First turbo session in 6 months today.
Did a 20 minute test, Rubber Glove, and got a disappointing result. Looks like there’s plenty of work to do during the winter.

Just noticed on the Rose Bikes website that they’ve got the Garmin Vector 2’s on special for today only at £706 if anyone’s looking for a set.

Bumpy, I don’t think there is…been looking for this and/or a sync with Google calendar but nothing so far…

Looks like it’s going to be a lot of copying and pasting to do then!

Out of interest, do people prefer the 8 minute test or a 20 minute test before starting a plan?

Edit: How do people work the plan when it comes to shift work?
I need to swap some of the days around each week but still do the same weekly sessions. Should it be a problem?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to add TrainerRoad plans to the Training Peaks calendar?
I know that you can sync completed sessions but i’m thinking about using the ATP function in Training Peaks.

I’m planning on getting started with one of the base plans next week but I’m still really undecided about which one to go for.

I’ve got reasonable base fitness at the moment and will be racing in the Brass Monkeys series over the next couple of months in the 4h category.
My aim for next year is to try and get a couple of decent results in 12h solo races, probably 24:12 and another one later in the year.

Do you reckon I should be looking at the Traditional or Sweet Spot base plan? I’ll be doing the Mid-Volume 1 or 2 depending on which type of plan I go for.

One of the ways homeopathy works is by helping to balance your body’s energy, or chi as it’s called in traditional Chinese medicine. This energy is circulated through your body along specific meridians, and when this circulation gets disrupted — something you can test for using electrodermal screening — illness can result.

Homeopathic solutions themselves contain miniscule doses of plants, minerals, animal products or other compounds that cause symptoms similar to what you are already experiencing. The remedies have been diluted many times over, and the idea is that the substance will stimulate your body’s own healing powers.

In so doing, however, the treatment may evoke symptoms in your body.

Having just read this on the Dr Mercola website, I think it’s safe to say that his opinion on anything medical is pretty much worthless if he believes that homeopathy works!

I’ve just had the same letter through this week about the price rise.

We looked at getting Sky but it was expensive and I didn’t want to give any money to BSkyB!

BT Vision works out q fair bit cheaper than Virgin, about £20 a month less for the package we’re on, and if you use any of the cash back sites, they were also offering £150 cash back and a £50 Sainsbury voucher when you sign up.

    Are they selling them still?

My local branch have got one on display so I’m guessing that it’s still for sale.

    I’ve just renewed with M&S.
When I used the online quote thing it gave me a quote of £1100 or so. I called them to see if they could do a better deal and they added my bikes for an extra £80 a year.
Basically, ignore the online stuff and call them.

I’m sure I read somewhere that people are still getting bikes with cracked paint. I have read somewhere that Halfords had knocked money off a couple of people’s bikes to keep them happy.

Considering that it’s only cosmetic, I’m still planning on getting one in a couple of weeks when my voucher arrives.

These wheels won’t be running road tubeless at all, they’re going to be just for using with asst of knobbly tyres.
The wheels that were fitted on the bike originally will be used as road wheels with a set of normal tubed road tyres fitted.

Just spotted some wheels on Moonglu that look pretty good.

New model Hope Hubs with Stans Iron Cross rims for £350 including postage and yellow rim tape fitted. I think they might be the wheels for me :D

The Stans wheelset looks pretty tasty. I’ve seen them online for about £390 which is still a bit much for me.

This is bad, even with very little choice I can’t make my mind up!

The Iron Cross on Novatevh hubs look the most appealing at the moment. They seem to be a reasonable weight too.

I’ve been catching up on a few of the Sveness videos the past couple of weeks. CX seems to offer some pretty good race action and looking at some of the top boys, they’re properly fit and have skills to put most MTB’ers to shame!

There is a guy on ebay with some white Stans 355 on novatech which are a little heavier, but the 355 rim is a good choice for CX I think. £275 he wants, but I think cheaper if you buy direct from his wheelbuilding web site.

I’ve been looking at his stuff, he does the Novatech hubs with Iron Cross rims for about £275 as well.

Some decent all-round type CX tyres, preferably tubeless compatible that don’t weigh 4 tons and are 35c width.
    How difficult can it be?!

    Sorry for the thread hijack!

That’s what I’m going to be looking for next to go with the new wheels, I’ve currently got a set or Schwalbe Rapid Rob’s to be trying tubeless.

Strada are doing Iron Cross on Hope Evo 3’s (or Novotec)

Nice, but a bit out of my price range 8O

Thanks for the pointers so far guys.

Just to clarify, If I enter any CX races at all, it’s only going to be for a bit of a laugh, nothing serious.
The main part of the riding will be the 10-15 miles mainly on road into the Surrey Hills then some off-road riding round there.

Just don’t answer the door, do the same next time they try and deliver it. They’ll soon get sick of trying and send it back……possibly :D

Bumpy – good geometry for road. Same as road boardmans I think.
Bit heavy as it comes and the rims look too wide for normal road tyres.
    POSTED 7 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

So probably worth getting a second set of wheels with road tyres for the summer then.
I’ve tried a Boardman roadie in the past and it was pretty comfortable so that’s good news.

I quite like the look of these, the CX Team looks pretty good for the money from what I’ve read on a couple of forums.

Does anyone with one of them know how they are as road bikes?

It was called Closer To The Edge. I think it was on either ITV or ITV4.
