Cheers for the advice – worked through it and was the motor on one of the actuators. £16 from screwdix and back up and running

Also installed a Nest thermostat while I was there.

Jeff – take the head off? This could get interesting… how?

IHN – I’ve only got a few spare bits for the plumber to put back. ;)

what kind of thermostat? Siemens RDJ10RF
    Wired analogue? Wireless
Wireless digital with a relay near the boiler? Yep – although I’ve switched off the thermostat and overriden the control to run the boiler – still nothing
What boiler control panel? Worcester Greenstar 38CDi
Is UFH on same CH circuit with manifold and valve? Yep.

So… interesting… what would you class as resistance training?

I’ve been trying to avoid cakes but resistance is futile!

I like the idea of bouldering and we have one in Gloucester which is quite close.

Yeah, there is a local place that does a 12 week program I’m tempted by for winter.

Evoc with protector – comfy and perhaps larger than I need but don’t notice it tbh.

As others have mentioned, wouldn’t ride with out a protector now after doing some damage on a local trail.

Jeez! put the stem back on! Then push the saddle back as far as it’ll go – the stem will have a massive impact on handling on steeps – I ride a bike (round FoD a lot) which is slightly too short but wouldn’t consider a stem longer than 50mm now. Some of the stuff round FoD is just too steep so I’d never want to push my weight further forward over the axle and into impending doom

I took my 12 year old down there and there were a few bits that caused some concern – the corners are tighter in places. the track is narrower than verderers mostly. There is also one steeper right hand corner towards the last section which caused some concern. We did miss out the top section by walking across the hill from the uplift drop off point to join the trail rather than up the pushup path.

However overall it is very similar to verderers, a load of fun and a great place to get your kids confidence up as it’s basically a flowy trail and good to teach them the looking and speed control skills.

I always ride with body armour but just knees and maybe elbows (plus an EVOC back protector pack since I broke my back)

I echo that skills courses are the best but there is an element of confidence it gives me when doing more technical trails. The elbows come out for steep trails. I’ve also got a TLD vest I use for uplift days too – but I think this will stop sharp rocks and abrasions rather than bone breaking impacts.

Collar bones are a tough one to avoid due to how they usually happen.

charity thing is a 12 hour team event. so each rider takes turns. Aim to do as many miles as possible. worth noting that one of the team is a national level triathlete. :?

IHN – “Gravel it”?? Is this the bike alternative to pebble dashing?

If I’m honest I have no idea where to even start…

Yeah – went for a long ride by my standard Saturday morning and can still feel it Monday. Normal – listen to your body and rest up

I’m lucky as I’ve got some great trails nearby and I hardly get bored of the feeling of riding them at speed. Plus I can go out for an hour door to door and have a good ride or longer.

However I am getting to the point where I can feel it takes longer to recover and I can feel the punishment it gives my body more and more as I get older (44 yrs old)

Still love it though and just had an amazing holiday in Finale which I can’t wait to get out there too again.

TJagain – Sorry to hear that, I used to think that way and it’s a crap place to be. For me sleep was (and to a degree still is in a small way) a problem but it’s now a something I don’t worry about and have ways of coping that don’t really cause any issues (hence my reference to scars previously)
