I got called “selfish” by another bike rider for riding cheeky stuff in this area. The trail lowey shows further up isn’t too bad, quite techy, bit boggy in places on climb up. Not sure i’ve tried the Blisco one mind.

Last few orders I’ve had from them have turned up but took quite a while (2 weeks or more). When I did contact them the response times were a few days but they did get back in touch.

I’ve ran both in 27.5 a few years ago. I found the highroller slightly better rolling as the grid butcher is a softer compound (or it was). I’ve also tried it up front in grid 29 form but preferred the minion dhf.

The v2 one works in my Solaris Max but had same issue on the Flaremax it was just too tight so I had to run another post. I’ll grab a v2.1 one and give it a go again.

Has anyone bought the new v2.1 actuator, any real world experiences, better, worse, no different?

Sadly I only have the gold adjuster bit spare, I must have used the blue one at some point.

Tempted by doing the same with mine but have yet to fork out the £45 needed for the pair. I did accidentally bend the end of one of my levers giving it a bigger hook and it does feel slightly better.

I have a feeling I have one that I bought and never used, had to buy the full adjuster set as you can’t just buy one. Let me check when i’m home later today and i’ll post back with what I have.

If you can try to demo both bikes and see which one you prefer. I’ve owned both the Edit v1 and the previous generation Rocket and they were both good bikes, weight was pretty similar. Both companies were great to deal with too.

I’ll try park at the Cafe if that’s a safer place to park, plus it’s food for before & after. There’ll be nowt in the car to nick as such but saves the hassle. I’ll be driving down the M6 then onto the A65.

Might just use some sensible judgement on what to ride based on conditions and who else is about. I’d rather not annoy any locals when i’m just visiting. Is parking obvious?

@dangeourbrain cheers for the info. I’m happy riding cheeky in my local hills but do prefer to be more cautious when anywhere else just in case i’m upsetting locals and others who are trying to be positive role models for mtb’ers.

I find it a little harsh with 29er wheels too, so I often run mine in 27+, not tried running mixed wheel size yet but I have been tempted just because you can.

I really like my SolarisMax, chubby tyres add a bit comfort if that’s what you’re after (which I like) but with a 29 setup it’s really quick. If I was just riding smoother flow trails i’d set it up as a 29er but I really enjoy the chubby tyres for the rocks here in The Lakes.

I love my MT5’s which I got 2nd hand on here last year. I kind of agree about the lever length but got used to it after a few rides.

Lake District as it’s where I live, unless we pop over the border to bonny Scotland

Looking good, the orange works quite well with that colourway. What wheel size did you go for, really enjoying mine with 27+ though the 29er is flipping quick.

Friend has Sportive entry that may be going spare if that’s any good I can ask him?

Also own a Smuggler (might be selling it – stealth ad) and yeah it’s heavy though i’ve never weighed it to find out exactly how heavy. Rides ok for a heavy bike though, i’m sure they could have knocked the frame weight down a bit but Transition don’t make lightweight frames do they.

Saturday practice it is then, cheers. We got plenty of tech up in The Lakes so not fussed if it’s not an overly hard event either.

Practice would be a good idea

Didn’t think we’d be able to pre-ride course on Saturday if the full enduro race was on?

140mm travel up front here too with 20mm rise bars. If I was just going to run it as a 29er 130mm travel would be fine but the little extra when running the 27+ just gives a little more pedal clearance.

Too early to say for me just yet. 29 feels more precise and I think it rolls a little better too, but that could just be tyre choice and lighter wheels. Need to see how it performs in The Lakes on rock as that’s where I quite like the fatter tyres so far.

EDIT: Will probably try larger rear 29 tyre with less pressure too to get a little extra comfort that the fat tyres can provide.

Gloved riding or Gloveless? I like my Deathgrips but they are not the best for riding gloveless, I have the soft thin version too. They do get better as they age mind.

The new ODI’s are supposed to be good check out Wil’s review.

Just tried out the 29er wheels in mine for the first time as i’ve been on 27+ for 3 months or so, it was really good.

We were out there on Sunday and it was grim, quite a few ‘rivers’ running down trails. If you’re prepared to get wet & muddy though it’ll be fine.

Mabie is ace if you can find the off piste stuff, Ae off piste is good too if it’s not too wet or muddy. Pretty sure most of the 7 stanes have off piste stuff actually.

Which fork? Older Pikes probably not, Fox 34’s maybe.

It depends on what you want the +1 bike to do. SolarisMax with 29er wheels if you are wanting to do the miles. Bfe if you want smaller wheels with a hint of hooligan. Both are good.

Larger tyre almost at same diameter as a 29er

I’d say 2.8 tyres are more likely to be a similar diameter to a 27.5 wheel with 2.5 tyres.

I’ll add another vote for the SolarisMax, also running 2.8 on it and it’s pretty darned good, still to try it with 29er wheels.

Nordest Bardino possibly, they do a Ti & Steel option and a variety of sizes.

Much prefer my MT5’s to the Shimano brakes I have had in the past. I’ve just bled them with Shimano mineral oil as that’s what Epic Bleed sent me when I bought the bleed kit.

The one on Cyclestore looks like the older mens jacket (I have one in black). Also take a look in Go Outdoors they often have good deals on well known brands (RAB, Montane etc). I picked up an OEX (never heard of them either) for under £90 and it’s been great so far, not bike specific but hood fits over helmet and it has a slight dropped tail too (though less than MTB specific jackets).

Zee bottle cage as recommended by folk on here when I asked few week ago. Been mint so far, no bottles dropped. It can also be used with their SWAT tool that just bolts on to bottle cage. I use it with a battered Madison bottle I got free at a race, it’s only a 500ml one but it fits in nice & snug.

Wolftooth one also used on my transfer post and I much prefer it.
