Rode it a few week back after doing some of the natural stuff in the area, very impressed with what the volunteers have done with it, I like the tight top section over the smoother bottom section but welld one to all who helped build it, welcome addition to the area.

I managed to get out on two of the demo rides, rode the small and medium rocket, only problem is I have no idea which would be the better size for me. It was a great day and it was good to meet cy and paul and it was great to ride in the Peaks too will definately visit again

I’m not against paying to use facilities or for parking but when I go up on my own for a quick spin round the loop paying £4 or more is a bit much. When with a group it’s not so bad but still a but pricey compared to other places that i’ve been.

The excessive parking on the verges was becoming a little bit of an issue so I can see their reasons for doing what they have proposed. Although I always liked the wee layby just down from the centre that was free and could quite easily hold a few cars if sensibly parked.

I find their parking fees a little steep so if i’m going up on my own I will find a place to park to avoid them. I know of plenty.

prezet nowt wrong with doing the dh route on a hardtail especially a hard hitter like the bfe, been there quite a few times on a hardtail, damned good fun. It’s pretty smooth compared to some other dh tracks i’ve ridden

Yeah it is a 203, i’ll probably replace it with a 180mm next, 203 seems a bit overkill for me

Pretty much what I thought can’t really tell if the splines are gone on arm or not, it’s hard to tell, axle splines look ok still.

    Pictures would help.

Which bit is fouling the granny threads, the backplate of the device?

If shaved off you should have enough clearance to run a single ring ok, I have done so for before with a BB mounted chain device, stick some pics might help people see that exact issue.

    Which cranks too, slx, xt?

Just always like the look and idea of the smaller 4x style full suss frames. The prophet feels just fine to ride, but just isn’t quite as much fun as the ht.

I had thought that maybe the prophet is just not my kind of suss and a smaller 4″ play bike like the mythic rampant may be a better compromise

Yup I probably should have said it’ll need to be a 1.5 reducer (to 1.1/8)

It’s ok, I used to live there. Good access for most of the north lakes and scotland too. It’s not too rough and easy to stay out of any troubled areas (there aren’t really many).

Nope but I have seen them in the flesh, they look well nice and have a huge platform as well as not weighing too much either, def less weight than the v8’s or 12’s

Cheers. It would be mainly for myself that I would do it as I’m sure a lot would be learned.

That’s great cheers. It’s not an orange frame so decals shouldn’t be an issue I just wanted good quality and good colour.

When you go back in a week they will probably look at it again and decide whether to leave it to heal like it is or if real bad they will use some pins to realign it. Most people’s heal just fine, albeit with a lump.

Broke mine 8 weeks ago, it’s still healing, have a slight lump due to it overlapping slightly, but not as bad as some i’ve seen, I have 95% of movement back but still waiting for the new bone to fully harden.

Cool i'll look out for you then TonyL i'll be the one in the red honda riding a heavy white hardtail, once i've found out where to park.

Yeah they are got them as a warranty replacement on the older ones. So far they feel really nice, very plush too. Hopefully they will not have the same problems as the old ones.

I hope they are fit and forget as I have just received a pair through warranty for an older set. Feel damned nice so far, and windwave have been great with it all.

Cool. Well if you see someone messing about on the small dh tracks riding a white hardtail and green t-shirt come say hi, and maybe show me around a bit as I've only been the spot once. :)

I have 4 or 5 ball bearing and springs in there now but it still loses travel, may just need a new u-turn cap the old one could be a bit worn by now.

The forks are currently unused anyway due to very slight wear on one stanchions due to not cleaning the seals (ever) so until I get new seals and oil they sit in a cupboard waiting to be serviced.

Pretty nice, just make sure you service them more than i did and they should be just fine.

Only thing i don't like is how they wind down on their own if you're doing drops or jumps. Top of hill 140mm of travel, bottom of hill 100mm of travel. Not good.

Sweet i'll say hi if I spot you.

Anyone else who happens to be there say hi if you see me, i'll be on the white ns bike with the broken 55 forks

Before I hit this place up tomorrow afternoon are there any rules or do's and don'ts I should know of.

Do you recommend any particular bit for my first time there (the pump track really appeals to me) and what sort of tyres would you recommend, usually run highrollers but if woburn is anything like chicksands maybe the holyrollers would be nicer.

If anyone is free and fancies being a tour guide and that would be cool too.

    Opinions appreciated :)

I intend to go have a look at this place on the weekend or possibly even thursday eve after work, if anyone is around to join me.

well multimap reckon it'll take me about 15 mins, so I could be there earlier than half six, just look for a white bike and a red honda civic

chakaping – haven't got any lights and can only be out for about an hour tonight but thanks for the invite, once the sun stays around for longer some after work rides would be good though.

qwerty – would really appreciate some help with the area so if you're not free tonight, sometime next week after I finish work would be great

I'm working in Hertford so i'll be be coming in from that direction, if anyone has the postcode for the above suggested meet place or somewhere equally as good it gives me a base to start from.

I'll be there from about 6.30 onwards and will be riding a white hardtail bike, if anyone wants to join me (or guide)

Thank you Bimbler, since they were visible I figured it wasn't too cheeky asking on a forum, I know of a few secret trails and generally I wouldn't mention them, but as you say these are pretty visible.

Fine, fine, delete it whatever, i'll just go look and if good i'll ride, I was just trying to make sure I wouldn't be trespassing on private land, no need to get in a huff.

It just sort of started to seize up and get really stiff to turn then one day, crunch the whole thing just broke, so all I have is some broken internals and one very stuck 20mm axle with no way to unscrew the thing.

Hmmmmm so my choices seem to be between herts shore and woburn, i'll see what time I have spare etc because I will need to do some unpacking and genral moving of stuff also. Busy weekend me thinks :)

Just saw that front page article about Aston having a race this sunday, shame that but I can maybe try it out the weekend after instead, I guess Woburn or Chicksands it is unless there is anywhere else nearby.
