It shipped on Tuesday. Apart from the bleed kit, is there any reason why the black collar could be better? Are we thinking that the silver is a 2011 model?

I’m not going to return it and order the same as honourablegeorge unless it’s worth it

@honourablegeorge, that website is completely different from the one I ordered from, looks like i may have messed up as this site definitely has a silver collar and states no bleed kit for the same price of 209€. Gutted

I also ordered one on Monday, I’m expecting a 2012 with silver collar and no bleed kit. I got the email today to say it has been dispatched, no idea when it will arrive though

    All sorted, thanks guys.

I just let some fluid out of the bleed screw on the lever at the same time as i pushed the piston back. Thanks oldnick.

I think it’s out of order to post ‘it’s £5 cheaper at CRC’ on someone’s advert if you have no intention of buying it. Isn’t that what haggling and ‘or near offer (ono)’ are for?

If I wanted £50 for something I may advertise it for £55 knowing full well that someone will offer below the asking price. Not trying to rip anyone off, just playing the game.

Nasty, I hope you’re back on the bike soon.

+1 for the hospital being responsible for your kit. The ambulance would’ve gone straight to another 999 call, the last thing they need is previous patients coat/bag/glasses/shoes/pram getting in the way

Thanks guys, I think I’ll give the back of the pads a sand down tomorrow. If that doesn’t work then I’ll have to get a bleed kit and let some fluid out.

    Cheers

661 Raji, pull on and a great summer glove.

And the 2011 gloves are £10 at CRC right now

The weather does look awful on Monday, good job I’m working all weekend. I’ll be out as much as possible next week though if anyone has a day off

I was undecided between a Zesty 314 for £2300 and a Five Pro for £2800, the Five being out of my budget ended up being the deciding factor for me.

12 months later I am still loving my Zesty and i certainly don’t regret keeping within my budget.

May really isn’t very far away

Dartmoor Sunday, Dartmoor again on foot on Monday, 3 laps of Verderers at FOD today, mostly under tree cover but still proper hot and great to be out.

Back to work for the next 2 days but I’m hoping the weather holds out for another ride on Dartmoor on Friday, then whatever the weekend brings.

    What an amazing week

Cheers guys, I was obviously worried about TREE felling, not FREE felling.

Looking forward to it, not ridden on Dartmoor for a few months. Bring on the summer!

What is the parking situation, can we actually park at the NP HQ?

DHF on the front and DHR on the rear, both 2.35 60a Maxpro single ply. Works great for me, seem to roll great and the grip is amazing

Afan isn’t much further than Cwmcarn, neither is the FoD, especially when you don’t pay for fuel ;)

I really want to get to Brechfa this year but that’s a bit of a drive for a days riding.

The Quantocks are great but as already said, a guide is essential to get the best out of it.

I’m planning in digging my bike out again soon, I’ve not ridden over the last few months for various reasons.

I’m up for a group ride.

I used to ride there a lot with my springer spaniel but I haven’t been there for about 6 months as i’ve moved to Dawlish. It would be good to learn the trails as i always used to get the feeling i was missing out on something when i was exploring by myself

Gutted mate, maybe me moving away from Exeter was a good idea after all these thefts over the last year of so. Good luck finding it, and the others

@Del, I’m so sorry if you guys waited for me but to cut a long story short I got far too drunk last night and woke up 30 miles from home

I just got Sky Unlimited, £10p/m and free for the first 6 months. Works out at £5 a month for 12 months, nice.

I’ve no idea what the geeks are talking about with ASL and LOL though ^^^

@foxyrider, i think i’d fall asleep through boredom after about 10 miles, or collapse in a sweaty heap if i lasted much longer.

Let me know if you’ve ever after some company on a proper bike ride though

It’s not worth it, in my experience there is no such thing as ‘no strings’. I’ve had similar advice before, ignored it, regretted it.

    150mm? Mid travel trail bike?

Anyway, i’ve no experience of the 2 bikes you’ve mentioned but i’d recommend a Lapierre Zesty 314 for about £2.3k, although it’s only 140mm of travel.

You might even be able to get a 2011 model for about £1.8k if there’s any left

Last time i had a thickshale i left it after my mate told me horror stories about what’s in them.

Other than that i normally only have a medium meal with no extras so find it easy to polish off.

Also, is it true that the only reason they put gherkin in the big macs is because without it they would have to classify it as a dessert?

No I bought it from welovemountains online and had it fitted at my LBS. £10 is their standard minimum labour charge

    Bucko

What did you replace it with last time?

I’ve just fitted a steel FSA, they’re £30 at welovemountains and apparently better than the standard Shimano

I ended up just paying my local bike shop a tenner to remove and fit my new BB on my Zesty as the cost of the tools for the job worked out at about £50 when i looked

I think it’s great to see Exeter on the list. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Quantocks are all amazing places to be within an hours(ish) drive from.
