The number of replies in this thread that seem to indicate that people think that others object to the video because it’s got ladies not wearing many clothes in it is staggering.

If you want to have a bit if a ride around Littleborough/Hollingworth Lake/Blackstone Edge as has been mentioned I’ll be happy to show you around a bit. Email in profile, just don’t expect a fast ride!

Just checking in to make sure that there will now be an outrage about the new This is Peaty’ video featuring product placement and getting a post of it’s own on the front page?

Don’t forget the X-Fusion Hilo, hydraulic post with mechanical ‘actuation’ (switch-y bit). Just changed to one from a T-mars and I’m a big fan so far.

Edit – Beaten to it. Robware, check the air pressure, mine was the same at first but didn’t have much air in as standard. I put ‘a bit extra’ (<5 psi) in to be on the safe side and it comes up like a good’un now.

Sorry, but that’s argument is nonsense. To suggest that someone has to first produce a film/book/novelty nipple cover, to be able to criticise similar, is illogical.

That’s OK. My point (when taken in the context of the whole of my post) was more that it might be better to direct energy in a more positive direction than constant moaning about x and then still moaning when the opposite of x comes along. It was also that pulling what is essentially an advert up for highlighting his sponsors is frankly, ridiculous.

The part of my post you’ve quoted doesn’t make that clear, but that’s why I wrote all that other stuff at the same time, thanks for letting me type it all again in a slightly different order.

The freeloading accusations are gathering pace, aren’t they?

Can’t help feeling they come from a place of envy and hypocrisy. How many people, in the same position of working hard to establish a business and reputation in a niche, limited market and being sent a bit of swag in return for making a promo, wouldn’t do it. Ed’s then gone to the trouble of at least making something a bit different and lighthearted rather than the po-faced “sick edits” that so many people here moan about and still people are bitching!

Haterz gon hate, but get off your arse and do better if you think you can, don’t just moan on the Internet.

Anyone else come across ‘Bulletproof Coffee’ ?

Yep, seems to be the next big thing. It is, perhaps predictably a potentially sound theory taken to a ridiculous degree in order to make you buy his product in large quantities. There are plenty of sites debunking but this is pretty succinct:

    Usually one of these –

    Mountain Bike:

“This is **** brilliant!” or “How am I not at the top yet?”

    Road Bike commuting:

“Which of these drivers is thinking up a new and imaginative way to kill me and what will that involve?” or “But it was a headwind on the way in, how can it be on the way home as well”

    Road Bike training/lanes:

“Keep going” or “I wonder where that road goes”

    Nice write up!

Been twice to the Isle of Man but not with MTB, I’ve spied some great looking spots but 100 miles on that terrain is madness to me.

Tip of the hat to you, sir!

The buzz from Comic Con is very positive, apparently the film is essentially one long chase (again) and the scale of some of the set pieces is a lot larger.

It’s been on my radar for a while, Miller is being given the time (principal photography finished about two years ago) and money to do what he wants.

I thunked A4 v Foolscap referred to the width of the hanger, not the depth of da hang.

It’s both, Foolscap is larger all round than A4, hence foolscap is both wider in the spacing and deeper in the hang.

You have an A4 filing drawer and foolscap suspension files, you need the (more expensive  ) A4 suspension files.

Also want to put on record that I’m making the most of the ongoing good weather, less of this past tense malarkey.

Sun’s out here again today and I’ll be out this evening. Good times!

Took a couple of days off last week, so had a four day weekend here.

Spent a couple of days in the next valley doing routes out of Benji Haworth’s guide book. Likes a climb that Benji…

there may be rail replacement buses from Darlington. The buses will not take the bike.

This was the case when I checked trains from Manchester for the same weekend a while ago, I’d check nationalrail.co.uk instead of trainline.co.uk, much more useful IME.

I’ve ordered a new Solarstorm off eBay yesterday, they now come with an “uprated” (8800 mah off the top of my head) battery in a silicone waterproof case, just as an FYI.

The seller was also making a fuss in the listing as to how to identify a genuine Solarstorm light, so I think awareness is growing and it’s easier to spot the decent ones now. This will be my third one and I’m yet to have a problem of any sort.

That is a very cool looking bike, paint it matt black and I imagine it’s what Mad Max would ride!

I’m trying to get me head round such things, does the gearbox/chain set up mean no chain growth?

Just discovered my big light is on the blink, so I’ll have to give this a miss. I AM trying to come to another, honest.

Par for the course on motorbikes, so I bought this with me when I started riding mountain bikes. I only need to do it in sintered pads though, organic not been a problem so far.

Possibly a minor point, but if you go for the hills around Shaw, Milnrow, Littleborough, Todmorden you needn’t touch motorway to get to Oldham and will skirt the upcoming works on the M62 if you get on at Milnrow (assuming travelling East) and can get on the M60 without using M62 (other directions).

I moved up here from East of Manchester at the start of the year and the scale of riding from my door stop is still not sinking in, really.

Favouriting this as I hope to build up a dynamo wheel for my Croix de Fer for this winter.

At the risk of a slight hijack, which light would people recommend to go with it for an on/off road commute with value and reliability again the emphasis?

That footage doesn’t look much better quality than the Veho, know which I’d rather have at the price! Shame as it’s a good ‘covert’ idea.

no way of contacting them at all either n the website or by e-mail

I tweeted them because of that. Noticed on the e-mail that they’re part of the Hut group. As coincidence would have it I was about to buy a helmet cam from that site but switched it to a different site at same price due to this. Small potatoes to them, no doubt, but there you go.

^^ That was one of my items as well, that and Adidas bibs. Got some Northwave shoes at 10% of the usual price so can’t complain too much. Still worth a small moan, though.

Oh dear, just had an e-mail to say that one of the four items I ordered has been cancelled as out of stock. They also said I haven’t been charged (not true) but then sent a refund for both items not yet delivered.

Slightly poor show, I can’t help but think.

looked the other way round to me

I was going from what the ITV commentary said at the time, obviously puts a different spin on it if it’s completely the opposite!

Veho Muvi cameras can be had for £30 quid online at the moment, they’re absolutely tiny. I’ve just ordered one to use as a helmet cam, should be discreet enough to use without attracting the ‘looking for trouble’ accusations (I’m not, honest). My commute has doubled in length recently and I sort of feel like it’s only a matter of time until I end up coming a cropper.

If it works alright I might get another to mount on seatpost looking backwards to cover all angles.

Don’t know Talansky very well, but him getting off the bike yesterday, clearly in distress, his DS telling him to abandon and then getting back on despite being so far behind already got an imaginary round of applause from me.

I just take a jar of jam on my rides.

Stop, smash hand into jam, smear over lips and face..yummy!

Both me and the wasps love it…

So that’s you carrying jam jars AND needles in your bag these days!

all those things invole staying in one place but being everywhere else.

That’s being on holiday, isn’t it? Or must we be bound to the parish we sleep in when traveling away now?

OP if you’re looking for a quiet get away it may not be the right place, it’s positioning itself more of a busy little town three days. That being said you can be away from it all on bike or foot very quickly and, as has been said, there’s a wide variety of stuff within short travel.

I’m currently on (more of) a weight loss drive (than usual) after stagnating and letting things slip from a successful period last year.

I’ve found that having a larger breakfast has helped BUT I’m having homemade granola so that I know exactly what’s gone into it and I’m having it after my cycle to work. I weighed out a decent portion once and then counted it out in spoonfuls, means I hit the right ballpark without it feeling like a punishment, the way weighing stuff out can do.

As far as snack attacks go, at home I don’t keep things in the house and if I get the urge I so something to distract myself, being busy in the evenings rather than hanging around not doing much also helps. At work I take in a homemade ‘healthier’ sweet treat as a mid-morning or afternoon snack. (Quinoa French today bake atm) but ultimately it comes down to willpower. Personally if I really behave for a week AND exercise more/harder I can see and tell a difference, which gives me a boost. Even if it’s just something small like my calf muscles getting a little bit pumped and defined.

Sorry for the long post, but I feel your pain!

It’s all part of racing, the course doesn’t get any easier because Froome and Contador aren’t on it. Wide open for the time being, should be interesting after the rest day.
