I would thoroughly recommend going to the Medersa Ben Youssef, fantastic architecture and a very calming atmosphere.

The saadian tombs are similarly incredible architecturally, but can be little tricky to find (also they are closed on Fridays for prayers, as are most other places except the souks).

The tanneries are a tourist trap full of hustlers (I speak from experience) and are much smaller/harder to appreciate than those in Fes.

You HAVE to go into a Hammam at least once, I was out there for 2 weeks last year (travelling around the country) and wimped out of trying one until the second to last day. I have to say it was my biggest regret as despite not knowing a word of arabic I found it to be a wholly welcoming experience to simply walk into a local hammam and relax. The bit involving being exfoliated (violently) by a chap with a scrub glove is entirely optional, but I found mine to be great!

I’ll echo what others have said about going into the Atlas mountains, the pass roads are awe inspiring, and the views are quite brilliant, that said if you have booked into your Riad you may not be able to get too far in a day, but look into it.

Let me know if I can be any more help, but I thoroughly enjoyed the time I was there.

Evening chaps, have had a more local wood flooring fitter out tonight who reckons he can glue it for approx £1800 less! He still needs to finalise the quote, but based on some “top of the head” maths and our 30sqm area that’s his estimate.
    I am, therefore, much happier!

Will report when his quote comes in, and thanks for all the help so far,

    Cheers!

Grand, so our quote is rather steep!
In response to dd, no the floating cost does not include latexing, just laying a membrane underneath.
Interesting to here that there doesn’t seem to be any advantage/disadvantage between floating/glueing.

Am beginning to think that it may be more sensible to float it and save the cash tbh…

    dd,
The room sizes are approx 7m x 3.3m in the living room, and 3.3m x 3m in the hallway.
They adjoin through a standard witdth door.

There is a fireplace hearth and some boxing around the old range chimney in the living room to take out of this (approx 2sqm total) and some cutting to get around the bottom of the stairs (but the space UNDER the stairs will be left open and floored as it is not big enough to turn into a cupboard really.

Price for glueing also includes laying a latex layer first.

The floor in question is a bevelled one, not tongue and groove, but the manufacturers website suggests it can be floated.

And the clarify in my previous post, I meant many MORE pounds, not less (muppet)

Our floating floor cost 350 to install including fitting skirting boards and some cutting under doors and stairs. That was 10 foot by 22 living through the hall

Hmmmm, that is many MANY pounds less than we’re being quoted.
Where about’s in the country are you, sadly we are in the rip-off central that is the south east!

Cant recommend anywhere in particular, but try searching on the “Best of Suffolk” website for self catering places. Have used them before and the standard of the accommodation is very good.
Aldeburgh seems to be full of places to rent so may be a good place to start, Southwold is quite nice too with the bonus of the Adnams brewery around the corner…

God this sizing malarkey is a minefield isn’t it?!
I’m a medium in everything else I wear (gore, endura, altura etc), but appear to be a L on Santinis sizing chart, but then we’ve got people buying XL stuff when they’re normally M….??

    I was going to plum for a L in everything; 179cm tall, 82kg, 34″waist, 38″chest.
Why can’t there just be a “standard” size? (along with all the other standards!)

GorillaPods are fine but have a tendency to wobble around for a LONG time once touched, I had one (SLR variety, but not the metal one) and could never get sharp photos or decent long exposure shots, even the mirror seemed to set it off.
I still have it to mount my flash on, but have largely given up on it supporting my camera.
THAT SAID I was trying to support a crop-sensor DSLR with lens so maybe I was asking too much of it?…

Rather than lugging my fantastically sturdy (and damned heavy) manfrotto I picked up one of these before a trip to Morocco.

I have to say I’m rather impressed, you can remove the vertical collumn which makes the whole thing as steady as a rock, and it weighs less than a kilo and folds up to be ~30cm long so is very rucksack friendly.
It was also quite cheap for a carbon tripod!

It can’t cope with strong winds very well, but you can dangle some weight off of the carabiner underneath to help.

Its not perfect, but a heck of a lot cheaper than other carbon offerings I saw.

We’ve just exchanged on a 1947 brick house with a blocked up fireplace in the living/dining room. Need to remove the plasterboard from the front but would like to fit a woodburner.

Blimey! Poor chap didn’t stand a chance.
Horrible as the sound of the crash is, it’s his agonised moan from the ground
    that gets me.

    Bet he wasn’t wearing hi-viz.

This may be true, but you CAN hear his bell as the bars hit the deck.

    Similar to smeg above,

I do 1lb sloes to 1/2lb sugar with 70cl gin.
Make it all in cleaned 4pt milk containers on the windowsill (classy!)

I agree that some gins are better than others, but honestly I tend to use Aldi or Lidl variants just for the sake of cost.

As previously said freezing them is a good idea, which can make some of them split (saves on pricking) and I have never had a problem with sludge in the mix.
Turn them frequently for the first 1-2 weeks then leave well alone.
I strain mine through a pair of tights! I’ve found coffee filter paper is too fine to let that much through.

Seems to be a good Sloe crop this year locally (Suffolk) so will probably be doing another batch soonish.

    Good luck!!

Another softie owner here, had it years (about 10), abused it through Scouts, DoE, and long distance hikes. As above they’re well put together, and for the money, damn good value. However, they really don’t pack down too small, especially for the higher season bags. A work around is to buy a season less and a silk liner (which almost gets the season you’ve lost on the bag back).

The govt requirement is similar to a prescription from your own doctor for long term medication (think prescription anti-histamines etc) so unless the animal has been seen within 6 months, for a condition related to that for which the drugs are required, then they are not legally “under the care of a veterinary surgeon” and therefore cannot be given prescription medication.
At least that is my take on the situation!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, what would the situation be with hiring a car? I’ve driven in most European countries without dying, but what are the roads like in Morocco?
Also how easy is it to rock up to a hotel/hostel/b&b and get a room?

AFAIK you want to use the “medical grade” stuff. If it’s been pasteurised (which I think a lot of honey is to keep the EU happy) the beneficial proteins in it will be broken down by the heat.
Most pharmacies will sell it I think.

Hang on, web research suggests that the Grade reflects how active the honey is grade 16+ being the best. <9 is not much use. Anything which displays a New Zealand Mauka Honey logo isn’t pasteurised either.

Pretty much everything by Dire Straits

Nothing wrong with a bit of Straits! I was raised on that stuff and their songs still grace my “most played” list.
But for my personal confession, it’s got to be almost anything by Mr Collins or Genesis…
But I can’t for the life of me work out why they’re so unpopular!

Missus is a dietitian, so thought I’d test her knowledge!
She says that you can buy a form of belt called a “G-Tube Belt” which you can tuck the end of the PEG in to, preventing any irritation or movement.
They’re not available on the NHS, but she thinks Merck sell them under licence in the UK.
Alternatively, depending on why the tube is in, she says you should be able to request a button rather than a PEG as its affecting your quality of life.

She can’t be any more specific as she really only work with children, but hope that helps!

You need to know your neck and arm length sizes (inches or cm) but having got that sorted they have an abundance of shirts to choose from.

I don’t know where you are, but if possible pop into one of their stores where their staff have always been dead helpful to me.

Finally, dont be a mug and buy ANYTHING full price, they have sales every few months when you can get a whole load of shirts for next to nothing (although their perpetual 4for£100 offer is good value for the quality)
