Flow – I know what you mean about if you’d known that earlier you wouldnt be where you are now. I’m the same, but because the condition isnt readily recognised in the uk you don’t hear much about it until you have to find out.

Don’t dread your bike, look forward to it, the more you worry the more stressful it’ll be. I’d say start off with some gentle rides (hr under 140bpm) when you feel able. I’m just doing short easy rides at the moment and is making me feel better. I Expect to be fully back on the bike in the spring but may have a few cheeky ride between now and then.

One of the locals went up there today to get a feel for what was going on and the affected areas are a lot bigger than initially thought and basically covers nearly the whole of the woods. Natural England is putting signs up saying no MTBing or a £20,000 fine and people walking who spot bikers should report them to the police.

This link shows where – basically anything within a black line

    http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/conservation/designatedareas/nnr/1006044.aspx

The local club is looking to work with the owners etc via an amiable approach to try and show them that we’re actually not that bad. So please if you can try to not to piss them off for the time being.

If it helps I’ve been working with a personal trainer and he’s got me working aerobically (Under 142bpm for me) and I’m finding that I don’t get that tired in the days after as when I was just riding and going anaerobic.

When I ride anaerobically I’m finding I get pay back on the next few days.

It sort of falls in with the Fifth stage here…

Couple of years ago my daughter’s islabike got nicked and we couldnt afford to replace it.

A few weeks after a horrid orange kids bike was in a skip for a few days near my house. Took it home and it was knackered, rusted, tyres were wrecked and it just didn’t work. Took it apart, cleaned each part up, sanded the frame down a d painted it pink. Put it back together and replaced a few parts and my daughter loves it and it looks great.

I just wish I had some before pics.

Really satisfying project and the bonus is seeing my kids loving her bike. She now want to fit some knobblies and come off road with me 🙂

Don’t worry, stay positive Mark. I’m sure its just a dip as you’ve had a lot in your plate recently. Take a bit of time to chill and relax.

    You two, calm down!!!

Cheers for the comments, wife and I keep rolling from one extreme to another.

Could be a really exciting adventure for the family, but we are really settled in our town and love living here, however we know this could be a short term change and like to think we’d come back eventually to our friends.

The main challenges are leaving our comfy existence in the UK, having to commute (currently work from home) and strangely the bugs / creepy crawlies / sharks are causing some challenges to our thought process.

Money only comes into it as a veto – ie if it isn’t enough then we wouldn’t do it.

What I’m hearing is that the cost of living is sky high and we probably would have a similar lifestyle over there unless I get paid a shed load more.

this sounds like Teachers and I didn’t think that land had been sold..

I’ve ridden down teachers a few time recently and someone had taken a lot of time and effort to try to block the trail – in my eyes causing a real hazard to peoples safety. I remember it happening a year ago too.

If it was smooth, it’d be a BMX track 😉 sounds like some of you would actually prefer it

    WTF??!!

Most people are over biked at trail centres anyway. Learn to ride them and they’ll become an added obstacle that you’ll enjoy when you can maintain your speed and flow through them.

If you are really concerned lend a hand and find out how much it takes to build a trail, then maybe you’ll have more respect for others damn hard work and charity

You could always talk to the CSA (Credit Services Assoc) http://www.csa-uk.com/%5B/url%5D as they are the trade body for DCA’s and see what/who they recommend.

There is no doubt an agency out there that will help you enforce the CCJ or get the money back using another means. It may cost you a commission but if you want it back then it should be worth it. You’ve done the hard bit of getting the CCJ against them.

Boboli gardens are great (asked my wife to marry me there… aaaah)

I really enjoyed just walking around the town in the evening and watching all the families doing the same. Apparently some tradition behind it.

    Nice vibe to the place.

I find wearing my favorite smoking jacket and enjoying some mozart really helps me 😉

Flow – I got your email, will reply later once I’m back from work – bit mental at the moment. Half year review today and not prepared 😯

If you’re reading books, make sure its a good fiction book – I’ve found non-fiction doesn’t help, even some auto-biographies. You need a good story to get lost in. (Thirteen Hours by Deon Meyer is awesome by the way)

I firmly believe that the anxiety around the condition causes the symptoms, both physical and mental. I looked up the effects of over production of the stress hormones (adrenaline / cortisol) on the body and it read like a list of my symptoms. At that point I worked to relax and distract myself from over analysing how I was or how I felt or what was happening to my body, plus taking sleepIng aids, and it has greatly helped.

    Had an awesome ride yesterday!

We went to our local bathroom shop and got some ex display stuff – loads cheaper and good quality.

The guy in there said there were places to save and places to spend. He said to get a good shower wall (We got a Kholer one) and a good toilet – everything else, except maybe the shower, you can save on and on cheap. We did get good taps though.

We did ours for around £3k including fitting. This included a thermostatic shower/bath valve, heated mirror.

LOng story but basically she started a new job back 2 years ago and was given quite a powerful company car that she wasn’t used to (previous car Skoda Fabia). Within 3 months she’d got 9 points all for driving just over slightly over the limit (one was doing 44 in a 40). Learnt her lesson and has been driving very cautiously since.

Apparently this latest one was where the motorway goes from a 70 down to a 50 and she was caught doing 58 by a camera. I wonder if its worth contesting it.

Yeah, she needs her car for work, works in the health industry advising Oncology departments and travels a fair bit (well 20k miles a year)
