Ah – the website says tickets on sale between two dates in 2014. That must have been the 2014 version. Well that is good news! Cheers.

Bike I’m truly indifferent, it depends on which way the corner I’ve just exited turned.

Board left foot forward, but can ride switch if necessary.

Football, more right foot for deadballs, but definitely left foot for volleys (better foot as standing foot)

    All right hand.

Relative to the overall distance, yes.

That is in part what makes them steep. With a couple of pedally bits and non-stop tech, they don’t feel short when you are racing them!

If you are in Langdale there is a short, but oh oh oh so sweet bridleway just south of Elterwater, that drops through Sawreys wood, across a track and then down under Yew Crags, through the quarry and down to Chapel Stile.

The top half is a wet rooty, rocky flowy fast joy to behold.

Over in no time, but if you are in that neck of the woods….

Walked this the other day with the plan to ride it the next – didn’t bother. Esk Hause down to Angle Tarn is all rideable, climb up Rosset not terrible, a carry for me, maybe not for others, it was the long drop down to Langdale that put me off, very steep, rocky and twisty – none of which are a problem on their own but for steep and twisty, I need rocks smaller than toddlers. Esk Hause down to Sty Head and Seathwaite would be much more fun I think.

Stand up, grip the saddle between your knees and crucifix downhill, only beaten by standing on the crossbar and takeing your hands off.

    Stretching, relaxing, admiring the view?

Surely hanging onto the handlebars is the cycling equivalent of motoring’s 10-2?

More than I was wearing this morning. Met Office says it felt like -6. 60 PRs in 2 hours as a result though, no hanging about.

Who is going to be the first to one-up to the new sram cx1 11-36?

There isn’t a good curry house in Northallerton. You’ll want the Taste of India in Bedale*

    *information correct as of 2005.

That really is a good price.

Can’t imagine Nukeproof are pleased just after launching their OKLO

I switched over from an Alfine 11 about six months ago. Compared to that it is a lightweight, slick, fast and just as silent dream.

In terms of application I am still running a 32t on the front, which helped me grind over honister the other day and is great off road, but I do miss the top end on the road. I’m not quite aero tucking on the flat, but you get the picture.

That’s a long way in not many hours of light!

Great part of the world on a quiet Monday in November. I tend to spend most of my time in the lakes based out of Keswick, so a nice change.

Loaded car up with gear and an airbed, drove 2 hours to Kendal in A65 rush hour traffic and minging weather. Just about to collect tickets for Kendal Mountain Fest Santa Cruz Bike Session when realised left wallet at home. Didn’t fancy a couple of days riding on one ham sandwich and 2 litres of Evian, with no ID, so launched a futile return-return mission to Leeds, target 2 1/2 hours. Aborted in a nice warm house…

    Replanning exercise underway…. What a kn*b.

Where did you ride Tom? How did it go?

I did the track down to Halton East instead, because I was pushed for time. Served me right as I pinch flatted, not backing off.

A bit further south, but Barden moor riding well today.

2 to 3 hours for a day trip (lakes, north Wales, further across the dales). Scotland, south Wales would involve staying over.

    Did Snowdon yesterday in fact.

Furthest I have driven to ride was 1300km to Chamonix. Worth every mile. Did stay for a week though.

Transformed my bike 4 years ago. Gutted when I smashed it to bits in a crash a few weeks ago, but have managed to bend the manganese back into the carcass for now.

    650b Codeine.

It is a marketing gimmick to generate interest.

Apparently the winner of the auction gets a full build kit thrown in free, with a CCDB inline and a Pike.

    Bid away…

    (possibly)

Esholt has a big (for me) line at the bottom of the woods.

A lot of Adel Woods was flattened (council side), but it is springing up again. The non-council side also has no cycling signs up now though.

Bar26 is solid. It is included in their great value rooms, so I’ve had a few.

    Thanks.

Spotted that the first front of rain was passing under the lakes, so managed a quick shot at Nan Bield.

Will make a point of dragging some lads from back home up to hamsterley in the future though. Cheers.

    Thanks all.

Ton – Wednesday is the first day of the missus’ holiday – so I don’t know what plans she has yet. She mentioned walking… Cheers though.

Think I’ll sleep on it and see what the 4.00am Met Office update brings. Some good back up options by the sounds of it in Hamsterley and as the family is up that way I might even get fed!

Been looking at this and trying to justify what I really want, versus this price:

Our roads are in terrible condition after years of underinvestment and people creating “pot holes”. Literally people digging up the road surface and taking it home to make plates and dishes rather than buying new. I’d recommend 35mm knobblies.

For the mtb, it is common practice over here to buy a 24″ tyre and stretch it onto a 29″ rim. Less rubber being cheaper.

42mph on a full rigid Univega with Tioga Factory DH 2.1s down the road at Sutton Bank when I was 16.

I’ve been faster on a road bike many times since, but nailing cars up the inside into the hairpin on what was left of a set of Shimano Alivio v-brake pads is a memory that I will never forget.
