    Quick one…

Is the chain length still big, big no mech, plus 2 links?

    1×11 medium clutch

    Cheers

I’m just sat waiting by the door for a delivery. Tonight I will be building up:

135mm Pro 2 Disc with 11 speed road freehub (direct from hope via lbs)

    Sram PG1170 11-32
    Sram Force CX1 rear mech
Sram Force levers (CX1 right hand only with shifter)
    Avid BB7

Was tempted to go hydraulic but ran out of tokens (and already had the bb7)

Which means all those runs down the red when I should have been pedalling were wasted 🙂

Ignore the fact that it is a glorified Altura advert… From Fell To Forest always makes me want to jump in the car and drive up to the lakes with my bike:

Silton wouldn’t be far away for a bit of descending.

Are there still DH trails at Boltby? A decade plus since I was there.

Just got back on Saturday from pollensa. Hired from Pro Cycle hire and it was excellent. Bruce and the guys were superb.

If you walk in off the street then you are limited to the Massi bikes. Book online and you get access to some very nice bikes.

I had a Van Nicholas Chinook with Sram Force and FFWD carbon wheels.

Even better, they actually booked it for me in store, on the internet, on their laptop.

Nice cafe too. Cheap beer and good cake .

Mainly Shimano SLX, XT and an Alfine. I knew hope were loud, having ridden with others using them. The DTs just surprised me. I was scaring the wildlife with them.

I’ve been riding a DT Swiss 350 all week on a hired Van Nicholas Chinook. My God that freewheeling is loud.

Got the LBS to order a pro 2 evo direct from hope with the road cassette included. Being built up now.

More of a dogs dinner than dogs bollocks when it comes to looks.

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t ride well.

Given that it is American and a large brand, doesn’t mean it is vfm.

Thanks guys. I’ve also posted in the wanted section on the off chance someone has something.

Probably a chat with my lbs who stock hope or a dtswiss from Germany then.

Would that be better than a Hope Mono RS 32h 135mm Shimano 11sp?

EDIT: Which of course isn’t a disc hub…

Marshalls were great, course was great. Had a great time, but a pinch flat right at the top of 5, which I decided to repair rather than ride out/run means my time was appalling.

Glad I did fix it though as 5 was an absolute blast and I wasn’t wasting that final transition!

I didn’t enjoy the new stage in practice, but it was fine in the race. That boggy climb out was no fun though!

    Top weekend.

Usually always, but fancying being fanciful and trying out full SRAM Force CX1.

Alfine 11 and Versa VRS-11 going cheap:

Just in case anyone ever pulls this up in a search:

Unfortunately, the spacing of our pulley teeth in wider than formal shifter(because the Versa shifter was designed for Shimano internally geared hubs),
so we don’t think the Versa shifter can work with either STI road mech or a SRAm xx1 mech.
Hope the above descriptions are clear to you.

I’ve never hit a crank arm with my ankle, so not sure. They are fairly substantial.

Think Clarks and a bit special.

Things seemed to changed since Operation Puerto:

Barcelona not winning every tournament they enter.
Spain disappointing at the world cup
Nadal no longer dominating on every surface

    Oh. You asked about cycling…

Cheaper? Sure. But it does involve you getting off the plane with your own vehicle, several days and a lot of effort.

They are Enduro-specific. Use them for raking other riders during overtakes.

Works great but soon stretch like knicker elastic. Best compromise I have had is standard KMC bmx chain, with a solitary half link added to get the correct length.

Agreed. They sell laminated maps for cost price and will tell you what the conditions are like on the routes (for example if today falls in one of the 2 weeks out of 52 that the lower bridleway from Arkengarthdale to Reeth is passable). Free parking and cafe and shop on site.

    Nice guys too.

I tried a pair on the other day and distinctly didn’t fancy walking any distance in them.

I don’t normally have trouble with the width of shoes and have played in adidas football boots for years.

The Terrex size up very narrow. Shame as I fancied a pair.

It was a top weekend alright.

Saturday I was snapping in Inners and then went out for a ride in the evening.

Sunday I was marshalling at the start of stage 2. All the riders were great, loads saying thank you and having a chat. Didn’tq see anyone not enjoying themselves.

Having been ferried up to the mast by 4×4, I got to finish the day with a top to bottom descent of Glentress.

Great atmosphere back on the green later.

POC Knee and Shin. The fit is so good I’ve ditched the lower strap. Ride all day without noticing you’re wearing them. I even put them on hike-a-biking the other day as leg warmers…

Skiddaw, Snowdon, Helvellyn, Ingleborough, Buckden Pike multiple times. Borrowdale bashes and Ullswater singletrack.

Countless rounds of CoedyBrenin, Degla, Gisburn, Lee Quarry and Glentress.

Stainburn every month. Plenty of local.

    Stiniog uplifts.

    Chamonix.

I’ve probably pushed it beyond most Halfords bikes.

Wasn’t there a route in the mag about a year back starting from Tebay Services. Or am I making that up?

My Boardman Team FS that I bought on the cycle to work scheme is 3 1/2 years old and still going strong.

Back then it was again the most bike you could buy for a grand and I managed to get a discount too.

I upgraded the tyres, grips, pedals and seat straight-away. But otherwise it was good to go.

Obviously in that time I’ve gone through plenty of consumables, brake pads, tubes and more tyres.

I’ve a changed a few bits to alter the geometry: shorter stem and longer fork.

The entire drive train has been replaced through wear.

The rear-shock did fail under warranty, but the upgraded replacement has been faultless.

When the frame snapped I managed to get halfords to give me a replacement rear triangle for £100.

But the rear wheel (hub and rim) I wrote off was all user error.

So still going strong, well the handlebars and front wheel at least! 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I love it, still ride it hard and the drip, drip of money has stopped me dropping a fortune on a new one for nearly 4 years!
