time we have paid the debts off but she learnt a lot and so have I. so only minor regrets there.

Take the turn to Birdlip off the A417 and then take the first right which leads to the viewpoint.

could be, but the 100 mile rides felt fine (i could have done them back to back given enough flapjack!) I want exactly pushing it, 14.5mph on a road bike is a pretty slow pace.

Don’t think speed is the issue – but 100miles of constantly turning the pedal might have an impact (I’m no expert mind you) – if there is even a micro tear or other problem, then 6 hours of even gentle riding is going to affect it. Bit like tapping the back of your hand with your finger – a few times softly won’t hurt or leave a mark – but doing for a longer period even gently and it will start to hurt / bruise as the cells break down.

As I said I’m no expert but 100miles with a dicky knee 2 months after seems like you might be over doing it (unless I’ve misread the above).

If its any concelation – my physio is always telling me off for doing more than I should far too soon after an injury – but it keeps her in business.

Sorry to hear this especially as you are only 22.

I was chatting to my physio recently to find out how long it will take for an ankle injury to heal fully – she said that some injuries especially those involving tendons and ligaments can take up to a year to heal.

I’m wondering if this plus how much you have been doing …

I was riding 100+mile road rides, big all day MTB rides, spinning classes, commuting to work, skateparks on the BMX.

has caused a relapse – perhaps have your position on the bike checked out, along with your physical alignment (I found problems I had with my left knee were due to a problem with my hip and now its sorted I have no more knee problems). Take it easy and slowly build up to doing the above – you’re knee might just be like “PLease no more!!!”

She could do with some skills coaching, but from riding the bike myself it doesn’t feel right but I’ve always put it down to me being used to my bike.

    Cheers everyone…

We had a long discussion on the way back and she was saying she doesn’t like technical riding – prefers the endurance side of riding and as a result prefers riding on the road – but I think (and maybe I do because I’m slightly biased) that she is thinking this as the bike doesn’t control well when having to negotiate switchbacks, corners or twisty tech bits with roots and rocks. On the road there isn’t as much need to quick changes of direction etc so maybe this is why she prefers riding on the road.

Si – Will take you up on that 80mm to see how it handles.

Mboy – Keen to see the lights although nights getting longer now so not sure how much use they’d be. Might also borrow your 75mm stem too.

60mm – swapped it from a 80 or 90mm sometime ago when she started using it thinking a shorter one would be better as bike is just that tiny bit on the big side for her.

GF – Thinking that longer stem and narrower bars may help – as you say its “worthy a try” ;)

I’m wondering if a longer stem will sort out the twitchyness in the interim but some good recommendations so far.

Gonna be 100-130mm Air Revs going on it (if it happens)
