    Cheers for the replies guys.

@JoeyJ A friend of mind recommended looking on ebuyer too but as I have said I don’t know enough about laptops to know a bargain from a ripoff.

@joolsburger Thanks for the links but they don’t work. Mrs Bucko has a Dell and loves it but it cost about £550 which is way more than I want to spend.

I really know nothing, for example how do I know if a ‘Intel Core i3 2310M’ is better than a ‘Dual Core AMD E2-300M’. Does it even matter? Is it just a series of letters and numbers trying to confuse me?

I don’t know why I’m getting so worked up about something so simple.

I think that might be what it comes down to, a walk into PC World with a set budget. Cheers

My 2.35 wire bead Minion is quite a bit smaller than my 2.25 Kevlar Advantage

I went from 680 to 720 and noticed the difference straight away, much prefer it. I’m quite a thin chap, and only about 5ft 9. I’m assuming people who go up to 750 are a lot bigger or broader than me.

If you’re using lock on grips then why not play around a little and see if you can get an idea how wide you want to go? And remember, you can always cut the new bars down if you go too wide

I have the KOM for the mile of road leading away from Haldon trail centre carpark because I forgot to finish the ride before driving away. I loves it I do

Sonofapitch – I have no idea how the 2011 and the 2012 bikes compare so I’m afraid I’m not much help.

Meribelmtb – Yes. I have a right reverb mounted upside down on the left. The cable runs down the downtube in place of the old front shifter cable but misses he bottom X bracket and then goes up the seat tube. It’s a perfect fit for me on my medium with no hose cutting or bleeding required. I’m 5ft 9 (175cm)

Foxyrider – Hello mate, it has been a long time. I noticed your JOGLE for community first responders in the local paper, nice one!

Which cable? I don’t seem to have any problem with cable rub on my 2011. I’ve converted to 1×10 and run a Reverb through the guides instead

My winter bike! I bought a SS Inbred with carbon forks back in April as I decided I’d like a winter bike next year but it’s pretty much been my go-to bike since. It’s pretty crap but I’m enjoying it

Great thread but none of these films are on LoveFilm on the xbox.

Also, Cargo is a great film but I’m pretty sure it’s Swiss

I got mine from http://www.skidrive.co.uk/ a couple years ago. They were the best deal at the time and delivery was quick

I need a new job by the sounds of it. I work 12 hour shifts and only get a couple short breaks depending on how busy it is.

No lunch break riding for me at all

Doug after his first ever swim, about 2 years ago

He also sleeps in strange positions like the springers above, he likes to have his head hanging off the sofa. He is quite a muppet

    He’s also pretty awesome

It really is great up there at the moment, todays ride around the Cleave was dry and dusty.

Damn it was hot today! There was no wind at all. A much better day for the beach I reckon

Yunki, i can count the amount of times i’ve been out over the last couple months on 1 hand. I’m sure i’ll be overly familiar with pushing by the end of the week.

Sambob, i didn’t realise you were still down. I’m more than happy to meet up on tuesday, i’m not sure what Dave has shown you already but it’s all good anyway.

Did you get out in the end?

I’m making the most of the weather this week and may be up there monday tuesday and wednesday if i’m lucky

I’d buy my Zesty again for £2.5k and spend the rest on a weekend with Jedi and then a week or 3 in the Alps.

I think it’s all relative. I could never imagine spending more than £4.5k on a car but plenty of other people obviously spend a lot more than that.

Seriously though, I cannot ever imagine spending that much on a bike, even if I won the lottery tomorrow.

So much to choose from on their website,

    Whyte 146S
    Mondraker Foxy R
    Trek Remedy
    Norco Sight 2
    Santa Cruz Butcher or Heckler
    Spesh Stumpy
    Lapierre Zesty

Have fun and don’t get too hung up on the spec, it’s more important to have a bike you enjoy.

I’ll take it out tomorrow, I seem to remember there were some numbers written on the main shell when i took it out to inspect it a few weeks ago, it will all become clear I’m sure

Number 4 was split and leaking on my Fiesta

    Bucko

To the best of my knowledge they are hydraulic. My Fiesta had a similar problem, turned out to be a leaking fixing to the slave cylinder. All it took was a replacement (modified, so obviously a recognised fault) pipe and a quick bleed and it was sorted.

If it was my £750 then I would be buying the Piglet for £799 and living off beans on toast for a while.

But if the budget really is that strict then I find it hard to imagine buying anything other than the Duster for £709, especially when they only have it in your size.

I’ve never liked 3rd person, and as much as I hate to admit it I do spend a lot of my winter each year playing the latest COD online.

    So COD for me.

None of my friends play GOW

I’ve had to resort to one of these since I got a Reverb. It’s nowhere near as effective as the crud guard on my winter (July) hack but it’s better than nothing

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I’ll just go wherever takes my fancy in the morning, at least now I know it’s all passable and not under a foot of water.

Hi Carl, very long time no see!

I’m expecting to be up the cleave as I imagine it drains quite well once you’re up above the river. Do you still get out up that way in the evenings much?

I also presume you’ve not only driven an F1 car but have battled wheel to wheel with either Alo or Hamilton as your qualification for commenting on an F1 thread

No but I did just speak to Perez before he made those comments to the media, he appreciated my advice 8)

    Hamilton fan I assume Bucko?

Not just Hamilton, he also wiped Grojean out at Austrailia and now Perez. I’m sure there is more but I can’t think right now.

Am I the only person who cringes every time someone goes wheel to wheel with him?

I just use a hosepipe and maybe a brush if it’s really dirty. I didn’t realise everyone used cleaning products and chemicals. Maybe that’s why my bike hasn’t been showroom shiny since the day I bought it…

Maldonado is such a tw*t. How many more drivers races is he going to ruin before anyone does anything about him?

SlimJim, why did you feel the need to open a thread and post on something you have no interest in?

As much as i don’t like to admit it I think Alonso has this one in the bag.

I don’t think that matters though, this season has been great for the battles just for points so there will be great racing right through the pack.

I hope there is a shower or 2 to spice things up even more

There was talk of a forum ride around Woodbury a while back. I walk my dog there all the time but wouldn’t really know where to start with linking a good bike ride up.

It was pretty dry up there today though, much drier than Haldon

Its sunny in Devon today, but the trails are still 6 inches deep in mud so it doesn’t really matter. Wettest April since records began and now one of the wettest Junes since records began.

July and August would have to be Sahara like conditions to dry the trails out in my area.

Stud extractors are cheap and quite easy to use, you just need a drill.

I’ve got Privateer issue 2 in almost perfect condition, about to go on ebay unless anyone here wants to take it off my hands?

Definitely worth the £9, you have to hold one to feel the weight and the quality of the paper to get an idea, then the standard of photography and lack of adverts seals the deal. I can’t believe that people pay nearly a fiver for mags such as MBUK and MBR just to flick through page after page of adverts and repeat articles from 12 months ago
