There's a couple of flat-ish stretches from Twyford to Binfield or Wokingham that are used as part of a 10k TT training route for local clubs.
    Or there's there's the A4 from Maidenhead-Reading…..

Had a similar issue a couple of years ago with our extension – the original architect quoted a ridiculous sum of money for the regs which I refused to pay.

The builders we had in were happy to quote for the work based on the planning drawings, stating assumptions/ caveats, and then we got the regs done just as the groundwork started.

Builder had come on recommendation and had done a lot of local work which helped.

Pretty good. Out last night and there's the odd wet patch but apart from that its dry and dusty.

I've been told that it gets better when they're a bit more self-sufficient (ours are 4 and 1), but then you end up just ferrying them around different activities instead…

Changed jobs about 8mths ago which has enabled me to commute by bike which has made a massive difference as I'm no longer that bothered if I miss out at the weekend, plus its easier to extend the ride in or out to make it worthwhile.Prior to that it was early morning starts or late evenings often solo.

Perhaps there should be a stw dads (and mums) club for arranging early morning rides

Not sure if they're 'worth it' but still want one.

Problem is as soon as I talk myself into it, I start looking at all the other £500 do-it-all hardtails that make me question the extra £500 spend and I'm back to where I started…..without one.

I have the new Golf GT TDi and have owned three of the previous model. Fantastic cars, well built, nice to drive and pretty quick the newer model even more so. Economy is especially on the newer model, long drives in motorways is about 62mpg and if you take it steady you can see returns of 74mpg average day to day driving is about 58mpg

Really? I have a 2yr old GT170 and it struggles to get above 55mpg on the motorway. Possibly one of the worst cars I have had – no end of problems – both the cam shafts and head gasket replaced, plus the ridiculous situation with the DPF which needs re-charging every so often by driving at 55mph on a dual carriageway for 10mins.

Have always had my eye on one as well as something a bit different from the usual options. Started looking at the Argon but was told by a local dealer at the time that the FR was a better bet as it handled the longer forks, and therefore was more future-proofed with not much extra weight.

Currently enjoying the new lease of life on my Inbred SS now that I’ve put on a new set of Rebas and can’t work out whether the significantly extra £££s are worth it…not that there needs to be a rational excuse for a new frame.

Interested to hear views of others that have one.

Tick. Currently using a sleeve inside an old rucksack, but its not the comfiest.
Been looking at the Camelbak Daxio, which Leisure Lakes have for 20quid. Assuming you don’t need a bladder as well it looks ok – just not sure the space is there for shoes, shirt and trousers.

A helmet is never going to be some sort of guaranteed head insurance. But given the fact I have to share the roads with a certain drivers who look less favourably on pedal power its worth it imo.

And I haven’t worked out how to attach my light to my head without the aid of said helmet…

What I always find a bit bizarre is parents riding along who decide its important enough to put helmets on their kids, yet are happy enough not to wear one themselves.

Its me. I don’t bother wasting time waving to roadies.

Well I’m starting to think the car version is the only one that exists

Re-listen to lectures eh? Surely the answer is to swap lectures for bike, then listen back in the evening?
