This was from snowboarding yesterday for 2 hours (average HR 91bpm, maxHR 130) – If I do any less I’ll be stood still.

I do go out for 2-3 hour MTB rides too which are a lot higher intensity – MaxHR 180 and AverageHR 140-150.

I should add that I’ve recently recovered from CFS.

If you look at the annexing of Gaza and the treatment of the Palestinians then there are certain parallels with historical world events.

    Interesting video.

Admittedly, did drink more beer than water after snowboarding yesterday.

Nutritionally what does everyone eat after to promote recovery?

Is it more protein or carbs???

Dont think anyone is being anti-jew, my issue is very much with the regime in the same way various other regimes havent been that constructive. It doesnt mean we hate the people it just means enough is enough on how they act – look at gaddafi, doesnt mean we hate Libyans, look at the taliban, doesnt mean we hate afghanis, looks at george bush, doesnt mean we hate americans, look at the regime in North Korea, doesnt mean we hate north koreans. What is does mean is something is out of kilter in the ideals the regimes in power hold and change would be beneficial but this problem is down to those in power than the majority of people living there.

Yeah, if they were interested then they would surely take the high moral ground.

I recently met some israelis at a training course. Nice ladies, but when asked during the introduction to mention something interesting about them both mentioned something about being fearful of their lives wiht one saying “I’ll be the only person here who has to go home and have to renew my gas mask”

What sort of country has their subjects living in such fear that it becomes a cross to bear? I got the impression from this and other things that the fear and hate of the situation was used to keep them focused in one direction and almost together as a people.

Yeah, the lack of a medical reason to do it has haunted me since – “why did I do it” being the main thought bouncing round my mind.

I needed more anesthetic too – hurt bad!!

In that case I’d be tempted with a Scott Voltage being added to that list.

Thanks for the advice to everyone who posted originally, actual surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected – had a female doctor call Dr Pickles which gave me the giggles but they suddenly stopped when she put the first needle in. Ouch!! 8O

No real problems post op but has taken an age to heal. Its been 3 weeks and still have pain.

Also I went for a swim a couple of days ago and then when routinely “cleaning the pipes” some blood came out which hadn’t happened before and freaked me out a bit. Anyone had this happen??

I hate Israel’s attitude to Palestine – I can’t believe that most countries support Israel (I know there is some history and politics behind it) but come on!!! Makes me sick to see they can get away with it just because they have links to some of the more powerful countries in the world.

I hope that Iran can sort them out (ideally using a nuclear deterrent than actually letting one off)

I think bumps and grazes on a bike add character and remind me of previous rides (and offs). Don;t use it personally but can see that those who can’t keep a bike long enough to get used to it before selling it on might want to use it.

Thoughts are with you MW, tough times for you and your other half ahead and hope it goes as well as it can.

Rest up and wait until you get an informed opinion to understand what you are dealing with, until then your mind is going to do all sortsof mental maths to get answers which you may not need to even think about.

Whatever does happen makesure your wife knows you love her and in the chaos try to get some quality time. You’re gonna have times of strength and times of emotion and there is no manual for how you deal with these situations but I sure you’ll get through whatever happens as we have a canny knack of overcoming a lot more than we think possible.

Stay strong and healing vibes to your other half.

Good points – bit wary of B&Q generally. Last kitchen we installed was Magnet and it wasn’t too bad but dealing with them wasn’t the easiest. The kitchen we’ve got now and was installed when we moved in 9 years ago I think is Howdens and is properly falling apart – not sure I’d go for them again.

    I believe it was Corkscrew.

Some of our local trails have had similar and its a gutter when you’ve spent so much time building them to have some **** come and drive over them. This is vandalism and very different to walkers on a trail or a biker on a footpath.

Saturday – Looking after the kids in morning, then helping to service my car, replace a turbo hose and change a lower suspension arm in the afternoon :)

    Sunday – Chilling.

No riding as I don’t think my balls would take it.

I suppose this is the challenge – how do you get people aware of the good work already being done so everyone focuses their efforts in the same direction on the same campaigns.

I wasn’t aware of the above.

Lose the MTB and see if you miss it after a season.

So is the solution reducing car use and / or encouraging bike use?

I’ve always thought charging people for the miles they do would be a good deterrent. I know petrol has gone up and some will say that this has reduced car travel but speaking to someone in the motor trade he says he has seen a lot of people reducing their speed to make their fuel go further but still doing the same journeys. Charging people by the miles they do would stop the unnecessary trips – like 500m to go to the shops rather than walking etc or driving kids to school round the corner (like people on my street do when I walk)

By the way I should add my job involves me driving about 20k a year so I’m not saying this as a non-driver.

Turning it on its head – what sort of riding do you do most / or enjoy most and do most often?

    Bushwacked

Damn right about taking responsibility for your actions – although a number of years ago I stopped overtaking cyclists when I wouldn’t have overtaken a motorcyclist. Shame not all drivers think the same.

Wow – was away all day yesterday and just checked in with this. Some great advice there.

What do you mean by the liner packing down??

    Bushwacked

I agree, the points aren’t well made and are a bit OTT. I was tempted to write my own as it is a bit asking for too much.

With such high profile incidents seems a shame not to start something moving on this otherwise when will we ever get anything changes regarding cycle infrastructure / safety

So, why don’t we (as STW) come up with what we’d put in it and then put it on the petition website (that is if we can actually agree on anything)
