Only one I can remember was someone asking me what was wrong with my wheel, as I had just built it I thought I should look which bought him much pleasure.

I would also recommend getting new bearings from a bearing shop. You can get good quality branded bearings for less than the price of the rebadged crap that a lot of bike companies will supply you with.

I am still using mine with no issues but they are the alloy versions and my scratch isn’t as deep (my brake lever took the brunt of the hit).

Havocs must be cursed as mine also got scratched in a crash only a couple of days after I got them!

Drive them through the heart of a goat at the next full moon and I guarantee that the curse might be lifted and the bars might be fine.

Fully Sussed XC race @ Newnham Park Plymouth on Sunday

Hopefully this but it looks like I might not be able to get there. 🙁
And a couple of hours of local (north devon) xc today.

No idea about the distance but I did the Newnham 60 in January and it was MUDDY, thick claggy wheel jamming stuff, and based on the rain I would guess there will be more of the same tomorrow! Still a nice place and likely to be a good course, just wish I could get down to plymouth for tomorrows race. 🙁

i want to know where they photograph them…trains, gardens, offices!?

Anywhere they can find which has decent pointing and no weeds, wouldn’t want to offend the singletrack massive!

+1 for havocs you can always get the hacksaw out if you don’t like the width.

CB eggbeaters- now 6 years old, but they do feel like they are on the brink of death.

When I asked if they could verify who they were I was put onto the “head technician” who said he was John and that was all he would tell me, other than that my computer would explode if I didn’t accept his help.

I managed 20mins today, I thought I did quite well, I will try harder next time.

oh and those bikes that have something to do with a fruit and number more than 4 and less than 6 (can’t even type the name)

I thought most of the fruity bikes looked horrible, not just the numbered one!

Unfortunately you will have to find a way to hide them from roadies. They are likely to try to kill you!

    you can’t extend a Haven

I got Havocs for this reason plus a good offer at Merlin and i’m glad I did. I think I will cut them down a bit but I doubt that I will take them down as short as the havens.

I used to swap between the two depending on conditions and how I felt. Now I stick to SPDs as I can’t ever be asked to put my flats on.

The little nut which holds the valve stem in place, I thought they were boring when I didn’t need them, now I do (ust) they are even worse! 🙁

They should be clipped on the back of the gear indicators

Surely the fact that the op has put this in the wrong section despite there only being two is a good enough reason not to have sub forums…
That and the fact that I don’t like them.

Find some with removable valve cores then add a little stans?

if you want good brakes stick with avid

They are just really good kit! Easy to use, strong and the finish takes a lot of abuse. I have had mine for ages and it still looks like new, I would buy another. Others will tell you that you can get other posts of similar or better quality for less but I am yet to find one.

Glad to hear you survived! How do you secure your bikes while you are asleep? I’ve thought about bivvying on a ride but knowing my luck during the 5 minutes sleep I eventually get some **** will nick my bike.

I reckon hope should make us some nice looking cranks

They are making cranks! Probably be a while before they are available though!

I have been using 819s on my hardtail for a few months now, they are holding up nicely. They sealed fine with standard (non ust tyres) and haven’t burped or deflated at all but I am quite light. What more could you want?

An Xtr shifter, its very nice.

I’ve never used their disc brake pads and after having a set of their pads on the road bike I never will! They were terrible!

£80!? That’s ridiculous I’m assuming that there are lots of spares/second hand bits going on this bike! And CRC have been fine for me and there delivery is back up to speed again, ordered last night dispatched by the time I got home today.

Has to be chain guides, with the exception of superstar they all seem to be ridiculous considering that you can get an Xtr front mech(which is surely a much more complex expensive thing to make)for a similar price to a lot of chain guides!!!

    +1 for removing shifter windows
but you will need new shifters as deore do not have removable windows anything better does so SLX, XT, saint or XTR all of which are good shifters it just depends on your budget.

Lighter weight spokes which are usually more expensive are generally weaker due to being thinner. If you want something nice and strong plain gauge spokes like DT swiss champion should be good.

How about an older, pre eccentric bottom bracket, chameleon I love mine not sure what year they started putting them on but it wouldn’t take you long to find out.

    Superlite shorts
Have you attached them to the bike

Clearly you didn’t think this comment through! You have to carry the weight of your gear too!

I have a 2003 SC Chameleon and I would definitely not consider that to be retro. Although the fact that it needs an adapter to run disc brakes does show its age a little. I would say 10-15 years, but then my bike would be about to fall into that category so I will have to say 15ish.

Does the liner in your humvees not just unclip? I wear my humvee outers with whichever pair of lycras I find first, or some days without any liner at all 😮
