Yes, it’s brilliant, highly recommended. Bit more to do/see in the surrounding area these days too.

I know, I know. In reality I’ll be recording BSB (lot of waffling to get through on Eurosport) and probably watching the highlights for Paris-Roubaix. GP will definitely be watched live though.

Nice to have everything back on and be spoilt for choice for a change though.

@ndthornton Almost certainly over tightening I would say, that or under greased but probably the former.

+1 for The Plaza, it’s a really great experience. Can’t say I’ve done much in Stockport other than that, so the only other advice I could give would be Manchester based.

How does it sit when it’s in ring 3 and position 3 on the shifter? If OK I think you need to have a play with the indexing on the shifter.

If not sitting well on the 3rd ring, sort out the limit screw first and then look at the indexing.

Dalby is clear according to Ed Oxley on Twitter, latest update from Gisburn is that the roads up are passable, lower loop is pretty much clear and upper loop snowy in a few places but doable with care.

He doesn’t need a Clyde bike, any reasonable quality hardtail will shrug his weight off. Speaking as a big’un myself, I rode an entry level bike for two years without any weight related issues and I was quite a bit heavier than your friend through that time.

Issues most likely to crop up with a square taper bb, cheap spokes/rims and possibly fork if it runs coils, but I’d let him have at it and fix problems if and when they come up.

Seems that way. From the listing, “The exact same post older version with the buyer’s own brand “FORCA”… is currently selling for almost £100 including the dust gaiter.
Also old model being sold under the brand “ICE LIFT V8” for £120…
    That was the old version,
this is the updated 2013 / 2014 model just released !”

    (Horrific grammar, punctuation their own!)

Sorry for the slight hijack but does Back Country Navigator let you import and follow gpx files? Have had a look at Viewranger but can only find options to create routes as I travel.

That picture worked in the preview but not in the actual post. I give up, sorry. Posting photos here is clearly beyond me! Stick ‘tmars 2013’ in eBay later on and you’ll see the difference.

The one being sold as ‘2013 model direct from manufacturer’ on eBay have a black box in place of the red adjuster, cable routes vertically down from there.

    Let’s see if this works:

Not saying this makes any difference but seems to signify it is a new model as everywhere else seems to have cable exit designed as per your pics.

Incidentally these are £85 delivered from the UK on eBay.

My understanding is that one is a 2012 or earlier model.2013 model is supposedly upgraded, main visual difference is that the cable exits the post vertically from a black box rather than horizontally from red noggin.

    I believe this Is a 2013 model.

Is it snowy up there at the moment? Could well be tempted.

Weirdly there’s none that I can set in my part off Manchester, yet everywhere rideable close by seems to have had a battering.

Probably could get out somewhere but really cba, even with a new build to do a first proper ride on. It’s times like this when not having riding buddies to drag me out is a real drawback.

Can’t vouch for that model but never had any issue with my 5.3, was the best value by miles when I bought it and pretty much bulletproof. Not the lightest but obviously not an issue in this case. Only issue I had on mine was breaking a couple of spokes but they were own brand on that bike, unite the one you are looking at.

Not mine, but my nephew has been off nursery with tonsilitis. When asked yesterday what he wanted to do instead he replied, “Can I pour some milk in a cup and listen to Judas Priest please?”

Turns out he’s developed a thing for pouring milk (not drinking it mind) and developed a mild obsession with the song Breaking the Law…

Felt Virtue might be worth a look, I’ve just built up a 2008 frame and it’s lovely and light and lively even with relatively low rent components on.

Newer ones are available in carbon, which might up the ‘niche’ quota if that’s really that important.

I would definitely bleed it first of all. Logically you’ve got something expanding in the lines and pushing back on the lever and pistons, that will either be air or contaminated mineral oil. I’d check your seals/bleed nipple is intact at the same time.

Tipping down with rain in Manc today, might influence the decision a bit.

North West? Isn’t Manchester in the middle?

Of the universe? Yes, yes it is.

I’m Manchester based as well, so feel free to look me up another time,I can normally do most weekends with enough notice. Really don’t underestimate how slow/fat/crap I am though!

Hebden should be OK as far as conditions go, tends to drain quite well in my (relatively limited) experience.

I would have joined you, but Saturday is no good for me, I’d have to work itout of a guide book and I’m way too slow to keep up with anyone training for gravity enduros!

Could you try somewhere like Hebden Bridge where the local bike shop/loads of people on here can give you a route?Calderdale in particular would be great training for a gravity enduro, it’s steep enough!

Bargain basement is definitely where this build is at. The whole thing has cost under £450, which I personally think is great value for the spec. It’s pretty amazing what you can pick up from the classifieds and online sales if you look hard enough.

    It’s fixed! Hurrah!

    It’s now snowing!FML!

Was an easy enough fix once I knew what I was doing, didn’t need a strap wrench, just a vice and a bit of grip strength. For reinstalling the air can it was made easy by putting the shock back on the bike and compressing it with body weight before screwing the can back on. [/teaching grandma to suck eggs]

I’m glad someone has picked up on something innocuous in the background, I was beginning to not feel like pay of the gang for a minute there.

The shock has indeed sucked all of the shaft into it (!) So I’m about to take it out and unscrew it.

Still hopeful of riding it in anger today.

    buck53

Bugger, hadn’t spotted that. Obvious now it’s pointed out.

The shock is standard as far as I’m aware. Could this just be because it’s not been ridden in some time? Bit of silicone spray and cycling the travel might sort it out? Or is it time for a game of ‘find the seized linkage’?

All good here, had both done by the council, they did drill holes all around the house, but filled them after and we painted over then, wouldn’t notice them unless you were really looking.
No condensation issues at all and house heats up quicker, stays much warmer than before.
