Weight loss isn’t my main objective

So out today, nothing but a coffee. Hit the trails at 8.30 and back to the van for 11am. Interesting experience riding with an empty stomach, felt somehow more sprightly on the bike initially, but after about 45 mins I started feeling hungry for my usual hourly snack, but ignored it (although couldn’t stop thinking about food but made myself think of the recovery shake in the van). In the first hour it did feel a little harder than usual to really push had and looking at my HRM I barely went above 90% of Max HR which is unusual for me. Found in the second hour my legs were burning more on runs which I’m normally happy to push hard on. Then in the last 30mins I was tired and need to rest – a few near misses and lack of control (more than usual).

Overall did 2.5hours and covered 14.5km wiht 660m climbing. Spent 40% of my time in 80-90% MaxHR and apparently according to Polar burnt 1991cals of which 16% were fat burning.

Looking back, surprised at how well I did just on a coffee but OMG did that shake taste good when I got back to the car

Booked Flights to Nice – Half term week was a nightmare on cost so going to take the kids out of school for a day and save around £800!!!

Whats the best way to transfer from Nice to Finale? I’m thinking of hiring a car but at the sametime it may be easier to taxi/train/bus it.

Some good times on those flights early departure and late return :)

Depends what objectives you have, if purely weight loss then you eat less calories – although the idea as I understand it is after a period of not eating (the last 4 hours of the 16 hour fast) your body starts to run off fat so you drawn down on your fat stores.

I’m intrigued but the other aspects too. I do feel somewhat better than I expected on it.

So far it’s mainly been dropping breakfast and late night cheese. So it does make it easy.

    To follow on from trickydisco

I also understand it is said to increase HGH and repair of damaged cells.

I do feel better for it so far

Fair bit of info to keep me busy, I’ll report back after my ride on Sunday.

Cheers – I’ve had a “good” look on the internet but most info on fasting and exercise is gym based and muscle building.

I might give it a try to see how I get on without eating beforehand. I’ll take some food just in case. As a one-off, what’s the worst that can happen??

I’m sort of wondering if I can shift my 8 hour period to start in the morning that day, or have a day off from the fasting – or whether the benefits are only appear after consecutive days fasting.

Probably a 2-3 hour dick about in the woods so about 14-20km, 600-1000m climbing and maybe burn about 1800-2400cals (according to Polar who I’m not sure I trust). Lots of chatting rather than continual riding.

That’s what I’m thinking but I got blinded by science after being told the stuff contains micro wotsits which dislodge dirt much more than just water.

(I also use pantene because it has Pro-V and Hydra Intensified Supra-Keratin in.)

Just fitted some metal bushes to two sets and so far (albeit a few rides) they seem to be OK. Not sure how I’d get them out if I wanted to change them though.

I think the key to reducing wear will be regularly removing and replacing the grease / grit

Turns out I actually had them on different ways so he was saying to put them the same way doh!

I’d second the mention of the Expanse, Battlestar Galactica, Event Horizon.

It got bad reports but I quite enjoyed ARQ on netflix just for the concept.

Blackmirror is good too but more of 1 hour long mini films of random Sci Fi stories

Yep, that massively helps. Finale is top of my list TBH but need to convince the rest of the committee

The girls are happy playing in the water – they loved the water park in France this year. Also some good restaurants and shows, plus crap shops to buy tat in, actually just shops.

Interesting Postierich – heard good things about that part of the world but hadn’t even crossed my mind. Where did you base yourself?

Finale is the one I’m leaning too but need to convince the grils there is enough to do.

Will give that a go. Depressed at how few options left other than ordering a new rebound damper at £140 a go!!!

Tried the superglue and no joy. Then tried drilling it out and I think the allen key piece is hardened as the drill is just spinning and having no effect :(

    Gutted.

Good point on both points :)

Ashy – I did think of that but worried about the risk of supergluing the Allen key to the rebound adjuster 8O

Interesting idea, I was thinking if I cn get the adjuster off I can order a new one and still use the fork

Fexofenadine too – awesome – best hayfever tablets I’ve ever had – changed my enjoyment of the outdoors.

Dr tried to take me off them due to cost but I kicked up a stink and they kept me on them.

Also take Rhinocort nasal spray too

I don’t really notice my hayfever now, compared to when I was younger and was hospitalised due to a hayfever triggered asthma attack.

Speed is your friend, as is looking further down the trail.

While you can “learn” from the internet (In the same way as Google can show you how to cure ebola and win the lottery), spending a session with a coach will show you how to improve quickly and safely. +1 for Tony.
