Are you stretching your calves enough beforehand?
    [/Captain Obvious]

Usual causes are over exertion, dehydration and low electrolytes. If you’re sorted on the last two it could just be that you need some leg/calf specific training/exercises.

Biggest battery saves on my s3 are turning the screen brightness down when indoors (done from the pull down to menu, so not a pain) and leaving it on power saving mode 99% of the time.

You don’t need the full power of the phone for the vast majority of tasks and the screen is more than bright enough on quarter brightness for most conditions. As above turning off anything you’re not using helps too, as does an app called Carat.

Get a day out of mine with ease, even if I rinse it.

Cane Creek HSS20130 is the bearing number

    This I have now learnt!

The frame is actually 2009 and according to Felt has a “fully integrated head tube” but for the life of me I cannot figure out how the current setup would work, I’m not convinced that all the components for the header are present.

I think a trip to the bike shop is in order as I’m desperate to get this build finished today!

    Thanks for the replies.

After a clean up and closer inspection the headset is a Cane Creek HSS20130 steel and is marked 36 x 45 1-18″ (which I believe is fine as I’m fitting a Rockshox Recon which isn’t tapered).

The frame is a Felt Virtue circa 2008 so I guess the one that came with it is the one to fit seeing as the traditional set won’t fit.

Now to figure out which parts go where!

I’m not of that age yet but knocking on 30 and still get all sorts of spots if left unchecked.

Years and years of experimenting have shown that the most important things for me are a good cream wash that I can use daily without drying my skin out, an exfoliating wash to use twice a week or so (usually when I shave) and moisturising with a non-oily balm. This seems counter intuitive but moisturised skin means you won’t produce as much oil/sebum.

    In short; cleanse, tone, moisturise.

Halfway between the two for me.

Silver frame with carbon black rear triangle means I can get away with either of these colours for big components (cranks, stem etc) and I’ve got a couple of red bits (grip collars, qr seat post clamp to come) to match decals on the frame.

Just got to decide what to do for pedals now, almost certainly will be black though.

That jump to endo landing is straight up insane.

Big fan of Robbie Madison, one off the ballsiest riders on the FMX scene and did all the stunt riding for Daniel Craig in Skyfall.

    ^^ This.

Do what you like but might be an issue with the brew, shouldn’t be so bitter that you can’t possibly drink it without sugar, espresso can be quite fruity/sweet if brewed spot on.

End of the day though, if it works for you it’s the right thing to do.

Used to commute regularly that way and that’s not even close to the stupidest thing I’ve seen happen there, from cyclists or drivers.

Between the new tram lines and road layout changes I’ve started going a different way, the tram lines have already claimed me once while I was on my road bike, dread to think what it will be like with trams in the mix.

You won’t like OUATIM, Django is good but you need to be in that ‘cult film’ mindset, don’t expect anything like Unchained, it’s basically a caper movie that takes about an hour to get started.

Mean Streets it’s good, not as good as Goodfellas etc. IMHO, North by Northwest is a stone cold classic and still stands up, Infernal Affairs is not as good as The Departed, for me. Ssaw it before the remake but the Scorcese film blows it out the water, haven’t seen Iron sky so can’t comment.

Not sure if this would be a scam or just incompetence.

If they did deliver two and you received both tell them to pick up the second one, they made the error so will be at their cost, although you may have to make yourself (or someone) available for collection.

If you didn’t receive two then they need to look into it with their carriers. If the carriers are claiming both were delivered to you then they need to prove this, you should be asking them to provide a delivery docket with your signature (one for each delivery, for comparison) as a start.

Mistakes do happen, don’t assume that they are trying to scam you, look at it as helping them solve their problem, in the first place.

Old Crafty Hen for me I think, Tesco doing 3 for a fiver!

Had a bottle of this from the aforementioned horse meat emporium last night and it’s a lovely drink. Not a big fan of speckled hen so it was a pleasant surprise.

    this was the Bristol branch

There we go, that’s what we needed.

So we’re all aware of the problem and location, I think we can mark this as sorted and call it a draw, no?

Standard, ‘I’m not a doctor’ disclaimer.

I get this when it’s particularly cold or if I’ve been off the bike for a while. In my case got told by a doctor (albeit a friend, didn’t make an appointment) that it’s basically because you use your lung capacity to a greater extent and this tends to cause coughing as a result of colder air and increased activity.

Also get thicker phlegm in those situations and again it’s basically the system being flushed out after a period of inactivity.

Your results may vary etc. etc.

My post on here is more a warning to those who may not be aware of issues and use Evan’s

That being the case we could really do with knowing which branch this was, as asked several times. As you’ve said we can’t tar all branches with the same brush so this whole thread is only useful if we know where this happened.

    Again, trying to be constructive.

This time I can’t be as constructive.

I am not one of these people that think reading a few books on a subject makes me qualified to perform certain tasks. If your arrogance thinks otherwise then so be it, that’s not my problem…..

Yeah, screw those people who seek out information and instruction and then attempt to apply or use it themselves. Arrogant idiots. [/sarcasm]

I’m going to try and be constructive (I know, I know).

The OP’s complaint is definitely legit, the bike shouldn’t have left the shop like that, lack of response from shop/head office is also poor, you’re right to feel aggrieved about that.

If you want to take something positive out of the situation (other than not getting deaded) I think there’s a couple of points to be taken away.

Firstly, escalate the complaint as soon as you went back to the shop, ask to speak to the manager there and then, make them aware of the situation and ask them what well be done, not in a “fire him now” way but a “how did this happen? What will be done to stop it happening again” way.

Secondly, use this as the spring board to start picking up a bit of knowledge regarding maintaining your own bike. There’s no piece of mind like that of doing the job yourself and knowing everything is in order.

Well the folding ones have been fine on any wheel I’ve owned.

Mine are beaded, which probably explains the difference. Thought I was being a n00b until I watched a shop mechanic struggle with one of those foot long tyre levers, felt better about doing it with plastic Decathlon levers then!

    Conti Gatorskins..

    +1

They’re absolutely bulletproof and wear really well (I’m heavy too) had mine on for getting on for 18 months now and have done c.12 miles commute 5 times a week, each week, c2c and training/leisure rides.

Effing hard to get on, mind.

Actually a ‘650b’ rim is 25mm (1″) bigger in diameter than a 26″ rim. So, assuming the same tyre cross sectional area, if 26″ is 26″, then 650b should be 27″ not 27.5″.
Incidentally this would make a 29″ wheel 28.5″…

    Stop it.

I think we’ll be alright for a good few years yet. The user base it’s so large that component manufacturers won’t abandon it.

Might not be cutting edge, but if that bothered you you’d already be on a 29er or 650b.

Incidentally ‘650b’ and not ‘27.5’ is really grating on me.

Did it last year on a road bike with standard (albeit Kevlar reinforced) tyres and did some of the off road parts.

For me you’d want something with road wheels or a 29er on skinnies, on road section far outweigh off road and there’s little gnar if you’re not doing Old Coach Road.

Was he forced out of the LCR team then or choose to leave to get the factory ride on higher pay ?

Not sure he had an offer from LCR for 2013, as far as I know he only had that offer when HRC dropped him after the third year in 2011.

I feel for the guy either way, don’t think he’s feeling too adored judging from the pics/results from the tests.

I know where you’re coming from Weeksy but he was forced out of Honda pretty unceremoniously, got the best results by far of any satellite bike and still ends up flogging the old pony.

I think he’s probably cursing Rossi out at the minute!

Interesting second day of testing last night. Same top four, Cal fifth, Bradley up by 1.5 seconds over yesterday and only just behind Bautista, Laverty quicker than four CRT vets.

    Poor old Dovi…

Can vouch for their sturdy-ness. Girlfriend has a Decathlon frame that came with those wheels that she happily used until upgrades came at Christmas.

Only slight issue she had was with it coming slightly out of true, but the roads round us are pot holed to a ridiculous extent and I was soon able to straighten them again.

Certainly fine for an emergency/make do for a bit wheel. I’d go so far as to say would be OK as a winter wheel.

    Getting back to 2013 for a moment…

I’m really excited for this season, I reckon there are going to be 6 or 7 podium contenders in each race, far better than the procession of 2/3 last season.

Think Dovi has made a mistake going to Ducati and by the pictures from today’s test I think he has realised that as well

I’ll be looking for whether Marquez can be consistently quick under race conditions, whether the ‘aliens’ will let him be without complaining to race direction, Cal picking up more podiums and maybe that elusive win (in the rain? Following crashes?), solid seasons from the other Brits and Bradl surprising a lot of people.

I’m about to build up a Felt Virtue frame that is brushed aluminium. I initially wondered about the same thing but that frame has a carbon rear triangle and I’ll be fitting a black fork, so I’m going with black seat post and bars.

Nowt wrong with silver as long as it matches the finish on the frame, though.

Always feel a bit left out with talk of LBS. If I take ‘L’ to stand for ‘Local’ then my LBS is Evans at Manchester Velodrome.

On the upside they’ve always been good with me, always have what I’m after and I don’t feel bad asking them to price match.

Always go when it’s quieter too, so don’t have to wade through crowds of kids/families/shop bores/people in general.

In Manchester u can ride round Philips Park has a red and blue trails that are ok

That’s Philips Park, Prestwich not Philips Park, Clayton by the way. Trails are being built in Clayton though.

Which end of Manchester are you? There are some bits and Bob’s around but really you need to put distance between you and the city centre for anything decent.

I try not to hate anything but I certainly don’t enjoy my job.

No challenge, not in an area that interests me, can’t really relate to a lot of my colleagues, who are older than me or ‘Eastenders and the pub’ types.

I hope to be retraining in September.

According to their Twitter feed a couple of days ago the snow is now gone, temp has gone up a bit round three parts this week, so I’d imagine back to mud/gloop as applicable.

I’m actually in Manc but imagine conditions will be similar there.

If you don’t want to be ostracised by the pennyfarthingists, never call it a penny farthing – it’s an “ordinary”…

    Ugh, that’s a real thing isn’t it?

I reckon it’s only a matter of time until I see someone on one of these in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.

Used to have one at home, now don’t but it’s the only cardio machine I bother with at the gym.

As ever, what you should do depends on what you achieve. Intervals/HIIT work well, that might be a good compliment to running/riding.

What I specifically like us that it feels like a better full body workout than running our riding, so I use it to almost ‘balance out’ all the leg biased stuff.
