I'd just like to add, they are not offering me this job.

I have to apply and go through an interview etc.

I understand from speaking to ACAS previously that this is different to saying "here's this role" and even my HR have said I still get the money even if I get offered if and don't accept it.

but they way they are rushing it through I get the impression that I am going to be offered it. They know my skills and abilities, the director recruiting for it has said he is shocked that the business is getting rid of me and can't understand the logic behind it and the fact the HR director has contacted me saying this is being rushed through makes it all look very suspicious.

My wife is telling me just to walk away from them and take the money.

GJP – The role isn't suitable and its not being offered. Its not about having my cake and eating it – its about fair play and them ruining my Xmas and faith in being loyal to a company.

Jedi – I'm thinking the same.

Fuzzy – I think they know they've **** up big time and are trying to avoid any nastyness.

Joolsburger – Things are looking very positive – had some good meetings and discussions so I'm tempted to use the interview as practice and walk away. We'll have to see what happens.

I remember having to go into have my arm x-rayed when I broke it, the radiologist asked if I had any piercing and I said no. Making small talk I asked why she asked the question as I couldn't imagine the odd earring being that much of a problem.

Then she told me she asks everytime now after a bloke came in and had a piercing in his sac for every year he'd been alive – he was 82!!!

Apparently that did cause a problem!

My aim is to provide the kind of support which would be independant of supplier but help to provide the level of support they would only get from a supplier. Help to get some key projects moving which have stalled due to lack of knowledge in the subject matter.

Just spoken to one of my senior directors who originally employed me (mainly to ask him to recommend me on Linkedin – which he jumped at doing) and he said he doesn't understand why I am going and that the whole thing has been handled badly.

Explaining the redundancy is one I've been struggling with but like what you say above

Raised it with my boss – he checked with the HR muppet and he's been told that once I am released I can go whereever I want.

Issue I've got now is a job has come up at my present employers that I am tempted to apply for – anyone know how this affects my pay out? I've been told that if I don't get it / apply for it my payment isn't affected but if I do – will I lose it?

What does that mean? I've not been made officially redundant yet so not signed anything

Does it matter if I am being made redundant?

I know a lot of colleagues have gone to work for competitors looking after similar clients etc.

I'm not intending to cause a material loss but I would look to advise them on how to get the best for their business. A few of these items may put my STBEE out of pocket as there are process improvements which would change certain revenue streams.

I watched it the other night when it was on TV and got it more than I ever have – I don't know if it is being older or having kids but it really struck a chord with me and I found myself getting quite emotional towards the end.

The whole bit about memories defining you and making you human really stirred me up. The memories I have really will be gone once I am!

This is going to be a leisurely ride isn't it… not only am I really not fit at the moment, I'm recovering from a chest cold and will more than likely be hungover :)

PEmbo – I didn't respond as I took it on board and is fairly straightforward approach – negotiating is a piece of piss, although like my wife said it seems a bit like blackmail. Problem I've got is that they are a massive US company looking to pay out the minimum to everyone.

BC – Treksters point was noted about proving the bosses right – however my idea of the "minimum" isn't sitting round on my ass but actually doing enough to make sure its handed over correctly. This is the dilema – do I do this, more or less. As its only three weeks I think do enough so my colleagues don't get landed in the shit and so I show my company just what level of asset they have lost. Certain things I would have done I'm not going to do though.

Pembo – customer won't leave as they are technically tied into our company. But I know what they have planned and the customer ain't gonna like it.

Spongebob – Cheers – hoping to be back in work soon – in the meantime I've got to come up with a good story around why they are getting rid of one of the good ones without it sounding like a load of waffle!!

Tootall – I won't burn bridges as I take great pride in what I do but the dilema is how do I switch my focus from doing my job and not leaving my colleagues ( who I count as friends) in the lurch and starting to look for jobs – do I work my ass of handing everything over only for someone else to take the credit or in the time I've got left (3 weeks) do I do the minimum so I can take time to get a new job.
