Same as what I heard on the Inline.

“Luckily” I’ve got a Performance shock.

Part of me wonders if I’m polishing a turd going down this route.

Tell me about it – bike is awesome but let down by the toothpick forks and the shock – interesting to see most this year have Cane Creek DBInline or RS Mon+ spec’d. The volume reducer “helped” slightly – but still not overly happy – worth a try though.

On the forks I’ve got some Marzocchi 350ncr’s coming my way – can’t wait!

    Oooooh, I think I’m booking it in…

I’m tempted to try it out – you hear of some many people buying shocks off the net and then having to tune them. THat was the reason for going to TF Tuned was so they could tune the shock I was going to buy.

Paul – that’s my issue – Getting so many pedal strikes in corners from the travel wallowing and bottom it out most rides – add more air and it feels harsh on the small stuff but still goes through the travel too much. Sent it to TF Tuned about a year ago and they changed the volume and adjusted some ports internally better – but still not great. Compared to my Vip’r it is a poor bogan cousin.

Rickon – I’m about 90kgs with all my kit. Tweaked the air pressure and reduced the volume – see above. My mate is a suspension tinkerer and he hasn’t been able to get it to hit the sweet spot yet.

    The CTD lever is rubbish!

LOL on the Garmin – I’d love to have a dog GPS to see how far she runs

Andy – totally agree – the big challenge I have is as soon as we go into the woods food is off the agenda as all the other smells take over.

It would be good to get her more controlled as I only ride currently on loops with no roads as she always runs about 10-15m in front and which dangerous near roads.

She’s a stubborn bitch but will give it a go.

Any tips on getting a good “heel” going? We’ve used Cheese and HotDogs to great effect in the past but interested in any tips

Jedi – sweet. I’ll have to drop by to have an evening ride with you sometime.

We’ve penciled in the 1st Thursday/Friday of July

Michael cycle – totally with you and from what ive seen, heard and want to do I’d be a fool to not invest in a guide. Plus I have no issue in paying to ride. Just got back from south Africa where you have to pay to ride and the trails are the bollocks as a result

Genoa or Nice I assume are the closest airports?

If you are flying you’ll have more choice, driving last year we went for one of the easy to get to resorts which the obvious ones are Morzine, Les Gets and Les Deux Alps. If you don’t want bike park and are happy to ride up then this widen’s out you options too.

In terms of getting there – this thread has some interesting opinions

Fly or Drive to the Alps

Have a practice run – my last mini at FOD 3 of the 4 tracks were different so I rode each once to scope them out.

WHole load of fun – some tech trails which I’m sure you’ve already ridden.

Saw it earlier today and I’m so excited but after reading this thread I’m going to try my hardest to avoid all hype and talk of it until I’ve watched it.

    well, I say that now…

    can’t see out the front

Just come back from South Africa on Turkish Airlines and they have a camera on the front so you can see out of the front – awesome on landings and take offs.

11 MPG off a diesel golf

Jeez – Got a diesel Audi so that might be an issues – maybe two cars – one with bikes and the other with people.

So, sounds like drive is the way forward – not that keen on plane for the faff and hassle of having to be picky on what you take

Another question, considering Bikes on roof (Estate) or inside – less passengers or higher fuel bills – personally I’d like to try bikes on roof but think it’ll cane the MPG.

Anyone able to say how they compare to pikes?

Phut – tempted, what condition are they in? Do they come with reciepts etc for warranty purposes and how much use have they had?

I’m abroad at the moment on a family holiday so need to check the funds once I get back.

it was bought off their measurements and they’ve not made it to their drawings, nothing to do with us. Two wall units, one is perfect the other isn’t – the issue comes down to they mismeasured the extractor so the housing is out.

another issue we had was delivery of the appliances and doors which were delayed,so the fitter put the units up, then put the extractor in, then the end panels and then when the doors finally turned up he couldn’t get them aligned. If we had everything on time he may have noticed it earlier, but still would have had to fit it. We got the kitchen company round straight away to inspect and advise and their initial reaction was to blame our fitter and took the stance of “it’s not our issue”

The issue is the company didn’t take the right measurements of the extractor and made the cabinets too tall so everything is out (doors and end panels). On putting it all together the fitter found it didn’t come together right. He couldn’t have made it good or have caused it as I can show the problem with a tape measure. The fitter was one of the best I’ve used – real attention to detail and an excellent carpenter too. Some of the bespoke kitchens he’s made in the past are amazing.

If they haven’t fixed the issues in 6 months with £10k hanging over them why would they if I paid them.

I’ve been told its the previous owner who is chasing this debt as it relates to pre-sale debt.

Bombers might be easier and far more satisfying.

Just checked the internet and the guy involved was given a fine and a criminal record due to some council related dispute a few years back – apparently they couldn’t resolve it through discussion – does that count as form?

    It’s just under £10k.

Gonna send the letter to them tomorrow recorded delivery and call them also. It’s a fairly civil letter stating I am keen to resolve and will be providing 4 options:

    1. Go to court over this under the grounds that they have not delivered what was agreed and have not made any satisfactory efforts to resolve the outstanding issues.
    2. They fix the issues and we agree an amount that I will pay.
    3. I get a quote for the work, have this completed and take this sum plus costs off the outstanding amount.
    4. We agree an amount in full and final settlement and we walk away from the matter.

I have an email detailing our issues and that we have not paid as they have not been resolved.

good call on the house insurance.

I feel it’s bluster, apparently the owner of the firm is chasing but he sold the company recently so imagine he is chasing as the sale was for a certain amount minus the bad debt – anything he collects lines his pocket.

I like my forks but the marketing and my mates say a set of pikes will be better. I suppose I’ll have to try. As my kids say yolo!

My current forks are 140mm and would be going for 150mm (bike can take it)

Riding a lot of fun stuff – local dh trails, usual xc stuff etc you could call it enduro ;)

Yoga is awesome. I used to be dead against it from a new age, calming the mind point of view but could see the value from stretching – now I do it for both reasons – mainly as I have a stressful job and I find it really allows me to unwind plus I’m getting on and injuries if I don’t stretch seem more common place.

In fact I’m sat in a yoga pose right now as I type this stretching from a ride earlier.

Might get the zip replaced like you say. Some of the jackets look a bit full on winter.

Sounds like brutal surgery to go through and I imagine your body will take some time to fully recover.

There is a lot of good advice above including not over training but I’d also suggest some meditation to help give the body the best chance of healing. The theory being that by calming the mind, even just for 10 mins a day, will help with getting better sleep and generally putting your body into a better position to heal itself faster.

I got switched onto it after being diagnosed with fatigue following a viral infection compounded by over training, it massively helped me reduce the mental tiredness and get back to cycling again. (I was a complete non-believer before)

Check out something like Headspace I think they are still doing a free trial. Worth trying if you are eager to get back to full fitness.

    Wishing you all the best.
