I have to say that in general I agree with Yunki on drugs and teenagers. Their generation has been exposed to drugs in a way that no other has, it is rife. Obviously not all will get involved but a far higher percentage will than any other generation that has passed before.

I remember hearing on the news approximately 15 years ago that 95% of £20 notes had traces of cocaine on them. If you stop and think about that it is a staggering fact even more so when you consider that when that news report came out ecstasy was still the recreational drug of choice and before the explosion of cocaine use you have now. How can you say drug use is not prolific with facts like that?

Sounds like they know their stuff and having done bikes before is a good sign. Not a bad price either.

I believe if you have an in built weakness and do more than experiment with drugs they will either bring out that weakness in you when it otherwise would have laid dormant or make it a lot worse when it does come out.

They don't work for everyone. I had a pair of the tights not long after they came out for fell running. They had the opposite effect and caused my legs to fatigue quicker, hills I could normally run up with no problems became very painful and very long. Did some research on it and found that for a small percentage of people they can have the opposite effect. Quick way to lose £60 🙁

Had the same problem but did manage to get it sealed in the end. Trouble was whenever I had to put air in I would disturb the valve and it would p**s air. Didn't install a lot of confidence and could see myself stranded somewhere with flat tyres so gave up in the end and fitted the rim strips and i've never had a problem.

Don't take it to a car body shop there is no welding standard in the car industry (except manufacture). The tubes on the frame will be paper thin and need to be braised you will more than likely get some mechanic try and mig it with their welder and blow bl**dy great holes in it. Ring up your local welding/engineering companies and ask if any of them would be able to braise it for you. It will never be as strong as it was but should be able to achieve a good repair. If you don't mind it looking a bit ugly you could always get them to weld the crack, flatten it back then weld a new gusset over the top of the old one which would relive the stress from the crack. If you hadn't already guessed I used to weld for a living.

Highrollers have to be one of maxxis best selling tyres and no 29er, can't work that one out?

I had the 07 van and 08 talas, both rc2. The van was plusher and much better through out the whole stroke of the fork, set it up and never touched it again. The talas I was forever altering to try and find the right setting, it was either slightly to soft and blew through the travel or slightly to stiff. I am 15-15.5 stone (with kit) though so makes it harder to get air forks right.

Just re-read the thread again, am I correct in saying that the problems have started not long after you replaced the turbo? You said that the turbo pressure was down from 14psi to 10psi, if thats the case the first place I would look is the turbo, sounds like you might have had a pipe come loose or it's leaking i.e. drawing in air somewhere. If the turbos ok then do the above.

If the turbo was gone and putting a lot of oil in to the engine while it was running I would check the compression first because oil is very dense and if there was enough in the bores while it was running the piston wouldn't be able to travel it's full stroke and it could have caused some damage. If all is ok with the compression take the injectors out and have them tested, if they are not working correctly the car will run like s**t and they will more than likely be causing your problems.

I know having the compression and injectors tested is expensive but until you know they are correct you could just be going around in circles making things worse. Trouble is with diesels when they go wrong they are expensive to fix. Been down the same road with older diesels myself and I won't buy another one just not worth it.

whats been said above but also check where the pad slides on the caliper. If corrosion has built up on the caliper or the pattern pads aren't 100% your pad might not be returning properly.

You could always run it with slightly less air pressure and therefore get more sag.

valleydaddy, can't hate them. What about the old pot noodle ad's, the salmon ad with the bear and fisherman? Some are pure genius.

I have always found shimano chains better than sram and kmc make shimano chains. They obviously don't have to make their own to a set cost and can therefore afford to make a better chain for the same price. Steer clear of the lightweight chains you just pay more for a chain that stretchs quicker and wears out your drive train. Lightweight chains are fine if your a sponsered 10 stone racing whippet who doesn't pay for his/her own stuff!

What difference does a light bike make? A bigger hole in your pocket!

If the "do one round pauls" went to the 'go compare's' house we could get rid of two annoy sh*ts in one go!!!

??ebay?? It can vary, if you have two people desperate to outbid each other then you can do rather well out of it. But in general I would say you get a fair price especially with bike stuff as so many people watch it, not many bargins on there unless it's buy it now. You do have to be prepared for a lot of hassle though which has been made even worse by sellers not being able to leave negative feedback for buyers, meaning they have you by the short and curlys! Stripping it will return a lot more if you can be bothered, remembering it is very difficult to post a whole bike.

I've been using it recently for the first time. It's very good stuff, strong, flexible and can be used on wet surfaces but I wouldn't use it for sealing around a bath/shower. If it's just a sealant your after use a polyurethane sealant which is the same type of thing as silicone but lasts longer/uv resistant/easier to use but more expensive. If it's a sealant and adhesive your after try plumbers gold it's made for just that type of application and its cheaper, £5.74 from tool station. CT1 and Plumbers Gold are worlds apart from the no-nails rubbish.

From the centre of bb to top of seatube is 24". I don't know much about correct angles etc just told him the height of the seat and distance to bars with 90mm stem etc and left the rest to his judgement. First bike I have had which acually fits me rather than me trying to fit it.

It's a 100mm F29. The bike was designed around its a2c with 30% sag so I can also run an on-one carbon fork.

Have you thought about Justin Burls (http://www.burls.co.uk/index.php)? I have a custom titanium 29er from him which I am very pleased with. I wanted a 29er(my first one) for xc/long rides/light touring and firstly looked at Dave Yates and did some basic enquiries and got as far as being told they would be willing to make one. By chance one of the mtb mags did an article on custom titanium frames and one of his frames was featured and rated well. He makes the steel frames himself but designs then subs the titanium build out to someone in Russia, which I was initially nervous about. I went with him because the yates and burls came in around the same price but the burls was titanium.

I don't know a lot about angles etc but I have owned a few different bikes and I am more than impressed with the bike. It does everything I wanted very well and exceeded my expectations. There were a few minor niggles such as I asked for full cable routing and I got standard plus I had to do a bit more polishing to the frame. This didn't bother me at all but I thought i'd mention it because from what you read on forums to some people it would be the end of the world At the end of the day it's a custom titanium frame for £1000!

I know my experience is with titanium and your after a longer travel steel but it would be designed by the same man and if he is building it you wouldn't get the minor niggles I had which probably arouse from a translation issue. There is a picture of my bike in the review section (Dave Ti 29er MTB). This is my first post and if I manage to work out how to post pictures and your interested i'll post dims of the frame.
