Used one of these in the past as it mounts in a qr mount. Plus you can rotate it to give an extra inch or two of wheelbase on your rack.

Happened to me a couple of times before in the past plus its sounds like my cleaning regime too, worst time was when out a fair way from home when the bolt fell out which then caused a surly stainless ring to basically fold in half under load resulting in a long scoot home, subsequently always carry a spare bolt and peg spanner for the back with me now and also check reasonably often too now.

Apparently for the 2011 season I’ll be driving a 760bhp Benetton B199 F1 car in the new BOSS GP series.

Last season I won the championship, with 7 pole positions & victory in half of the races. I also broke an unprecedented 5 Outright Lap Records on my way to the title, achievements that lead to nominations for numerous prestigious awards. Better year than I remember!!

Tried Marys and never found the shape quite right for me, however I’ve got both Titecs and Ragley Carnegies (another alternative) on my singlespeeds, if I had to choose I’d say I prefer the titecs for multiple positions and shape but the carnegies are good too.

Ended up with two as the green one snapped on the chainstays but now fixed.

Green one, geared in touring mode in Northern Spain.

Brown one, singlespeed, Titec Jones bars and always my first choice from the garage.

Just finished fitting an Ikea kitchen at home, easy online planner and dead easy to do, decent quality units (way better than our previous house MFI ones). Worked out cheapest option for us, loads cheaper than B&Q etc, spent the money we saved on decent extras such as proper oak worktops and travertine flooring. Taken a long time to do as it was a complete gutting job, ceiling, plastering, plumbing, gas work but well worth it now i’ve finished.

On my singles on current running KMCs in rainbow and white, never had any issues with either but had problems with std chains and PC1 before. Also bought from Charlie

You wont get lifts from the door but wouldn’t be a problem on any other days than race day as you could ride from your door every other day as the course runs directly behind the village and is about 1/4 mile up the road. If you’ve got other transport for transfer up to the start on race day.

Also best trail i rode there last year starts from Villard Reculas and goes right down to the valley floor, loads of switchbacks, deep leaf litter and not used a lot!

Sideways Tim, never made it to the Redditch International, but brother did and I’ve still got a pad floating about with the signatures on Leary etc. Also met and got jumped over by Stu Thomson for the local news on one of his first visits over here.

Brother raced for CW team as well as a semi-pro and did all the Kelloggs TV races too. Crashed in most as well…………..

Raced various places for 6 or so years in the early to mid eighties, however I was always crap though. Raced mainly Petersfield (local track), Gosport, Southampton (the one next to the old dunlop factory, its now west quay shopping centre), Bournemouth and Farnham.

Try Mnotes from Commontime as that should work with an Android no problem, we use it here as a full suite on older microsoft based phones but I’m not a great fan of it on them.

I’d definately be interested in an 1800 kit.

Mid 90’s Dawes 631 Edge, snapped at rear dropout while going over fallen tree on some singletrack.

Cheap Russian Built Coyote Ti frame, cracked at seat stay/top tube joint.

Then more recently cracked a Tomac Eli at Transwales, though never found cracks until home that was after ripping the splines off an XT crank 2 miles from the end of the last stage.

Finally snapped my Karate Monkey on the BB end of the BB at Dusk til Dawn.

Been using the odd riser ones on my KM for about 2 years now and love em, guess if your used to the original Jones versions you’ll be fine. I’ve also been experimenting with some Ragley Carnegies on my Rig at the moment too, they feel slightly different, bit wider but really comfortable.

My Irish setter goes out with us on the bikes and is fine with it but only where we can trust him not to disappear across a road etc.

Completely independantly minded dog, never just follows as just runs for the sake of running, loves the muddiest puddles to lie in, nightmare to train, mad as a box of frogs at times, but softest dog I’ve ever owned as he wants to be everybodys best friend and is completely non-agressive.

+1 for Raasay Rumble, epic event in an awesome location with mad weather

Bonty 24/12 since its been down at Plymouth

Sleepless at Trentham was always good too

Also loved Dusk til Dawn when they still let tandems in, still good but was more fun and more of a challenge on the tandem

Kielder Classic too in the early 90’s for the fact it was a combined enduro, trials, DH and race event in one

If your talking offroad on a tandem then put the more experienced rider on the front as a tandem can become a bit of a handful and can take a bit of upper body strength to muscle around in tight situations.

Tandem is good fun though, did 30 miles on ours yesterday but can be hard work.

Where are you based? If your down south your welcome to try mine out!

Got to say I'm with green here, we live in an area with more trails than most and thats before you start counting the cheeky ones. Also my favorite legit trail round here is at present has an covered with brambles, stingers and bracken then runs down a completely trashed gully with nice roots and drops for about 1/2 a mile, please dont come and attempt to clear the entrance, maintain it thinking your helping the community.

I'm going in 2 weeks for the marmotte and megavalanche but still looking forward to soloing 24/12 and Keilder 100 though.

I'll be there again, 3rd time soloing the 24 on a SS at Newnham, will be trying not to crash and knacker my ribs on lap 1 like last year. Can't wait however I just need to get Megavalanche over and done with first!

Six laps for me solo too but on the SS, should have been seven but stopped for a bit too long chatting and eating. However, I thought as Napalm said there was just no flow to the course and in places it was just brutal and an incredibly tacky surface, it got better the later it got but was never great.

My biggest problem with the course was not just the lack of marshalls and mud (after riding all winter it wasn't that bad) but the fact there was no warning signing on that stupid wheel sized ditch at the bottom of the flat out open descent, it eventually claimed a victim mid afternoon.

I loved the track and the conditions were as good as they going to ever get for an october race. I was racing pairs with a stonker of a cold but enjoyed it none the less apart from this minor problem with my rigid singlespeed on my 5th lap.

    Time for a replacement I guess then………..

Ap, we’d be up for a ride down south at some point in August. Surrey Hills, Swinley or can even do a South Downs one if you like.

I live about 5 miles away and have probably ridden the trail about twice in the last 10 years, personally I’ve never liked the trail and got to agree with gaz as I remember doing a race there in about 87 and its hardly changed since then.

I also always been of the opinion that its good for starters learning skills but more importantly its also very useful as it keeps all those people who go there off of my secret stash of trails!
