Mine should arrive next week. How essential is it that I buy some Hope QRs? I suppose it depends on how much I would enjoy the wheels falling off.

Seriously though, how much of a problem are the On One QRs?

Attacks are all I’ve ever tried, had them for 2 years now and they do the job.

A mudguard won’t stop you getting wet through when riding in the rain

Yes, I just got an email telling me they were building my bike today but just realised they have no wheels so will have to wait until Monday. I appreciate the great communication from them and accept that they may have been a bit overwhelmed with the orders from the discount code and the current 4 for 3 offer.

But I also don’t really need the bike in any rush so maybe thats why i’m a bit more chilled about it.

Wow. They really must be tripe!

EDIT: Seriously though, if i was after a new bike right now i would be 29er curious for the first time

Firstly, I give this thread 15 mins.

Secondly, sorry to sound patronising but the only light that means go is green. I think you need to accept the fine and move on

Same here, ordered 2x 32T on gunmetal and just got the same email. Worth the wait though

I’ve just bought some of those Schwalbe tubes, but in 26″…

Bargain. Black out of stock and only go down to 32T but I bought 2 in gunmetal. Cheers

    Band of Brothers.

Or if I’m short on time, Alien, 28 Days Later or Anchorman

The floaters work out about a kilo heavier than the Vee8 that it’ll be coming with. Maybe spending money to shed some weight helps justify the expense of the Surlys…

I got the email about the carbon forks this afternoon, i was completely 50/50 and undecided about my decision to go white so was quite happy to have On One make my mind up for me.

I can’t wait to get out on it now. I want with the Vee8 tyres just because i wanted black but i’m expecting them to be utter carp. I’ve ordered some Schwalbe freeride tubes and will plan on drilling the rims in the future but i just can’t bring myself to pend upwards of £100 on tyres just yet.

Are the Floaters for £30 worth a go for riding on muddy, wet root trails around Haldon and the Quantocks?

Otherwise it’ll be Maxxis Mammoth, Specialised Ground Control or Surly Nate for big bucks when i can bring myself to get my wallet out again.

I enjoy my rigid 26″ Inbred a lot, but maybe it’s time to swap it for something different. Hmmm

    I don’t need a fat bike. I don’t need a fat bike. Do I need a fat bike?

I honestly can’t tell the difference to them and the standard ones without the cage. Thats with my Shimano storm trooper shoes, others may find a difference with other shoes but I personally wouldn’t bother buying them again

How long have you all had your HD package? I had the HD package with F1 a couple years ago, then went to Virgin for a year, and then when I resubscribed with Sky in April 2014 I had to get the sports package for the F1. I did make several calls about it and got told it was no longer included in the HD package every time.

Full sports package. The HD thing was only a promotional thing for the first year to get people into it.

Yeah, about £82 + postage and set up the wrong way round, looks like its just going to be Merlin through Quidco

I’ve never used the workshop but the sales and service at Ralph Colman has never disappointed me.

2014 Paddy Wagon £454 at Wiggle, that price could be the decider.

Although I am waiting to hear back from Cotic to see if they will spec a drop bar single speed Road Rat. It would be a fair bit more expensive than the Kona or Genesis but a lot more versatile for any future ideas…hmm

I’m not so sure I need a 53cm, if I was going to order blind I was going to chance the 56cm. My CdF is a 54cm

@simondbarne, I’m so sorry, i really want the Flyer but I just really can’t get along with the 2015 colours.

My next problem is the Paddy Wagon sizing. At 175cm (5ft9) i appear to be slap back between a 53cm and a 56cm. I’m unable to see one in the flesh as the nearest dealer is too far away. Hmmm…

    Bucko

I’m more undecided than ever now. I wish there was some way I could see them both side by side but there aren’t any Kona dealers around my way that I’m aware of so the Paddy Wagon would be off the internet

Isn’t the normal complaint about the Kona that it’s really heavy?

    Bucko

Talking about frame angles goes way over my head.

Are you saying the Kona is more ‘racey’?

Cheers for the offer of the CC Del but I think I just need to keep an eye open for something like a Langster or a Paddy Wagon.

I was up Haldon on the weekend with Mrs Bucko for the first time since the February storms. I was taken back by the changes and hard work that the storms caused.

If I’m free for a Thursday volunteer day, do I need to bring any tools? Do you take a bike? Anything else I need to consider?

Are Charge Plugs up to much or are they more of an ‘Urban’ bike. 2014 Plug 2 can be had for about £350

They all look like pretty good options, I’ll have to start keeping an eye on the classifieds. Does nobody think much of the Pompino then?

    Bucko

@Muke, I’m assuming your Langster isn’t this years model? They seem to have changed a bit and look more like a track bike now. Yours looks more like what I’m after.

I appreciate all the suggestions, so far, I can’t believe I forgot about the Day One. I’d really like to keep it under £500 though.

Isn’t that more of a fixie track bike with no brakes?

I had it a couple years ago, ended up in hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics with my arm raised in a sling/support because it got infected.

It took me a good 6 weeks to feel like i could use full strength in my arm again, maybe another 2-3 weeks before i was happy mountain biking. And as others have already said, my elbow took months to feel ‘right’ again, still being sensitive to knocks and over use.

I have an Inbred 26er set up SS and rigid. I love it.

    I have a Soul 26er set up 1×10 with 140mm. I love it.

The Soul is lovely but if I was short of cash I would be very happy with a well specced Inbred as my only bike.

I hope that helps. It probably doesn’t though.

I seas about to start a thread asking the same question for a trip in November, but by the looks of the American and the Park I think my budget is a lot less than the average STWer!

I know it’s a hijack but if anyone wants to recommend a central hotel for under £100 a night for me and Mrs Bucko near the canals, cafes, bars and restaurants then go ahead
