Yup, mud and front mechs are always an issue for me hence liking the 1X option. Convenience and less maintenance as I see it.

I have a 150 reverb, seat tube length is 480mm, guessing that where the stealth hole is leaves me about 460mm(?), my post sits with about 25mm clear out of the tube. I have 34″inseam, Id like to have the post sit on the top of the seat tube as I think it would prevent some of the binding issues I have had in the past. (fixed with a beer can shim).

Does go on a bit though.

Ive done the backward manual to bush before now. I’d stopped pedalling though.

I lived in North Cornwall in the 80s and also experienced the Crackington Seal, safe to say seals live in the Crackington area!

surfing is nothing to admire from afar any longer, its a burned out cliche that whored its soul to the mass market way back.

Yup, I stopped surfing in the mid 90s as the magic was fading rapidly, I am amazed but not surprised by how its become.

I don’t think that we can ignore e-bikes any more than we can ignore steel hardtails.

Thanks for the reply Mark. Im certainly no expert of print and paper purchasing, I do do a lot on UX/basket conversion though. I hope the changes work out as its a neat feature.

We wenyt through the exact same process 3 months back. We ended up with a Tourneo Connect Titanium, about 13,500, 20k miles, 2 years warranty remaining.

I can fit 4 bikes and people inside, it is far more comfortable to drive and has amazing amounts of passenger space. We went for the 1.6d, I was expecting it to be sluggish but in fact it is not, the gearbox is 6 speed and sucks the power from the engine, 85 on the MWay is about 42 mpg. Around town and A roads, it drives superbly well.

On other areas, loads of storage, the radio is OK but not the greatest, good sound but no bluetooth is my biggest nag. there is a USB for audio though. The rear overhead storage bins are fantastic for storing spares, tubes, oil etc.

Just realised you are after the Custom which is the mahoosive one, sorry!- but, if you look at the Connect, for a family of 5 its fantastic 🙂

    Mark,

‘new Partner section of the website’, this is a neat idea but needs a lot of work. E.g. I like ION knee pads, and thought I might like other products from them; so I visited the partner section, clicked on ION, ignored the 1000 or so words on corporate gumpf, scrolled down and found some products, liked the look of the shorts, when I clicked on them to buy (I assumed), I was taken to a ‘complete the form for info page’. This is a bad UX, by modern standards unacceptable. Cant see how you make money from this as I didn’t buy. Had the shorts linked to a shopping cart somewhere??? I suppose its because ION don’t sell direct? Begs the question how does the partner page help raise money??

Surely you can buy the paper in the UK?

I reckon you can save print costs through a simple tender/RFP? Or even ask on here

Someone asked about demographics and asked for my best guess. No guessing needed. I have oodles of data that tells me who our readers are. You are 95% male, high spending, above average income earners in the ABC1 demographic category. The bell curve peaks at age 37.

Why do advertisers not like us then?

I reckon this is destined for an Aston Martin logo. I can just imagine this sat in a Mayfair Aston dealership & being bought along with a new car, just the job for Wimbledon Common.

I would like to see a bit more “fun” in the mag, and perhaps a reality check as to what the readership want. Maybe a reader survey?

    Exactly.

Mark, In your opinion, what is the demographic of a typical ST reader?

My LBS is pretty good for all things ‘consumable’. In fact excellent in fact, however, it is bloody expensive (read Std RRP).

Im sure its ever so wonderful. To me the chain doesn’t look like its on the chain ring for long enough. I cant help thinking as the chain/chainring wears, it will slip like ****.

Still, I think we should all be grateful that F1 genius is now helping us finance ever more expensive frames. I feel quite privileged, hopefully Lewis Hamilton will do a photo shoot of him standing next to one in Lycra for us to admire

I could add in an MTB vein, seeing an X metre gap jump as a long term objective based upon concern resulting from a failed attempt/injury/bike damage. Rather than immediately pedaling like **** and ‘devil may care’ing it/who cares about the bike and I want a new job anyway as my boss is an arsehole’

…and, involuntary grunting when bending over or getting up. Caring about what you write or read on an internet forum. And, not ‘getting’ social media

Edit, apologies ^, didnt see you’d added that already

Property in the Alps, various bikes, large garden for a bowl to skateboard in. ‘Oceanside’ houses in California, Cornwall, SW and SE France. Aside from life’s essentials, food, drink etc. much more than that I wouldn’t need.

Yup, but in respect of awarding a try or not, I think they have to answer the questions the ref asks. That’s said, if he said try yes or no, he could have said no because of the foul play. If it was to check grounding then that’s that I ‘think’

Reminds me of Sexton trying to yank Barretts head off. TMO spends so long trying to look for a grounding that they miss the fact its a clear pen try and maybe a yellow!

TMO can only answer the refs question, so if the ref dont ask.

On another note, why was Dan Cole on the pitch, is his propping really that good that he needn’t even try for the rest of the game

Ive got ION KPact, work incredibly well. Comfy and grip for an all day ride, you forget you are wearing them for the most part. Great padding, velcro etc.

I was reading about this, the only bit that scares me is the risk of my Pike not being set up spot on and thus getting the wrong coil as a result, any ideas?

I had a go on one at Blazing Saddles Cragg Park show room. It was definitely not what I expected, and it was a lot of fun. I am a typical grumpy old elitist cyclist, I despise hairy legged roadies, roadies that pedal off the block on every rise let alone climb, computer bike fitting etc. But I can see the logic for these bikes and they are fun, and that has to be what its about.

Ransos, its clear you dont like them. Mine has done thousands of miles racing on the road and track as well as leisure and training, its been great. Far greater than any Sella/lightweight Ti etc. Ive owned. Never owned a Charge Spoon as Ive not bought a saddle since 2005.

Not really. There is always a balance between performance, weight, durability and cost. Brooks saddles are uncomfortable, weigh more than a boat anchor, dissolve in the rain, and are eye-wateringly expensive.

Mine has outlasted every ‘modern’ saddle Ive ever owned, winter, summer and spring. Maybe the one you owned to compare was a cheap or not so knock off?
