My understanding is the blues are like FoD/Glentress blues, the reds and blacks like trail centre blacks and reds and the Pro line like a full on DH track

    Happy to be corrected.

This video shows some of the blacks and they don’t look as bad as I was expecting…

Scott Voltage FR. Awesome bike on trails and DH.

Makes me want a lighter full-sus with a granny ring to replace my Cotic Soul.

There is a certain irony in the title and the OP’s post ;) Couldn’t you think of a better title?

A comparison to Gawton would be interesting too.

I have to say I really struggled with E&L when it came to claiming – they wanted the excess plus a %age of the bill – ended up paying nearly half the overall bill (few hundred quid) rather than just my excess which was less than £100.

Wasn’t the easiest company to deal with and their lunar month payments were weird. 13 payments per year?!

It was amazing yesterday – ProperJob is so much fun – best trail I’ve ridden in the UK so far and some Germans who were riding it were saying it was better than Finale Ligure which surprised me as Finale is on my list of places to visit.

They’ve done an amazing job down there.

Used to live in HK as a kid and only ever flew into Kai Tak, loved coming into it over the city but the water approach was just as interesting since you didn’t see the land until you were down. My brother used to fly light aircraft in and out of Kai Tak as a member of the HK flying club and also flew in some RAF choppers from Sek Kong and said it was bonkers with all the 747s about where you’re in a single engine cessna.

Out house used to overlook the runway from Hong Kong Island (Northpoint) and we could see the planes coming in over Kowloon – spent many hours watching them come in.

We even say a Lufthansa cargo plane go off the end of the run way and watch the army come in and dismantle it – first thing they did was cover up the tailplane to stop any bad press. :)

Depends on a number of factors I’ve been told, but after 3 months she’s already 6kg which is the upper end of a standard size Patterdale and she’s on track to be about 12.5kg fully grown.

I took her out this morning in the woods for a walk which ended up lasting slightly longer but I ended up carrying her after a while. She’s had a little sleep and is now ready to go again.

Our’s gets the “zooms” after her last feed at 9.30 – we’ve started calling her “Night Fury” as she is totally black and will hide and we just can’t see her until she charges out at us from her hiding place.

Here’s a recent pic from the park

That was two weeks ago and she’s grown loads since then. She’s already the size of an adult Jack Russell we know and almost the same size as her mum.

Greeble – I got the impression that was the map of the trails that WILL be open in the future but from the video there was talk of less (2 blue, 2 red and 2 black)…

    Says here at 4.43:

I’m assuming this is what’s happening

Anyone know how many trails are going to be open on day 1? I got the impression from one of the vids it wasn’t going to be all.

Cheers for the advice – will continue with the yelp – my youngest (in the pic above) hasn’t quite got the idea of yelping – instead squeaks like a toy and waves here arms and legs about exciting the pup even more

Bit of an update (was gonna post one sooner but thanks to a lightening strike we’ve been without Broadband for a week and still waiting for BT to pull their finger out – currently using a mobile phone hotspot)

She’s now sleeping through the night locked in her crate and not wetting her bed from 10.30 until 6.30am :) Few issues with weeing on the carpet in the dining room and play biting but otherwise everything is going really well.

She’s definitely got a bit of Lab in her as she will eat anything and everything – including dried cat poo which is an absolute joy to forcibly remove from her mouth.

What I’ve found for a number of uplift days is some people who have massive £4k bikes and all the body armour to take on Bruce Willis in a Die hard film can’t actually ride as well as you’d expect ;) This is something I was surprised about having thought that all people on uplifts were riding gods – totally changed my perception.

I’ve also met some sound people riding uplifts recently – both people riding full on DH rigs or like the guy I met recently from East Anglia who was riding Gawton in an XC lid and a bike which some may say was unsuitable but wasn’t at all. I was a little wary of uplifting on my own but have turned out to be some of the best days riding recently.

I wasn’t sure about the Zealot when looking for a new pack but got it to add alongside my MULE for all day rides – use it now even just for short blasts. Great bit of kit.

Its a no brainer for me if i’m going to a DH venue.

I think it’s a no brainer even for venue’s which aren’t full on DH they are worth it too (Although the definition of Full on DH will vary from people to people – Some say FOD doesn’t actually have any blacks). Bit like going skiing for a week and riding blues and reds – If Skiing was just doing blacks far less people would do it. This will make biking far more accessible.

    The press release says…

designed to be enjoyed by mountain bike riders of all kinds from XC whippets to elite DH racers and everything In between with a real emphasis on trails that can be enjoyed on mid travel trail bikes.

I love a good climb but I also love improving my riding – these sort of places are great for that. You can repeat runs and gradually improve without having to do laps which can increase tiredness and risk injury.

Gawton is similar with HSD and Proper Job both red runs, you can rinse and repeat all day and its amazing how you improve in such a short time.

I might look into a clicker.

Had a great night last night. Got her in the pen with the crate (She doesn’t like the crate that much at the moment but we’re working on making it a fun place she wants to be in) and turned the lights off and sat there for 5 mins in the dark on a chair giving her no attention but just being there. She calmed down after 2-3mins. I went to bed about 11pm (left a light on in another room she could see it) and 6am I’m up and she’s out in the garden doing a poo. Admitedly there is a wee on the paper but if I can get her settled to be quiet at night then once she is used to the crate I can confine her in there and get the toilet training sorted with her whining more when she wants to go to the toilet than just for attention.

Lazgoat – When you did the toilet stops did you get up at those times and take your pup or did the pup wake you up?

I’ve heard good things about harnesses from a point of view of not damaging the dogs neck. But then a lot of people have recommended slip leads too.

Lovely pics. How do you get on with the harness?

    Kristoff – I’m assuming a purebred Lab there?? :)
