I suspected as much. That service that they call the “bone rattler” from Morecambe couldn’t get any dirtier from memory.

Glyn-y-Aur is awesome. We’ve stayed their 4 times. You can drop straight into Addams Family off the road up there.

    Dalby forest is excellent.

    Where did you hear otherwise?

Stainburns miles away and 20% the fun.

    A strange idea of fun…

Not sure that I’d consider it better, but Trekkinn.com have some deals on Vaude bags. i.e. 35% off the VAUDE Centauri 65+10…

Both BB – You can practice on Friday, but not the course you’ll be riding on Sunday.

Just DIY SOS. Mountain Biking is all about Location, Location. Find a nice place in the sun. Don’t have any grand designs and you’ll stumble on some amazing places and hidden villages.

There are a few bits that I recognise and a few bits I don’t. Where is the high stuff? Causey Pike? Back of Grisedale Pike?

    Gutted.

Off the top of my head from Crosstrax I maybe bought in the last few years…

2 pairs of hand-built wheels. The second pair on the basis of the strength of the first.

Some bike wash I’d never heard of but they persuaded me was good. It is.

A Hope order for a bike build with an acceptable markup on the very cheapest that I knew I could buy it for, given the amount of time I spent in the shop choosing what I wanted.

Some gloves that I tried on to make sure they fit.

A jacket when it was raining.

Some Stans sealant when I needed ride that day.

Probably a few nuts bolts and widgets along the way too.

I’m very aware that over the course of several years that hardly makes me a great LBS customer. But for me Crosstrax was a great shop, run by great guys.

I love building bikes and sourcing exactly the components I want is not something that I would dream of a single shop doing.

Good luck Sancho and hopefully the plan that I heard about for cheaper premises a bit further out is something that comes off in the future.

I took a couple of friends round that Lonscale fell route two weeks ago. They absolutely loved it.

I was more interested in the FP/BW that crosses Sandy Gate into Mossdale – again, looks non-existent on the ground for a few K, so hike-a-bike seems inevitable.

You couldn’t sum up our irrational access laws better than that gem could you. I’ve never done the Mossdale side specifically, but it is on the same plane as the peat bogs above Hag Dyke that have nearly done for me. Not sure if it drains better to the south.

I’ve done the classic a few times (with a few variations) and played about above Ramsgill. What is the landrover track up the side of Meugher like?

I’ve got the Sweet Protection Fixer for the bike. At first glance it looks pretty similar to their Ignitor helmets. I;m going to try and get some Earpads and give it a go.

I’ve got the Fixer full carbon MIPS.

I’ve never felt like I’ve had as much protection from an open face. The plastic MIPS head cradle is sweaty though.

I’ve used feedly to build my own, but they are never perfect.

I usually resort to just reading both the Telegraph and the Guardian and ignoring the Tory and Feminism guff respectively. The Times would be better than the Telegraph but for the paywall and Murdoch.

Sporting life for PA sport stuff.
Use the 3 free articles a month from FT.com wisely.
    Politico.eu is an interesting one.
Zerohedge if I’m in the mood for finance.
Betting.Betfair and RP for a different slant on Sport.

Shuttle to the top of the hill. Unload bike. Programme empty car to drive itself to the bottom of the hill and park up.

    Repeat.

Watching Liam’s lines through the bottom of 2 was something to behold. Even if the course is the same as last 2 years, being able to do that blind-ish is something else.

Mind you, Guy and his daughter’s line wasn’t far off, through wheelbase-necessity!

I had a great weekend marshalling, top banter from the riders , but it killed me not to be riding this year. My own fault for being tardy with entries. A mistake I’ll not repeat next year!

Lots of people praising the organisation. Having seen first-hand how much Joe and the team put into it, it is no fluke!

Aigulle du Midi > Mer du Glace > back to Chamonix in 28 degrees heat and cloudless skies in early October is one of my favourite memories from the Alps. Detour up to Lac Bleu and watch out for Chamois in the forests on the way back down.

Available cheaper if you shop around…

Chamonix is mostly natural, that I have ridden, so no need to worry about huge man made jumps. You will be in the season of the ‘walker’s ban’ so you do need to pick your trails carefully…

If you need something quickly and they can’t help, try Chris the live-in mechanic at Chalet Montana in Montriond. I’m sure he’ll do some freelancing…

3 pinch flats in 2 years (during stages, not transitions) running High Roller 1s with tubes at 40psi. Gave me an excuse for my finishing position. Tubeless should be fine though as there are not huge square edged rocks, or super sharp rough stuff. I’m marshalling this year instead.

Another option on Nexus Player is to sideload Kodi where there is a Vimeo add-on as well as a Pinkbike one.

Don’t bother. I work in a garage and some guy was ranting about an engine light being on after an MOT. It can’t have been us as we only kicked the tyres. Took the fuse out and he was happy.

Buckden Pike BW is the other descent in the area that people have mentioned. Steep in places at the top, with at least one awkward gap, boggy in the middle in all but dry weather. Fast at the bottom.

Ingleborough to Ingleton is good fun. Fairly techy at the top. In fact, I need to do this again soon.
