Was thinking about 110 landrover. Loving seeing that with a bike and a bed in the back. Ta.

You know how mountain biking is great? Where even riding down the street and hopping off a kerb brings a smile to your face. Let alone that feeling on a sweet flowing piece of singletrack, or an epic mountain backdrop.

    Well Dalby isn’t like that.

I forgot about the 15mm spanner in a water bottle!

I was also having a problem pulling the hub out of the dropouts altogether which seemed to lessen once I went to a correct length chain with no tensioner. Not sure if might have been altering the chainline slightly.

There are two parts that rotate that are clamped together with an Allen key to set the right tension. Push hard on the pedals going uphill and it slips. No matter how tight I turned it, it wouldn’t hold under power.

I’ve heard that Nuke, but I must have been lucky, as mine are spot on. Half a mm of cable stretch will bugger it though, but once back in line, no problems.

I’m glad I tried one. Definite positives. Not sure I’d do it again.

On the off chance that anyone has tried it… Does the Versa-11 dropbar shifter have the right indexing/cable pull to use with an X01/XX1 rear mech and cassette?

I’d call into Stif in Summerbridge and see what they recommend. I walked from Summerbridge up to Brimham Rocks, along to Pateley Bridge (via the Panorama), then up past the folly onto the moor, along Abraham crags? and back down through Dacre Banks to Summerbridge on Sunday. Most of it would be cheeky on a mountain bike, but there is some fun to be had there if you were up early enough…

Further up the valley is some good riding and even some nice singletrack if I remember rightly. On the lower route from Scar House to Lofthouse…

Ramsgill descent is supposed to be good. There was an old NPS DH track up there (remember Steve Peat pre-jumping the ski jump on the first race I ever watched up there), but I think it is off limits.

I will check out what the lads at Cycopath have built up at Gouthwaite farm this summer too.

Three punctures in Saturday practice last year. With no time or funds to go tubeless/double ply the only option was 45psi for race day. Survived. Loved every minute (well maybe except that road climb to Stage 3 into the mother of all head winds).

Another shout for CrossTrax in Leeds.

I know Sancho on here owns it, but the lads that work there are top too. I’ve wasted many hours of their time with my indecision, conversation and strange requests.

Increasingly moving away from online to using them. Plus they will have a go at fixing the stuff that I can’t (currently a Reverb with a 60mm drop :D)

Pretty sure I saw one in 18bikes when I was noseying around in there on Saturday.

Are there some trails in Broughton Hall? When I did tough mudder there, I swore I saw some berms in the woods.

I live in Leeds so think I will watch the depart then go home to watch the stage 1, then ride to Holme Moss and sleep in a field. Got some recon to do…

Where will Stage 2 be won (break away apart)? On Holme Moss? Or do you think the peleton will hold together?

Kennedy’s is awful and I’m not a real ale type. Go through the door to left of it and downstairs is a cool little bar though.

For clubs it has to be the one and only The Gallery. Rumour has it that a single bloke once didn’t pull in there.

Is that the VXi that have no grip in the mud, or the standard Freeriders?

    Perfect guys, thanks.

Been on the to do list for a while along with Horse Head. I’ll watch out for a frozen day after a couple of weeks of dry (ha!)

Crosstrax for everything – including mainly just shooting the breeze.
Chevin Cycles if I need something faster than the interweb and Crosstrax don’t have it.
Have used Woodrup a couple of times for Shimano stuff for the cross bike.

If you are near Stainburn then Nidderdale isn’t far away. Scar House/Ramsgill is pretty all weather.

I hike-a-biked Ingleborough the other day after all the storms and it was no different to usual.

Thanks guys. I’ve seen that video.

Fashioning an IPF tool wouldn’t be hard, but I don’t have the post bleed kit (different from the regular bleed kit), much spare hydraulic fluid, any slick honey or rather ashamedly… a vice.

Whether it is worth getting all of them, rather than paying £72 is an interesting one.

Or fifty notes to an LBS might still be preferred…

£72 inc. postage is pretty good, thanks.

Anyone know any LBS in West Yorks who fancy a go cheap?

Moor Lane is the descent I mentioned.

Basically B.A.Nana’s route you spent a long time going up gradual uphills. Your route has two killer climbs, then long steady descents. Depends how you like to gain your height I guess.

Don’t turn right on to the road at Halton Height, go straight over and take the track to Halton east. A couplebof nice corners and then a flat out off road track. Nothing technical but big grins. The road from Halton East backto Embsay is still all downhill, just not as steep.

I got as far as the door. £5 entry! And I would have had to pay her in. Clue’s in the title…

Is that a new double before the right-hander exiting the woods on the red descent. Haven’t been up for a few weeks, need to check that out.

Gutted that I signed up to Tough Mudder at Skipton the same weekend. 13 mile run or this, would have been an easy choice.

Martin – there are permisive bridleways which are like trail centre greens. The new trail is almost like a “skills” line, with up to three options on each “feature”. Perfect for the kids development. Other bits there are just chicken lines. It’s good fun.

They even have a dedicated car park for bikists and horsists. Warning the walkers to keep out!
