I bought mine from Us ebay, worked out about £70 with shipping. Could try some IRD fire xc pro tyres, if you can find them or bontrager have a good selection of tyres.

Assuming the position on your bike is correct the bad back is probably down to weak core muscles. I used to suffer the same problem and doing bike specific core excersises cured the problem.

The knee problem could be saddle height/position or clet position. IIRC this book has a section on the correct way to set up your bike. It’s very good made a big difference for me but it’s a bit to long to explain on here. If your local Evans have it in stock you could nip in for a sneaky read!

Man, what a fuss about a few harmless pictures. If they had an A&A thread on mumsnet do you think they would be arguing like this?

Would be a bad time to get into engineering, its always hit hard in a recession. I was a welder/fabricator for 10 years (had to give it up as I got white finger) and I wouldn’t recommended it to anybody as a trade. I guess it would be ok as a stop gap but long term it’s just to hard on your health. If you look at the old guys who have being doing it all their life they all have bad eyes and hearing, you also risk serious lung problems. Would you still want to be doing it at 65?

A company I worked for supplied parts for the avonmouth bridge re-fit a few years ago and all the original welders on that job went down with lung problems caused by the paint. Even on the new stuff if it’s manufactured outside the uk you don’t know whats in the stuff as there aren’t many health and safety laws in india, china etc.

Moneys not great either, I was offered a job recently for £10 p/h which doesn’t seem to bad until you compare it to other trades such as sparkies, air-con guys (mates getting £35 p/h, paye, flat rate!) etc.

How height are you? If your tall and do mainly xc or/and a lot of road riding they are worth a look. I like mine but i’m 6’6″ so it’s the only sensible choice for xc/trail riding. Would still get a 26″ bike for more technical/fr stuff due to a lack of good long travel forks and tyres plus heavy duty 29″ wheel/tyre set ups are very heavy. Too much for my weak legs to be pushing around for to long.

I only know of 2 metres max but wouldn’t you be better off with more than one lock and just the one to the anchor? With the one lock once that is gone you can have the pick of the bikes. With several you might be able to remove the one from the wall anchor but you still couldn’t move 10 bikes in one go. Thats the way i’ve always thought, know it takes longer to lock and unlock and it’s a bit of a PITA but it’s a lot less trouble than saving up for 10 new bikes. Also recently lost keys to my bike with two cable locks on and it took less than five minutes to remove both with a not very good hacksaw, good make locks as well.

I’m not into them either, just not interested. I just got an xbox 360 free and sold it in the classifieds. It’s weird because as a kid I lived in the arcades, I had a spectrum+2 which I loved and i’ve got an addictive personality.

Not knocking anyone who likes them, each to their own and all that. The one thing that I do find a bit strange is the way people seem to get so addicted to them, much more so than when I was a kid. Thats not a dig by the way just an observation.

A chap I worked with had the same problem. What he did was waited until she went in to the kitchen, followed her in and started looking through all the cupboards and draws until she got so annoyed that she asked him “what are you doing?”. To which he replied “looking for your tongue”.

I contacted the seller explained the problem and asked for a replacement or my money back and said that if I was offered a replacement I would be checking it to make sure it was 32gb. To be fair to him he offered me a refund so hopefully that will come through and i’ll buy one from a reliable source. Lesson learned!!!

Yeah it was off Ebay, supposedly good make, Kingston class4. I transfered 1 album to make sure all was ok then tried to transfer my whole library about 31gb and only got about 10% of it on then as I said started going really slow. As with most things like this am now wiser and should have checked that it was in fact 32gb with the above tool! I’m guessing that it has corrupted the card beyond repair? Try and get my money back I suppose but didn’t pay by paypal so don’t hold out much hope. Thanks all for your help, if anyone thinks it can be repaired/recovered let me know.

The card did show 32gb before I started using it. Might be a stupid question but how do I check my computers card readers capability?

I have one and really like it. As above warm, good fit, good ventilation and i’d buy another one when this one wears out.

Could be an air leak. Get a can of wd40(other brands available) and spray it around all of the engine, while running. If the revs increase even further for a short period of time it has an air leak. Other than that can’t help other than it might be a sender somewhere. You can buy fault code readers and dvd’s from ebay for not a lot and they should help?

Don’t use the above they are dangerous in small unventilated areas e.g. vans!

Well done fella, bit of bad luck with being sick/illness. Doesn’t matter how well you train (and sounds like you more than prepared) if you get ill or an injury on the day when your doing something that hard thats unfortunately the end of things.

Hope things go better on the next attempt.

160mm, if the head angle is to slack then you can always reduce the travel. I think i'm right in saying that on the new 36's you can easily reduce the travel by removing spacers.

What type of torque wrench are you using?

    or

The top one isn't much good on lower torques such as your stem and they should always be returned to zero after use otherwise it knackers up the calibration.

It sounds like there was a fault with the bolt or threads, it shouldn't snap being 25% over torqued, trouble is now you have drilled it you can't try the warranty route.

We all make mistakes and even with experience you'll still do it. I recently cracked an alloy head trying to remove a broken exhaust stud which cost me £300 and hours of work. It happens, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I'm confused, I like roadrats and pompinos, i've owned a proper road bike and i'm as vain as the next guy when it comes to mtb's (we all love a bit of bling) what does that make me? 😉

"I'm not sure I see a need to apologise."

If you take out of the equation the fact that millions of people have to pay back money they won't have I think the country is still owed an apology for the no doubt tens of millions wasted on a rubbish computer system. That computer system then has to be replaced at a cost of more millions plus the added cost of sorting out the mess. How nice it must be to be in a position where you can waste that sort of money and not feel the need to even apologise for it!

    Have to agree with thefunkeymonkey – C O C K !!!

    which waterproof spray

Nikwax, grangers etc only replenise the dwr they dont' re-waterproof.

Grangers or Nikwax, Grangers arguably slightly better, but they both work and neither need to be heat treated.

You've never read the instructions on grangers then? It must be heat treated to work!

Why do you think that Grangers DWR decreases breathability? It's pretty much the same as the treatment originally applied to the fabric.

Breathability comes from the fabric and has nothing to do with the treatment, unless its wax or wax based.

    lol

As said before, the scaffold poles, planks of wood and a large pry bar. Lay the scaffold planks down, pry bar it (after dumping the water and rocks) on to the 1st scaffold pole and keep edging it forward on to more scaffold bars ( at least 3 under it at one time) then pry it forward on to another and put the last in front and repeat. It will be a case of where it lands is where it lands but you can get it pretty close.

The lakes is a great place to ride but all of the really good rides include some hike-a-biking. Grizedale is good for the flatter stuff (in comparison) and there is some very good riding there. If you don't mind hike-a-bike the nan bield loop, walna scar, high street and helvellyn are all good.

It will be running bontrager tyres so you'll have to use some jra wheel milk/joes/bontrager/stans liquid latex to seal up the sidewalls as bontrager tubeless ready tyres need this to become a full tubeless set up. Stans/joes syastems use the same liquid latex and a rubber strip to make the rim tubeless and the mavic ust system can be used without juice just like your car tyres but people sometimes put some form of liquid latex in just in case they pick up a thorn and that way they won't get a flat.

Tubeless ready tyres generally mean thicker side walls and a better sealing bead. Tubeless rims are air tight if used with ust tyres or normal/tubeless ready tyres and liquid latex. All seems a bit complex to start with but it's straight forward once you understand the different systems.

So when would be the best time to pass Bristol on the M5 then?
Going from the North to Exeter next week.

Not in daylight hours from early midday friday to late saturday evening during bank holidays or summer months. Might get lucky during those times but best avoided during. North bound as well.

Our leader is a ^&*( too – but I would like to think that other countries wouldn't write off our whole country on that basis.

I didn't write the whole country off as a result of the leader I only and I think rightly so put forward the actions of the countries leader as an example of the country, hence my reference to obama.

Why is it that anytime anybody posts a negative response in a thread like this your labelled or it is implied your a racist?

Where did anyone say that? Interesting that you brought it up though…

You have read the whole thread then!?!

I do get brassed off when people come into this country & get NHS treatment before others who have contributed to the NI system.

So, do you actually know the reasons for this (if indeed it's even true)? And you know that these 'immigrants' have no entitlement to NHS care? And that their medical needs are no more serious than anybody else?

Otherwise it just sounds like a typical BNP style load of bollocks, sorry. I'd be interested in seeing some real facts on this though, if you actually have any. Otherwise I'll just assume that it's misinformed jingoistic claptrap.

I leave ginger biscuits out so that they go a bit soft. I prefer them like that!

Oh yeah and Africa isn't a country. Nor is afrcia for that matter.

Sorry Africa is a continent but thank you for the typical response, pick fault with the spelling and belittle.

Why is it that anytime anybody posts a negative response in a thread like this your labelled or it is implied your a racist? Yes it is terrible that hundreds of thousands of people are in hell right now but ask yourself this what has the leader of their country done today(might have been yesterday?) He has spent the day at his sons college, eton/oxford or such like promoting him and his political party as he is widely tipped to be the next leader of the country, odd that being his son! What would have been made of president obama going on a jolly when they went through the bp or 'katrina' disaster?

You are wasting your time helping those who won't help themselves, regardless of creed or colour. Billions have been pumped into countries like india, pakistan, afrcia etc and it has made no difference. Those at the top keep it for themselves and let others suffer.

Also colonization wasn't only a one way thing, yes it was done by us for purely selfish reasons but where would those countries be now without the infrastrucure we put in place during colonization?

People need to stand back and take a look at the WHOLE picture without jumping on their soap boxes.

Trouble is with the way ebay is run now i.e. sellers can't leave buyers negative feedback, buyers can pretty much do what they like.
