Nice looking bike and like the build. As said before the painted rear triangle makes it look a lot better. Top marks goes to that decking though, bigger than a lot of flats!

That's just paranoia though, in my humble, the number of people who must get legitimately "caught out" by this a year must be about what, 5 or 10. In 66 million. I'll take my chances.

Sold a new knife to a guy in his 60's who got stopped at an airport by the police (before all the new security measures) who had a victorinox in his backpacking rucksack with backpacking gear and they prosecuted. I know it's in an airport but he is going away camping and in his 60's what harm is he ever going to do? A few policeman on here if so be interesting to hear their opinion?

Doesn't matter on the size of the blade, as you can always get done for having a 'sharply pointed object' under a different bit of legislation.

I was talking to a solicitor about this and he said you can theoretically be prosectuted for carrying a ball point pen under this legislation. Another case of good idea but executed with little or no common sense.

Ring the National Debit Line[/url] very helpful and free.

Lots of changes in this area recently and it might not be your only option and if it is they can walk you through it all. Few years back it wouldn't have caused you as many problems once you had been through the bankrupcy period but with todays and the future financial climate you could be in for a rough ride (if you need credit).

We don't even build the trident missles – they are bought in from the state (as was polaris).

And thats why we will ultimately end up buying them.

    Care to explain why?

We are a very small country with nothing like the resources/people of countries like Russia, China, America etc. The only reson we were a major power within the world is because we had the largest and most advanced navy, the most powerful military equipment of that era and colonized 3/4 of the world. Those days have long gone and we have slowly lost are world standing. The only thing still keeping the country as a world player is the fact that London is basically the financial hub of the world something in turn which will slow move to China and without that what have we to offer the world? We have no manufacturing, no natural resources, no massive labour force etc etc

Scrap it, it's about time we stopped thinking of ourselves as a major power in the world. The money could be put to better use and really what does it matter as in 20 years China will be the major power in the world and it will be a very different place with them as good as running it.

    Your point being?

A lot is the luck of the draw on an older car. But with basic mechanical skills you can do rebuilds on carbs, heads etc but diesel pumps repairs/timing, injectors etc often need specialist equipment to check if their running correctly or repair and if you have running problems where do you start without throwing a lot of money at it? I used to think the same buy a cheap diesel but myself, my brother and my dad have all had older diesels go wrong which had to be scrapped due to not being able to fix without expensive specialist repairs. I've got good mechanical skills, my brother was a mechanic for 15 years and my dad was a diesel fitter for 20 years, what does that say to you?

If your buying a really cheap car i'd steer clear of diesels. You might get lucky and get one which goes on for years but your more likely to get problems IMO and when you do they are very expensive. IIRC there was a recent thread on an old passat diesel and he had no end of problems. If you get an old petrol with carb you don't have to worry about injector problems, diesel pump etc. If your not doing a lot of mileage in a year then the difference on fuel is small. Had a 1.1l pug 205 which did 50mpg was easy and simple to fix when I had a problem (which was never anything major).

Second getting quotes first, it will probably be the largest cost. Young lad I know is paying £1400 for an old 400 series rover which isn't uncommon. Looking in motor magazines at the list of cars in the back as they usually give insurance group, mpg etc.

You only need proof of purchase but as said above the warranty is non-transferable. Sometimes you can blag these things (unlikely in your situation) but it all depends on the returns policy of the shop and manufacturer. Some manufacturers have a really good/lenient returns system and therefore retailers are more likely to take the return as they know they will get a more favourable result as the decision about warranty issues is down to the manufacturer.

EDIT: Should type a bit quicker!

    Torq Recovery

Works really well (mixed with milk) but I only use it after hard rides other than that think soya/whey protein is as good as any of the more expensive alternatives.

If price isn't an issue go for the terra-nova laser competition tent. It's not much heavier than a bivi and you get a roof over your head. Personally can't get my head around a bivi, what happens if it rains, bugs crawling all over you. Hooped bivi's are like a coffin, not for me, give me a roof everytime. If your stuck on a bivi as previously mentioned heard good things about alpkit, quality kit at reasonable prices.

As said before it will get better. In the short term try and fill your time with something, riding, going for a drink with a few friends, just something other than sitting at home on your own. Feel for you fella it is hard, all will come well with time.

Don't think you can go far wrong with any of the choices mentioned. If I could get one to fit (to tall) my vote would be for the ragley with a 36float reduced to 140mm, hardtail heaven. Like you said there seems to be something about the ragley, just looks like a bike you could have a lot of fun on 😆

Did you change the wheels with the mech still on the hanger? If not could have altered in another way rather than it being the jockey wheels. If not could the jockey wheels possible be handed, odd one that, 2 cogs is quite a distance.

I have had a couple of sets of m4's and have at times run without them and never had a problem. Has anyone ever had one pull out or have I had a little bit of luck(mixed with a little bit of stupidity)?

I'm not excusing drink drivers. My point is that there are people on the road who are as dangerous if not more so who don't receive the same criminal or social punishment as DD's which IMO isn't fair.

The simple answer is no. What does annoy me though is the demonization of anyone who d&d's as if it's the worse thing you can do behind the wheel. What about all those people who need glasses to read as they can't see as far as their elbow without them and then drive without glasses, old people who are so fraile they can't even turn their heads, people speeding, hgv drivers on the phone etc etc. Nothing gets done about those problem drivers and it is socially acceptable just like d&d was 40 years ago. I personally would rather be on the road with someone whos had 3 pints than someone who can hardly see or has the reaction speeds of a snail.

I'm guessing that a bent rotor will never be completely straight again – is that right?

Depends how bent it is, you'll never get it 100% again, personally i'd buy another one.

I'm a big fan of the rim but unless you really need it, its to much weight to live with IMO. It's not just the extra 100-150g rim weight its also the extra 100-200g ust tyre weight which on longer rides really kills your legs(well my week a*s ones!). I currently only have a 29er but if I went back to 26" it would be an am bike and I would have 2 sets of wheels, 823's and a lighter set with faster rolling tyres for longer days and less gnarly routes.

Depends on your weight, riding style etc. I had the exact same set up on a nomad and thought they were great but i'm 210-220lbs with kit, lived in the lakes at the time and hard on wheels. With high roller ust's on I found anything over 4 hours of riding in that area with that weight/rolling resistance very hard going, really wiped you out. If your riding style/weight doesn't need them you could always buy them, sell them and use the money towards a lighter set of wheels.

I had some banging noises coming from a set I had, rang mojo and it turned out to be the spring hitting the inside wall of the slider. They sent me a heat shrink sleeve for it (great customer sevice, free of charge). Think it was more on compression so not saying thats your problem but it's a cheap and easy place to start.

mastiles_fanylion – I had a 1.1 litre car which did 50 mpg so it did have a noticable effect on mpg so I suppose it depends on your car, weight in the car etc

Used halfords budget and thule roof bars on different cars and found both to work fine. The thule are easier to fit and you can buy lock kits etc, if I bought again I would go with the cheap ones unless I was taking them off and on a lot. Only used a karrite roof box which was fine, didn't really experience any bad issues with noise etc. The only problem is the cost, way over priced for what you get, a plastic molded roof box with 2 hinges for £200-£300 is a joke IMO. Also take them off if your not using them as the roof bars on there own still reduce mpg by 5-10 mpg.

I've got some altura cycling shorts that have really tight leg grippers. They rub and cause a rash, I find Bodyglide anti-blister&chafing stick helps and takes your mind off it. Can't help with stretching, other than find something thicker than your leg and leave it on overnight?

You just beat me to it mudshark. Can't see why anyones not more bothered by the £26k, you have got to be kidding me. The police can give me a little tap on the leg anytime for that sort of money! Also speaks volumes about her going to max clifford.

Surely, if people can't have faith in the ability of the system to protect them, then they will feel less willing to give evidence, or sit on a jury?

Very good point but a sad fact of life that has reached the courts. You only have to look at cases like Rhys Jones where everybody knew who killed him but the police couldn't do anything because of fear and intimidation. I know the person who killed him was eventually caught but would that have been so without the massive press coverage and resulting police resources put in to the case.
