You will all be doubly aggrieved to know that the revival has already been and gone:

    My stock answer:

I’m sure that, as a company, you’re in a better position then I am to estimate what I’m worth to you, I’d be happy to discuss this at interview should I be selected.

As said above I think the main problem with them is where they’re being used by Sports Direct et al to employ people on fixed shifts (albeit only published week to week, but most of the time the staff will know what shift or rotation they are working well in advance) rather than their intended use.

I think there needs to be a regulation put whereby if the employee is employed on a zero hour contract and work a prescribed amount within, say, 12 weeks they are entitled to a regular contract with all the associated benefits that come with that.

My girlfriend is currently on an LT disc version of the original. If that new one is half as much of a hoot as that, they’ll be onto a winner.

Remember, this isn’t a gambling problem, as such. It’s an addiction problem. As others have said gambleaware is the first port of call.

You can’t hope to cure them of this any more than you would if the person was an alcoholic or sex addict.

Please see gambleaware as soon as possible, I’ve experience of people struggling horribly with gambling addiction and proper, structured help really is the only option, imo.

the immigration issue has now evolved into equating UKIP with racism because the main parties, realising that they missed the bandwagon of riding the public adulation of focusing on the issue of immigration, decided that the best course of action to put them (UKIP) in their place by portraying them as racist.

… is completely incorrect. I know that doesn’t make it unique amongst everything said, but still.

They are ‘portrayed’ as being racist because their members have exhibited racist behaviour and used racist language and rhetoric. Farage can claim that the party isn’t racist but ultimately they must be judged by their actions, or lack thereof in addressing the racist core of their members and supporters.

I was thinking last night how good the buses in Manc seemed to be with regard to room given.

    Bahahahahahahaha! *Head falls off*

In case you can’t guess, that’s not entirely my experience.

Out of interest, which company was it? Guessing First in that part of town?

Beautiful weather this week up until today, half the commute in to work is light now and there was the barest hint of daylight still in the air when I got home last night, couple of minutes a day of extra daylight at the moment. Spring’s coming, get out there to greet it.

All of this in Greater Manchester, by the way.

I’ve got an older TMars dropper that I’ve had on my bike for a year plus, no problems at all. Yes I had to give it a service to keep it running sweetly but it’s really easy to do and takes a few minutes.

The only niggles that I had were that it’s possible to over lube it (seems counter intuitive to me) and the inline adjuster on the cable was a bit over-sensitive, I’d give it what felt like a little jib to try and get the ‘lever’ throw spot on and it’s be too far gone the other way.

I got a deal on a hydraulic post otherwise I’d still be happily using it, as it is it’s sat in the ‘to be sold when I can get my act together’ pile. If you’d be interested I wouldn’t want as much as £50 for it. E-mail in profile etc.

Nice! I got that set for my last birthday and currently have it set up in ‘Part 1’mode. I got the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 set for Christmas, currently sat on the shelf waiting for a rainy afternoon with nothing else to do.

Make sure you put it in context by doing similar research on their competitors/other companies in field as well. Doesn’t need to be in as much detail but helps to know where they are positioned within their field and is usually quite impressive to a recruiting manager, I’ve found.

Not sure how much help this is as I’ve only been to the Stockport store… But it’s massive. They’ve always had everything I’ve looked at online instore without reserving. It’s literally two minutes off the M60 as well, so dead easy to get at.

Are standard whisky tumblers a bit rubbish then?

Depends how you’re drinking, to be honest. If I’m taking water with my whisky I’ll usually use a regular tumbler as I like to let it warm in my mouth as the tastes develop (that sounds gross now I’ve written it down). If I’m drinking something neat I’ll sometimes use a snifter for warming and capturing the aromas.

Most likely just a regular snifter (“brandy glass”), they’re often used to serve whisky in parts of Scotland, they’re designed for all brown liquors but have become associated with brandy for the most part.

The design of a snifter is such that a correctly sized measure will not spill when the glass is rested on it’s side as in the program. I’ve never seen the point of resting the glass like that other than to be ostentatious, to be honest.

EDIT: seeing the pics they are in deed snifters, albeit with relatively flat bottoms.

My job will be made redundant at some point next year, but there is a new job for me doing what I do now with extra/different duties and responsibilities, on the next pay scale with room to negotiate pay and perks. They’re also paying for me to do a work related degree and might involve a bit of foreign travel as well, so overall I’d actually like it to happen as soon as possible!

Thoughts with those facing ‘proper’ redundancy now or at any point, when I first found out my stomach dropped and I was really worried for a few days until everything was made clear, horrible thing to have to go fully through, I’d imagine.

Already been on the department ‘do’. Friday off to travel down (in pool car) to head office, meal, drinks, hotel, breakfast paid for, had a good laugh and didn’t have to put my hand in my pocket all night. Be rude not to, really!

Completely different scale to most things here, but I treated myself to a Thermopop quick read thermometer in time for the Xmas turkey. Not that stupid as it’s functional, but £20 for a thermometer is kind of a lot.

If you’ve got time, salting for between two and four days before cooking would improve moisture retention. Sirloin is terrible cooked beyond medium-rare in my experience, so I’d be slow cooking to
Surely putting salt on anything draws the moisture out , it’s why you don’t season a steak until just before cooking .FWIW I think slow cookers are awful things .

Initially, yes. Osmosis, Given time though it’ll react with the proteins in the meat and change the structure of the meat, net result is that it retains moisture better and is deeply seasoned.

If you’ve got time, salting for between two and four days before cooking would improve moisture retention. Sirloin is terrible cooked beyond medium-rare in my experience, so I’d be slow cooking to internal temp of 50-52 C, resting for at least half an our and then blasting in a mega hot oven to brown the outside, letting rest again before serving.

Should still be nice and moist after that.

That’s my thinking, I personally haven’t bothered even trying the bar mount, partly because there’s not a lot of room with two lights on my CdF bars, that shoulder mount works a treat though.

That already exists though doesn’t it?

If it does it’s news to me, and I’m more interested than the general populace although by no means an expert or fanatic.

To continue the football analogy I think the likes of Froome, Contador etc. will become like star strikers and the General managers DS’s become more of the focus in the same way team team managers are, giving a thread that continues throughout the season, I’d also imagine you’d see a little more ‘structure’ put into promotion of the calendar, “The Spring Classics: Paris-Roubaix” and so on.

I think it’s what the sport needs if it’s going to become more accessible for casual fans/non-riders.

    buck53

The thing it bought to mind for me is that they wanted to come up with some kind of season long league table for the teams. That way they’re not raising the issue of forcing riders to ride in certain races but there’s still a story for the more casual fan (essentially, “who’s the manager going to pick” in football terms). I thought that they’d probably try to make it more obviously (again to the casual fan) a team sport, recognisable kits outside of sponsor colours, focus on the squad throughout the season etc.

For those looking at the rucksack mount above, this is what I’ve done to mount mine in a similar fashion:

I was careful to line it up before doing it but it works a treat now and is nice and subtle on the commute, the mount barely noticable for me when the camera isn’t attached.

This thread is a goldmine so far! I will add a couple to the list that I don’t think have been mentioned so far, not brand new by any respect:

Skinnyman – Council Estate of Mind
    Mark B & Blade – The Unknown
Buck 65(Ahem) – Talking Honky Blues and Square specifically for this thread
Saian Super Crew and MC Solaar if you can put up with not understanding the lyrics
Bike for Three – More Heart Than Brains
    Childish Gambino – Camp

Mr Morrison’s spokesman deserves to have a parasitic tongue eating insect inserted for mixing his measurement units like that.

Actually the buyer giving the measurement. Just another reason he deserves out ire after raising this non-story.
