Had a reverb for over 3 years, faultless. Replaced it with a Fox DOSS…broke on its first outing. The Fox is also very clunky and I missed the infinite adjustment of the reverb. Not tried either of the others you mention

Love my mk3, 1×10, 140 forks. It does everything from all day rids across Dartmoor and the Quantocks, to steep Triscombe techy stuff and days at BPW. I don’t regret selling my Zesty at all

I’m hoping the Fox DOSS that arrived in the post yesterday proves to be reliable. My Reverb lasted nearly 4 years with no servicing so I can’t complain but i fancied trying something new this time

On One Parkwood owners seem to be pretty happy don’t they?

How big are the 2.4 compared to the 2.3?

Does anyone else find that the straps of the Gourdon rub on either side of your neck? Or am I doing something wrong? I have the 20 and the 25 both in hiviz and can’t fault them other than the neck rub if I don’t wear something with high collars

@wanmankylung, it’s because those people are on a scoop stretcher and they simply fit better that way up

Ask Cotic, they’re really helpful and will make sure you get the right size

I went through a brand new set of SS Kevlar in one wet day at BPW, literally down to the metal on the front. They are great in the dry though. I’ve just ordered a couple sets of SS sintered to get me through the winter, I hope they’re up to the job

I should’ve mentioned that I’ll have the car and I won’t be taking the bike. I’ve ridden Ashton/Leigh woods before. We’re heading somewhere for a bit of shopping and a meal afterwards

Ah, so it’s not really accessed directly off of Great Bear. I know exactly where it is now, cheers guys

I recently used the online chat thing to unlock an iPhone 5 and it was done straight away. Been with O2 for years and never had any problems.

toys, I recognise your username from local threads, do I know you? I used to live in Exeter and ride Haldon and East Dartmoor a lot on a Lapierre Zesty or a red SS Inbred

I work shifts and get out on the hills all the time. I’d never claim to know all the trials but I have a good enough knowledge after riding there for the last 12 months. I’d be happy to show anyone around if they wanted but i’d struggle tomorrow after riding every day for the last week

There’s a trail that crosses the Chimney half way down, on the corner just after the rocky bit. It got pretty cut up during the event but its dried up now. Its pretty hard to describe where the Great Woods trail starts, but it finishes down a steep embankment exactly opposite the gate for the scout camp

I have no idea if i can give you a GPX route for my Strava ride today from my iPhone.

    https://www.strava.com/activities/332612415/export_gpx

I tend to park at Lydeard Hill, do a few of the Triscombe runs, then head over t Sharks link, then the Chimney and then maybe ride up past the scout camp and do the Great Woods DH used on the recent UKGE. From the scout camp you can also ride up to Crowcombe Park Gate and then do Frog Combe or Somerton Combe down to Holford before climbing back up and heading back along the drove to Lydeard Hill

Would be good to get out for a spin again Del, I’m hoping to catch up with Luke on a thurs or fri in a couple weeks so maybe we could sort something out. My no. is in my profile if you want it.

I’ll check cafe side out a bit more next time, I only passed through quickly the other day.

Carl, Triscombe is amazing and I get out on the hills twice a week, i’m finding new trails all the time and my Soul with 140 forks is absolutely loving it.

And whats the deal with Cafe side? I went through on my way to St Andrews lane last week expecting to find Tea Pot but was met by a gnar fest?

Good news Del, I loved it so much last week that I’m heading down again with some mates this week. Ring Ring is better than ever

Does anyone know if the planned felling and trail closures this week will close much of the off piste?

None at all, all working fine. And my SLX brakes are so much better than the Fomula RX that they replaced

Me and Mrs Bucko are also first timers, going for the friday, saturday and sunday with general admission tickets. We’re camping and really looking forward to it.

Really need to get a portable radio but not expecting to need ear plugs since the change to turbo engines

    About 26lbs.

Medium mk3, reverb, fox float 140, hope pro/arch ex, specialised 2.3 tyres, 1×10 XT, SLX brakes, charge spoon, alloy Wiser bars. So nothing special

You’re selling a bike that you haven’t gelled with and then started looking at bikes you can’t test ride?

I was considering a new bike a few months ago and would’ve driven the 150 miles to test ride a Bird but I had such mixed thoughts about the bargain yet gamble of a Canyon/Rose/YT etc

5mm hex on the back on my 2014 bike. It’s pretty obvious though so I can only assume yours are different

You want someone on a bike forum to go against your GPs advice so that you can ride your bike?

I love mine on 140 Fox Floats, don’t find it wanders at all on the climbs, I don’t even bother with lock out. I have got the stem ‘slammed’ though which might help a bit.

I’m the only one left on a hardtail, my Soul is awesome and I’m never left behind so won’t be changing for a long time.
